Hello, I would like to do some testing of the internal workings of todays malware. As such I of course need access to websites that install malicious software. Unfortunately the sites that once installed malware no longer do...anyone here know of one or more websites that install malware? If so what are the site(s) url(s)? (you can pm me the url(s) if you'd prefer) thanks! :)

Less than an hour has passed and I think I completely my mission :p :D (of course this is done in vmware so it's easy to clean up and is completely contained in a virtual pc)...here are some screenshots showing the damage...

Btw, all those filesxx.jpg screenshots are of the ctrl+alt+del screen, showing all the background tasks running....yep...that's right...it took about 11 or so screenshots to record all the background tasks running...:D

Hi, I would like to make a terminal (non gui, the dos texty type interface) snake game and have a general idea of what to do but would like some help with the following: how do I make the walls? and how do I catch the keyboard input to move the snake (preferrably would like to use the arrow keys such that up moves the snake up, left moves the snake left, right moves the snake right, and down moves the snake down)? Thanks! :)

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

Actually yeah I've seen some...although the ones I saw were immitating the windows98 dialup login screens, haven't seen anything for xp, 2000, or nt though...

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

've never understood this and never will...but how in the world is administrators having the option to enable a system policy to require users to press ctrl+alt+del before logging in making the system more secure??? It doesn't make it harder for hackers to brute force an account, that's what the lockout policy is for, and last I checked the only people that measure does keep out is people who have trouble using a keyboard (which most certainly excludes people who are looking to cause trouble on the computer) so why in the world was that ever implemented and for that matter, kept in the OSes all the way from NT to 2000 to XP???

Hi, I have a HP 8100n and I would like to write a separator page script for it that simply prints a blank page from tray 2 (where recycled paper will go to reduce waste) and then resume printing from tray 3, can someone please help me? I'm totally lost but really need this done (and it'll help save the earth ;) :) ) so I'd greatly appreciate any help you guys can provide me, thanks! :)

I've successfully setup my NetServer LH3R with
Windows2000 but am now looking towards installing Suse 9.1 instead since
Suse 9.1 has so many more possibilities built into it. The server specs are
(in case these are needed): 2xPentium III 500MHz, 1GB RAM, 6x9GB HDs
(currently configured as 2 HDs for a RAID1 making a drive of 9GB, and the
rest as RAID5 for 27GB) and 2x10/100 *Intel(r) PRO/100+ Management Adapter*,
the RAID controller is a embedded HP NetRAID controller. First question
is...anyone have any idea if the hardware will work OK with Suse 9.1? Second
question is, I'd like all the drives to appear as one 54GB HD, what RAID
setup should I use to accomplish this? Thanks! :)

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

Hi, I'm getting a NetServer LH3R with 6 9GB SCSI drives installed and 2 Pentium III 500MHz processors along with 1GB of RAM and 2 10/100 NICs and I would like to multiboot on it Windows NT 3.51 and Windows2000. I've tried googling around for information on this but could not find a good guide on doing this. Could someone here please provide me with the information I need to successfully multiboot these OSes? (e.g. partitioning setup, order of installation, etc) Thanks in advance! :)

EDIT: And if anyone's wondering why I would like to multiboot these two OSes the reason is that I've already bought Windows NT 3.51 off eBay for another NetServer I had gotten handed down to me (but unfortunately it was on its last legs and within a week just stopped working :( ) and am now buying a replacement server and thus would feel kind of guilty not putting this OS I just bought into use, but would also like to be able to use a more recent OS as well...and in case anyone's wondering no this is not going to be a production server, it's going to be something for me to play with (they come cheap off eBay...this one was only $350 with all these specs and in a used but good condition), so again thanks in advance for any help you can offer! :)

Hi, I recently upgraded my families computers, one of which is used for my brother. I've put in a new 250GB HD and slaved the old 20GB for just this kind of event, now where would I find the Command and Conquer saved game files? I've tried googling around but the few leads I could find led to dead ends :( . I'd appreciate it if the locations of the saved game files for the following versions of Command and Conquer could be provided:

Tiberian Sun
Tiberian Sun Firestorm
Yuri's Revenge

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks! :)

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

Ah yeah that's true I suppose, just haven't come by any programs that do that as far as I know, thanks for your replies :)

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

That's true but last I checked the machine code for Intel and PPC platforms are different, as an example, one can't run linux apps compiled on a Intel computer and one can't run a linux app compiled on a PPC computer (a mac), as far as I know in order for a application to work on a certain processor it has to be compiled on that processor...of course there's obviously something you guys are trying to tell me that I'm just missing...hmmm...

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

huh? how is it possible to compile something for say, PPC on a Intel platform?

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

Now here's a interesting question I've been pondering but haven't quite been able to solve...how is the first compiler for a platform made (e.g. new OS, processor, etc)?

