Please check which port you have available, it will either be a PCI-E port or an AGP port. This determines which type of GFX card you can buy.
By the side of the port the name will be printed, so stare around the ports or use a magnifying glass to see that extra bit clearly.

Have you tried connecting the monitor to another computer to check that it works?
Also try cleaning out the VGA port, dust may obstruct the connectors.
Otherwise, try a different monitor, and if you get the same trouble the motherboard VGA port is at fault, you may want to take it to a computer store to have it checked and fixed, or buy a new/used Graphics card, so you can run the monitor through that, or even go for a new computer. Whichever fits your needs.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Are you connecting it through a graphics card, or through the motherboard VGA slot?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Ouch, well i could say that i am god, in my own sect, so really we are all gods, there is no one true god seeing as it is a thesis into which you and others around you believe.
Like that Simpson's episode once, they had a new 'religion' which was gaining everyone's money, for a chance to meet the 'chosen one'.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

What microphone do you use at the moment?
This would look to be the problem, otherwise it is the recording hardware that could be at fault.
Also what do you connect your mic into? is it a sound card or motherboard audio?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Currently i am using Norton 2006 updated to the 2007 version.
As of the moment, i have the option to renew my subscription for £33. After looking at PC worlds 2007 Norton Antivirus, it costs £19.99. Significantly cheaper. Now i know that AVG is supposedly very good, so my question to you is:

Which should i go for; re-subscribe, buy 2007 new, or get AVG?

Thanks in Advance

Why has this thread been bought back from the grave?
And wtf is that religion, i might as well say i am in the sect of Sarcasm, would be fun....

Right your headphones have a mic on them i am guessing, judging from two plugs. Put the pink plug into the pink jack, the black plug into the black jack (if you want to use your headphones). The speakers should have a green coloured plug, which connects into the green jack on your sound-card.

You could find the software by trailing through your HDD, and delete the folder relating to it.
My Computer -> HDD (usually C: ) -> Program Files -> maker of the software in it's own folder.
Then delete the contents of that folder, or inside the folder, look for a program which says "Uninstall" or words to that effect, then try to run that, it should then get rid of the software for you to reinstall it.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

What recording software are you using?
Try finding one called Audacity, very good at recording and it is shareware, so it costs you nothing.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

That's is weird, you should have the pink jack free for your mic.
What colour are the holes that you have your speakers plugged into, you should only be using the green coloured one/s.
Pink Jack relates to Microphone,
Orange Jack relates to Headphones,
Green Jack relates to Speakers.

Well, unless your motherboard is totally buggered, this problem points to your monitor causing your freezing problem.
Are you able to try this monitor on any other Computer to check that it is not the VGA port at fault?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Have that thought resting on your conscience!
I have said nothing so i can't be blamed.
For once....

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Well look where your monitor plugs into, if it is near the bottom of the tower (if it is a tower) there should be a series of holes that have a metal bar across them. These are the PCI/PCI-E output holes, if it is plugged in there, it is through a graphics card.
If it is anywhere else, it is through the motherboard. If you are unsure still, either take a pic, and attach it to a post here, or look through google images:
http://www.systemaxdev.com/productmedia/htmlimages/cten/Lenovo%20Desktops/Lenovo-3000%20J105-back.jpg
If you plug your monitor into the port labelled 'VGA' on that image, you are using motherboard graphics.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Are you connecting the monitor through a Graphics Card, or motherboard monitor port?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

No bennet really does eat that sort of stuff!
Yes that fat is clogging his arteries nicely...

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Is the monitor cable fully plugged into the monitor port?
Does the monitor freeze, or does the entire computer?
If it is just the monitor freezing we can limit down the possible errors.

As long as the sticks have equal speeds, and are not damaged they will work regardless of Manufacturer or if they have microchips on one or both sides.

What screen saver settings have you got up and running, do you leave it for a minute and it turns itself off? If so check the power management settings, left click on desktop then properties then screen saver tab, then power management.

Sorry, but we do get some people who have zero tech knowledge. Do you have drivers for the speakers? If so install them, or reinstall them, or find the latest versions online at there site. Also check under Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices , that everything isn't muted, and that you are in the correct advanced setting, to the correct type of speakers.
Has your keyboard got a mute button, just to make sure that it is registering that it is muted or not.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Have you got all of the speakers set up correctly? They come with a cable with a green end which plugs into the Out port on the motherboard, check you have it in the green hole and not the blue one.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Also I believe there is a league table of the best racers, am i right in that?

I'd personally get a PS3, just to see Gran Turismo in it's HD Glory :)

Seeing as you have a back catalogue of games on the PS2, i would go for the PS3, so you can still play them.

Also the PS3 is the cheapest Blue-Ray Player :P

Welcome to my first ever tutorial.
This tutorial will be about RAM or random access memory, if you want the long hand version, along with Graphics Cards.

Now RAM is one of the most crucial parts of the computer, being the short term memory for the computer. The RAM holds all of the data that is being used at present, so the more of it the better. When you turn off your computer, any data left on the RAM is gone.

Graphics Cards, or GFX cards as they are known by, are another crucial part of the modern computer system. They help with what is displayed on your monitor, to make it crystal clear.

I have made this tutorial to help with many problems that occur with RAM and GFX cards.

Section 1: RAM

RAM is a very delicate and pricey part of the computer. It is delicate because they are quite fragile, but they are very susceptible to static shock, so when finding your RAM always wear an anti-static wrist band, to prevent damaging your RAM. This is a ‘stick’ of RAM: here
The black rectangles are the microchips that temporarily store the data, while the contacts at the bottom allow a good contact between the bay that the RAM sits in and the RAM itself. Do not touch the contacts; otherwise you way impede the current which transfers the data between the computer and the RAM.
A trick …

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

The amount of chips doesn't matter!
I have 2 1Gb sticks, one with microchips on 1 side, the other with chips on both sides :P
So no they weren't 'jipping' you there at all, it's what is in the chip that counts, not how many you have of them.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Specs is the computers specification, such as RAM, CPU power, Graphics card etc.
This can be found by:
A sticker maybe on the front of your machine, saying what it has in it.
OR
Control Panel -> System -> Copy down the information under where it says "Manufactured and Supported by:"
Then copy down any info up to the 'Support Information' Button.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Well, are these video files that you have copied from a film DVD? If so they might have copyright protection not allowing you to copy them onto your system which you may have done, or is the problem lying with just playing it from the DVD drive? Your computer stats seem up to the job, easily, have you had a virus or an attack recently which you thought you had dealt with?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

What format are these videos in?
Also what graphics card are you currently using?
