Re: You wouldn't believe that this desktop is over a year old by just looking at it. I keep the icons hidden and the icon tray clean. I can't sit stand sitting down to a messy computer.
Re: I've been having about the same probelem as everybody else. I recently rebuilt my Dell Dimmension 4600 case. I didn't like the plasticy look so I hand carved a wooden one. When I was testing it, I noticed that the processer fan bearings were going out. It sounded like an …
Re: You probably won't be able to recover anything if the chip inside the drive was damaged, but there is a (very) slim chance you might be able to return the drive for a replacement.
Re: Try downloading and installing the latest drivers and software for your DVD writer. Be sure to completely uninstall the old drivers. You may want to do the same for the motherboard/IDE controller if the above doesn't work.
I recently received an Acer Aspire 5100 laptop with a Hard Drive Failure post (fixed disk 0 failure). I immediately assumed the hard drive wasn't plugged in securely or it had failed. I proceeded to swap the drive out and test the old hard drive in another computer. It turns …
Re: I probably would not buy a PSP just because I never was much of a console gamer [the newest console I have is N64] because a laptop, or a even a desktop, (in my opinion) can do so much more than a $200+ dollar box and 20 $20 to $70 …

Re: Power supplies can be tricky business and usually can't be fixed, but if you're feeling lucky get the screwdriver. My guess is that during shipping either the fuse inside the PSU came loose or the motherboard plug wasn't making full contact. First you would want to see if you could …
Re: RAM: You might want to clean the contacts on the ram and the motherboard. See if that helps. If not, you might need new ram. Modem: If you can, remove the modem then uninstall the modem software/drivers. Reboot then reinstall and connect modem.
Hello and Hapy Thanksgiving! I've recently set up an old Compaq Deskpro 2000 as a web server. I'm running Damn Small Linux and Apache 2.0.54. Everything works perfect except for one small thing—Apache doesn't start with the system. Does anyone know how to setup Apache to startup when the system …

Re: I'm using firefox beta 2. Works perfect. Why do people automatically assume firefox is to blame when something goes wrong? *edit* I'm probably going to get flamed for saying that. Most of the time, the best job is done by yourself. I'm never going to Jiffy Lube.
Re:
Just a quick note: You can open a Dell system and not void your warranty. Just be prepared to remove any device from your Dell system that it didn't ship with if you ever need to call them to troubleshoot.
Removing every device from my system is far easier said …
Re: You most likely lost a driver in the format. I don’t know if linksys requires this, but be aware that some cards must be taken out of the computer before installing the drivers/software. I may be wrong about your card, but it’s best to make sure and possibly save some …
Re: I've been using Firefox for quite some time now. I based my decision to use Firefox on stability, security, and usability (tabbed browsing). Re: This might be a 'lame' idea, but I saw a computer on a commercial for an antivirus software that had parasites, worms, bugs, etc... crawling out of and all over it. I duno, that's kind of a hard thing to think up; a funny/scary computer costume.
Re: I'm not familiar with Hijack This!, but I may be able to help you. I used to use McAfee Security, but I noticed some of the same probelms your having were happening to me. Slowing down, errors, applications not starting until shutdown, and other symptoms that my computer was being …
Re: I would just try unistalling and reinstalling internet explorer.