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

hmm, well I did find my motherboard ID and when I googled it: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=52-0100-009999-00101111-071595-AMD75x I got a bunch of different leads on what the board might be..that any help? My main priority is to get a BIOS update before adding any RAM or anyhing

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

Where would I likely find that on the motherboard? *feels stupid* ><'

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

oh, and oops, yeah the BIOS is actually dated 1999

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

tried before and as shown in the attatched screenshots unfortunetly Everest can't ID the motherboard...:(

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

Grrr, alright so I found this $90 custom built PC on eBay, 600MHz AMD Athlon K-6 processor, 128MB RAN, NIC, CD-ROM drive and a now 400GB HD (thank you dynamic drive overlay). Now then, to get to the problem. The issue is that this is a custom made PC, the seller doesn't know specifics about the motherboard or BIOS and from the looks of it it's some AMD Gateway motherboard although I can't find on the gateway site any hint of them ever having a amd gateway computer, there's no clues in the BIOS as to what the serial number of the motherboard may be so that means I don't have any hope of IDing it at the gateway site, all system info tools and BIOS ID tools are unable to ID the motherboard as well and this means I'm stuck with some 1980s BIOS and no way to figure out what kind of RAM this thing takes...grrr! Anyone here able to help? Any ideas? Anyone ever heard of gateway selling a amd computer? Please help, all replies and suggestions are greatly appreciated as I'm at a loss right now. :( Thanks in advance!

oh and btw...search on google for any of these terms: Invision Power Board, InvisionFree, ipb, InvisionFree Topsites, Invision Free topsites, invision free, ips, ipb 2.0, topsites (haven't submitted it to others yet due to not having time to make meta tags :o ) and the topsites or one of the pages on the topsites of mine should come up on either the first page or second and seems to even depending on the keywords chosen...come up first or second in the results on the first page :D...in addition statistics have shown that alot of people have been drawn to my topsites just from searching for IPB related items like skins on google which must mean it has a pretty good google ranking...

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

Hi, I'm trying to get an account with LinkExperts.com for my topsites http://usa.ultimatetopsites.com/general/hexstar/ ...their company is unique because instead of relying on clicks they rely on search engines indexing the direct links provided by the ads to raise their clients search engine rankings...however they rejected my site because according to one of the staff there since my site is a topsites or as they put it "a bunch of links" they won't get a good return with the search engines from having the ads on my topsites...is this true? :(

Woah this sucks:

Since early Wednesday, Phil Bradham, the network engineer at Boston's Museum of Fine Arts, has been cut off from the parts of the Internet he needs the most.
He can't reach his Web hosting company to update his site. Critical e-mails aren't going through, and some aren't reaching him. He can't get to some important sites on the Net, such as the popular Wikipedia encyclopedia.

The source of Bradham's difficulties is a feud between two big backbone Internet companies--the long-haul networks that most consumers and even most businesses ordinarily have little to do with. One of these companies, Level 3 Communications, has cut off direct communications with rival Cogent Communications, causing many of each company's customers to lose access to potentially significant swatches of the Net.

"We've been working with both (companies), but neither one will do anything until the other one budges," said Bradham. "It's very frustrating that two top companies would try to resolve this with a standoff like this."

In theory, this kind of blackout is precisely the kind of problem the Internet was designed to withstand. The complicated, interlocking nature of networks means that data traffic is supposed to be able to find an alternate route to its destination, even if a critical link is broken.

In practice, obscure contract disputes between the big network companies can make all these redundancies moot.

At issue is a type of network connection called "peering." Most of the biggest network companies, such as AT&T, Sprint …

Hi, anyone know where I can find a basic mysql based announcements script show I can show new announcements and all current and old announcements regarding my site to my customers/clients? Thanks!

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

You guys should use this ad network instead: http://www.linkexperts.com ....they're ads provide a garunteed monthly profit :)

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

yes I realize that but I believe that there's still probably plenty of space amoungst HDs for more clusters...so thus a higher possibility of capacity...perhaps we could even lower the cost of HDs by instead of having to premake clusters on a HD, just have the firmware make very close to each cluster another cluster when needed and I'm sure in this way we could get a ton of disk space out of HDs...and the fact that each HD has I believe 3 double sided writable plates that makes me think that there is the possible potential for todays HDs to be able to store 1TB at least no?

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

hmm? what do you mean?

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

Hi, I'm looking for a ad network that could provide me with a good amount of monthly income without necesarily having to worry about getting enough clicks going for the ads each month, so far I've found one ad network LinkExchange which since the advertisers pay by the month and not by click, publishers get paid a garunteed flat amount each month without needing to worry about getting enough ad clicks each month...anyone know of any other such ad networks that accept publishers (for a topsites)? Thanks!

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

Why can't anyone make a every growing HD? I mean it's been shown by the ever bigger HDs that the current HD format we manafacture can hold much more then what we currently have out on shelves...so why hasn't anyone thought to develop some system in which there's a HD that can create more clusters on demand creating basically an HD with an unlimited storage capacity? It could store clusters really close together so that until every single inch of each platter is used more disk space could be created and used...the HDs could be made to use both sides of each platter too for double the possible disk space....

