your errors indicate a broken dashboard/system files. looks like you will have to buy a new xbox. old style ones are cheap anyway and wont get you in trouble with the law.

an old win98 thinkpad of mine does this too. I think its a firmware issue as it reads DVDs ok but only pressed ones (no +/-rs or rws). With cds it can read rs but not rws. It has been like this since i got it.

Hmm. Check the system manual. I have a wierd IBM laptop and no matter what you set the boot order too it never wants to boot from the windows cd? I alwats have to hit the key when it says "Hit xx to choose a boot device"

Is the pc by any chance an IBM or a Dell?

Thats good. What i would have recommended otherwise was maybe direct connection but I dont think that would have solved the problem in your case (an external hdd of mine broke before so i dismanteled it and found it was just a regular SATA hdd inside, so i put it inside my pc and it worked again. I think the controller on the external casing was broken)

Do not use fdisk. If you delete your recovery partition and/or wipe your MBR you will nto be able to reinstall the OS!

I think your hard disk is dead/damaged and therefore so is the recovery partition. I think youre looking at a hard disk or os (or more easialy , a new pc)

I dont think the boot reord is in need of repair?

Look into using the windows command chkdsk (google it, i cant remember which switches and paramaters you have to use to repair)

Actually, it ,may be easier to go into Control panel -> admin tools -> computer management -> disk management

right click on the disk you want to check and choose properties

go into the tools tab and choose error-checking.

You may need to reboot (it should say)

Checking can take > 2 hours sometimes

Speedwize it should be ok, it will just run at the lower speed, however i am not sure about it being a different type of DDR though. I dont think DDR2 work in pcs which are meant for DDR1

No, sounds like a DNS Problem to me. If you system is not able to correctly resolve domain names to IP adresses then it can often lead to a situation where you can only visit sites which you have previously visited. Check your network setup. If it still does not work try right clicking on the connection in network connections (control panel) and choosing Repair.
