Hello and Welcome to Daniweb :)
So nothing appears when you hit F8? Strange, Have you accidentally removed any of the Power supply cables inside the machine? That could cause an issue like this.
Press F8 repeatedly otherwise the computer doesn't realise you want the boot menu to show up. Did you just press it once? Once you have pressed F8 a lot, then select the Safe Mode option press enter and it should turn on as normal. Then re-check all the options you unchecked to make sure that it boots.

Hello and Welcome to Daniweb :)
Are you able to boot into Safe mode? To do this press F8 continuously at startup. Then select the option "Safe Mode" and press Enter. If you can get into Safe mode post back here.
Also try moving the RAM sticks from slot to slot, 1 at a time in each slot, booting the computer in-between to see if it is a bad RAM stick or RAM slot at fault.
Microsoft NO (must be a yes/no answer question :P
Do you like Windows Vista?
Have you replaced any hardware recently? Or opened up the case for any reason?
Are you sure that all the correct Power supply cables are plugged in everywhere that they need to be?
Cause you suck bennet :P Everyone knows my comp is the best mate :D
Even though i have a Vista score of 0 because i don't run the software!
For future reference you may want to try this website:

You select the game before you buy it, and it scans your system to see if the game your selected can be played by your computer. It also shows you what you would need if your computer does not pass any criteria of the minimum and recommended specifications of the game.
Ruddy hell, he's lucky his face wasn't burnt badly.
Some eye-treatments have a very high percentage of good outcomes, because they have good after procedure service in the UK. I am short-sighted, but i don't want lasers poking around on my retina!
Hi and Welcome

Definitely looks like a problem with your cooling. Check to see what can be done by Dell or yourself to increase the amount of cooling.
If the Laptop is very hot, this would point to overheating being the cause of your BSOD. The hardware failure error would be the Laptop telling you that it has stopped itself from overheating by showing the BSOD, forcing you to shut-down or reboot. I would see if you can add more fans into the laptop itself or keep the laptop as cool as possible, not blocking the fans currently in use. Did the BSOD have any white error text that looked similar to: "0x0000..."?
If it did have an error message like that, jot it down if it next appears and post it here.
You still can try a system restore. Just be careful that you don't send it too far back, and that you keep any documents etc. that you have created after the date you are restoring back to.
7 UP :)

Is it running XP or Vista?
Also have you tried doing a system restore back to a point when these 'seams' didn't appear?

Is this still going?!?
Could at a long shot be a virus, so i would update your anti-virus & anti-spyware protection, then run a full system scan. Might find something lurking around in your system.