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

Well I have a 600MHz AMD Athlon PC with 128MB RAM, a sound card and a 17GB HD currently running WindowsXP Pro SP2 with 10GB free space remaining. Since it's a good computer with internet access and chugging along fine I don't want to give it away or take it apart (plus what's the point of that when my main computer is a mac ;) ). So what could I use it for? Any ideas of stuff I could use it for? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

wow thanks, glad it has already been covered pretty thoroughly :)

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

Hi, I'd also like to know of sites where I can get a test computer infected...would someone be so kind as to post in this thread a list of the possible sites for infection that have been discussed in this thread so far? Thanks!

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

Alright, I bet you're thinking I'm really weird or crazy, but believe me I do have a good reason behind requesting this information. Anyone know of websites or programs that contain/install/or prompt for installation of spyware or adware? I need alot for a spare PC I have for a research project I'm doing on the effects of spyware and adware behind the scenes....thanks!

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

ah true...any possible freeware though (and thanks for your reply btw)?

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

why not just offer text ads instead of image banners which may (and often do) involve popups? I know of a free and very good ad server which does that and even has a instant signup form that can integrate with services like PayPal....additionally she could have instead a Google ad banner at top and for the skyscraper and bidclix ad, both of which are high quality ad networks and have a pretty good payout without popups or any of the other intrusive features some other ad networks sport (although I've only gotten popups from your guys ads)

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

I'll take a screenshot of it next time I get it...interestingly enough though I'm not getting the ad at all on your site at home...:-/ hmm...

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

Hmm, well I've recieved many popups from the financing loan ad you have here at school and I know for sure since everytime you restart their computers the system reimages the HD with a clean image that there's no way they're infected...:-/

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

Well I just couldn't hold it in. I remember a while ago the ads were fine and popups didn't constantly occur...now it's a different story :(. The ads are many, most of which are big and system intensive, there are now also many popups. I know there's plenty of other good alternatives to making a good amount of money...like using both google adsense ads and bidclix.com ads...both of which provide good content and can bring in a good amount of money except without the system intensiveness of flash ads and huge images and without the always annoying popups. I'm sorry...just couldn't hold it in...had to vent. But anywho this is a great forum and I hope you guys keep up the great job! :)

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

actually I'm pretty sure this would be possible (from what I've seen and experienced)...the apps I've used have referred to clusters using a number like 24482...I assume these numbers some how actually refer to the location of the cluster on the drives physical surface...so based on that making such a program probably wouldn't be all that hard...but I may not be correct about that either (I admit I'm no expert when it comes to the technical works of the HD)...

hexstar 5 Posting Whiz in Training

Hi, I have a hard disk that has some issues and I was wondering if there's a program out there that would show me like a inside of a hard disk and then have different keys on the surface to represent good and bad areas of the hard disks surface...is there any such program? Please let me know if you need any clarification as to what I'm talking about (don't worry, you definetly wouldn't be the first :p ;) ) and I'll do my best to do so. Also if there isn't such a app would someone here be willing to program it? Thanks in advance, all replies are greatly appreciated! :)

Hello, I've tried all I can think of to get CommuniGate to relay smtp
email so people I host can use the php mail() function. However despite
my efforts mail in the que for sending through smtp times out.
CommuniGate resolves the mail servers dns names and IPs but returns a
error of 'No response from "mail server here"'. I have already
unblocked the following tcp ports: 106,110,8100,25,143,8010,and 674 but
to no avail. I have made sure the mx dns records for my domain
johnscompany.net are in order as well. I am running CommuniGate version
4.2.9 PPC and am using the linux distro YellowDog Linux 4.0.1 as well
as Apache 2.0.51, php 4 and mysql 3.xx. Any ideas why the mails aren't
sending? Do I need to unblock some more ports? Any help is greatly

the following is a true yet somewhat funny (IMO) scientists explanation of why santa can't possibly exist:

Scientists have tried to answer the question, "Does Santa come with flying reindeer to deliver presents at Christmas?" This is what they have found:

1. No known species of reindeer can fly, but there are 300,000 species of living organims yet to be classified. Although most of these are insects and bacteria, this does not rule out flying reindeer.

2. According to the Population Refeence Bureau, 378 million people celebrate Christmas worldwide. With an average of 3.5 children per home, that's 91.8 million homes for Santa to visit.

3. Thanks to different time zones, Santa has 31 hours of Christmas to work with, assuming he travels east to west. This works out to 822.6 visits per second. That means for each celebrating household with at least one good child in it, Santa has 1/1000th of a second to park, hop out of the sleigh, jump down the chimney, fill the stockings, place presents under the tree, eat the cookies and return to the sleigh.

4. Assuming that all 91.8 million stops are evenly distributed throughout the earth, the total trip time will be 75.5 million miles. That means Santa's sleigh must move at 650 miles per second, 3000 times the speed of sound. For purposes of comparison, the fastest man-made vehicle on earth (the Ulysses space probe) moves at 27.4 miles per second.

5. Assuming that each child get nothing more than …
