So, if you take the side off your tower you should be able to see at least one light on the motherboard. It used to be that you could tell where the problem was with some computers by studying the amount and rate of blinking this light does like a diagnostic code when you power on. If you are trying the cmos battery out or bios jumper method, when you have turned all power sources off then press the start button again otherwise the board may hold a residual amount of power. And the dude with the i-Tunes problem......everything SHOULD be in the cloud, the i-Cloud.

I would just type the make and model into google and you should get a list of websites offering the specs for this device. Check the acceptable ram speeds and the total amount that can be installed. I might check also if anything can be overclocked in the bios if it's more speed you want. Do this at your own risk, speed causes heat so make sure your fan is clean.

The first thing I would try would be to look for a video out port , hdmi would be good but vga would be fine. Just plug it into an external moniter and see if you get a result. If the graphics chip hasn't spat the dummy then you might be able to work with it from there

It took until win 10 to get me off win 7 and it took a wee bit of getting used to but i wouldn't go back, and being on the insider program i get regular insider preview build updates.

mmm, the first thing i think i would check is that it is not trying to boot to a network through the lan. open the bios and check the device boot priority, should be dvd/cd first and then hdd or vica vers, but it should not be set to lan or network, just a thought. another would be try to run the repair console off the instalation disc if you have it, boot to it and run a 'chkdsk /r' scan or 'chkdsk /p /r', some sysrems have a repair console built in and this can be accessed by pressing alt f11 or f12 at the same time when the system logo appears and before windows starts loading up, this option can vary and the system manufacturer will be able to help with the correct buttons to press at the right time if it has that function. You can access the computer running temperatures in the bios, or maybe download a system monitoring app from the web.

these are a few articles on removing the virus, that is if it is indeed a varient of the FBI scam. what "I" did first was start in safe mode with networking, went straight to : start/all programs/startup/, in this folder was a file called "ctfmon" , i deleted this entry and rebooted in safe mode and ran malwarebites, rebooted and voila it was gone, it may not be that simple for you, so read the articles thoroughly and try what you understand and can follow, it can be a bit technical so maybe get a computer savvy mate to help. The ctfmon file in the startup folder was not ctfmon.exe it was in fact ctfmon.ink, which is the file that activates the virus at startup. good luck, don't give in to it, it can be fixed. If none of this works get back to this thread and ask for more help. ps: i am running xp sp3, you may not be, so read as many articles as you can till you find the right one. Good luck.

sounds like the fbi scam, which a friend had, there are a couple of fixes but i don't remember where i found them, a google search should point you in the right direction. DEFINITELY DO NOT PAY ANYTHING as this will NOT fix the problem. I will look around and get back to this thread.

I downloaded the d4700a10 bios update from dell and i don't have a dell computer, try the link above and see how you go. i don't know if it supports dx or not but a little further digging around might supply the answer. a10 is the latest upgrade i think, might be worth a try, good luck. let us know here if it works and maybe it can help other. you could also try running a compatability test for win 8 from an online site, look around i think there are a few.

i don't understand, please expand your question, i've never used a browser that cost anything so what exactly are you paying for

you could try right clicking on 'my computer' choose properties, hardware, device manager, sound video and game controllers, right click the audio device, click properties, drivers, update drivers. may help, alternatively if you have recently updated these drivers you could try rolling back to the previous driver and see if that works, my humble opinion only.

it sounds like you are trying to hack someones account, i hope not, this is not the place for hacks, do you know your email addy and password ? get yahoo to send the information to the email addy you signed up with. This is quite easy to solve if you are genuine

i have installed a lot of linux distros over the years looking for a better system than windows, the best i tried was an extreme version of ubuntu put together by pc world i think, it was the only platform that would install and run 3d games, my hobby. I found linux to be the most frustrating system to use, everything had to be done thru command type windows ans the vernacular was just confusing. The thing about windows is that you just install it, load a few drivers and away you go, its uses easy to follow instructions and you don't need a degree to run it, just my thoughts.

david.phillips.902 0 Newbie Poster

what hardware operations ?, please be specific, broaden your question

david.phillips.902 0 Newbie Poster

just run a google search for the drivers using the model number, sometimes this is quicker than trawling through the manufacturers website, try hp pavillion g series vga drivers, it's all out there if you just look

yeh, on bootup start pressing f11 or f12 as soon as the computer starts, should bring up your boot options without going into bios, choose cd/dvd and it should at least try to boot from disc, hope this helps. ps: if you can hit the pause button at the right time it should freeze the screen and allow you to read which button to hit, then carry on.

david.phillips.902 0 Newbie Poster

it might be worth going into the bios and making sure that the halt on all errors function is turned off or set to halt on keyboard error is turned off and try again, might just let you know if it is your keyboard playing up

david.phillips.902 0 Newbie Poster

it might be worth having a look at the Foxit Reader

david.phillips.902 0 Newbie Poster

in my experience the ubuntu extreme was the best a few years ago, and be aware that you have to burn your program to a cd and install it that way, so you will need a burning program as well, burnaware free or some similar will do that job no worries
