When powering up, it whirs, the fan starts and a few seconds later ( between 3 & 10) it shuts down never reaching the onscreen COMPAQ logo. Happened after a restart when I …
Re: Watch out for adsense The amount of times they close accounts due to what they call "click robot software" being used is unbelievable. I got my account closed because they said I was generating clicks in this way, not because I had put the time and effort in to generate …

Re: [QUOTE=tsiattalou;353592]Hi, Did you manage to get to the bottom of this. The symtoms have appeared on my Toshiba Satellitte 3000 X4. Screen is almost completely blank (you can just about make about dialoge boxes etc if you look very close). But other than that the computer seems to be working. …

Re: Could well be due to a fault on the charging circuit. Tell me, does it come with a seperate Charger Board? These are notorious for causing charging and power faults. If it does have a charger board try swapping it with a good known spare (ebay is your friend for …
Re: the jumpers he refers to would be where you connect the leads from the power button and front panel of the case into the MOBO. If these are wrong you dont get much life out of the system. * ![]()
Re: yep check all things thermal first (fans, vents etc) clean out all dust from the system, I find a little WD40 sprayed into the bearings of the fans helps give it a new lease of life. Once it is all clean, boot it up again. If it still shuts down, …
Re: [QUOTE=willcomp;556625]The reason it's shutting off after about 5 seconds is because you "hot wired" the power switch. Power switch is a momentary contact switch. When it stays closed (as in your case), the PC will soft power off after the preset time delay which is usually 4 or 5 seconds. …
Re: [QUOTE=cart0181;553378]Thanks Kegtapper. You're my kind of Tech. I'm one that "forges ahead." Thanks for not being discouraging. My motto is "anything is repairable," but as you said in your post, it's not always worth it. I'm just starting out getting into motherboard repair. I've done capacitors and jacks, but I'm …
Re: phpbb is easy to use and highly customisable, plus its free as free could be. I regularly setup people with phpbb because of the lack of cost but the high level of support out there for it. *

Re: CAPTCHA codes work very well for me, also the more difficult they are the less you get through the doors so to speak. Unfortunately the more difficult ones I struggle to read, lol so it's a balance really *
Re: yep sounds like poor thermal displacement on the old (well new) CPU *

Re: Does seem like a dead psu no chance of swapping it with somebodyy elses psu to check ;) *
Re: its a difficult one to read sounds like they re-applied thermal paste I suppose on the cpu? Make sure the heatsink is sitting FLUSH to the cpu, ensuring that the cpu doesnt over heat and cause a shutdown *
Re: Maybe a loose connection in the case. If you feel confident open it up and check all cabling to make sure everything is connected as it should be ;) *
Re: is it a desktop or a notebook??? if it's a desktop could be an underpowed PSU, get a bigger wattage put in it and see if it gives more stab ability :D *
Re: Change it via the language bar down in the bottom right of the screen. *
Re: So you overclocked your processor? So may have pushed it over its limits *
Re: Sounds like heat damage. Extreme temperatures cause the solder joins to become brittle and break. So the temperature range causes expansion and contraction of the joints, causing stress and then breakage. So once it's warm its obviously making a better connection due to the contraction being experienced. Try a good …
Re: Sounds like a faulty power rail. Ebay could be your saviour trying to find your MB for the laptop. Gotta be the same type due to the port outs in the plastics etc. * |
The End.
