I have 4 20000rpm 500gb IBM drives in my server - they rock as there SCSI RAID. In my experience Maxtor are prone to failure. Seagate are good as there a good company and are reliable.

Under Fedora which is similar to redhat use redhat-config-services and set smb and winbind to on then save so they is activated on bootup. Also,I know of lots of monitors and packet spy programs but excel - I dont think so...

You need to disable the onboard motherboard graphics in the BIOS to use the graphics card you got.

SIS cards tend to be iffy. I ahve 3 and only 1 works, UNIX and NT type systems seem to hate them

go into accessability under control panel - its a wheelchair icon and uncheck sticky keys. This works for win 9x and 2k so try it on XP

I have had this before. You may need a bigger PSU as there is not enough power for the drive

Those proliant 1600 hdd drive at 2.1 gig each - can you buy them anywhere still as it wont take a standard IDE one and other SCSI drives dont fit into the rails.

I dunno about your Redhat but Fedora 1 which is similar comes with FIPS for partitionsing

I baught a new Pentium 4 machine and to my shock you cant boot of the CD drive. Its a really old model and needs special dos drivers. To combat this I made a linux kickstart floppy with the modules on it.

If you are doing asp pages in visual studio then you technicahly neeed IIS. However, I have XP Home which technichaly doesnt have IIS but I can do asp in VS 2005 but not VS 2003. I hope this helps even if it is confusing.

Are you talking about microsft visual basic 2003 step by step - I have it and it is quite good. A lot of microsoft books are too technichal but for a newbie or someone moving to VB. NET it is good.

I dont know about Red Hat 9 But in red hat Fedora core you can go into GNOME and right click on the trash and select a check box to get the prompt asking yes or no.

I dont know about HP, but I have an old second hand compaq proliant which runs fine as an overall router/dns/mail/web/file server. I know there are other distrobutions but I used Fedora Core and installation was dead easy

I ran red hat fedora on a 250mhz p2 64 mb ram 2gb hdd compaq proliant server - it installed easialy and had not much problems.
