One last question Why not the other people were banned who posted there the same thing i haven't at all copy pasted but they surely did that..... any ways bye

Accounts are only banned when infraction points reach a total of 10.

Other posts in that thread have been deleted and, where appropriate, members have been issued keep it legal infractions. However, if those members did not have any infraction points already, as you did, then their accounts would not be banned.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

The rules are there for the benefit of everyone, and that includes both members of the community and DaniWeb itself as a business. The Keep It Legal rule protects DaniWeb from action that could be taken against us if people are breaching copyright by posting content that is not theirs to post.

In your case the post was, for the most part, a straight cut and paste of content lifted from another website. You say that you never said they were your words, but the fact remains they were posted using your account and so that is the reasonable assumption everyone makes.

You say it was 'given that these words are from where' but actually all that you did was add two external links stating 'details here and here' which again do nothing to disclaim your ownership of the content.

Both your keep it legal infractions were given by admins (myself and Narue) who are very well aware of how to interpret the rule. There was no mistake, this was not a borderline decision, it was a clear cut infraction. The first infraction drew your attention to the ruling, and suggested you familiarize yourself with it to prevent any further breaches.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

You are banned because, as explained in the PM that accompanied your Keep It Legal infraction, it is against the rules to cut and paste content from another website and then post it here as if it were your own. This breaches the Keep It Legal rule and gets you a 5 point infraction. You already had an active Keep It Legal infraction for posting a code snippet that was a verbatim copy of code published elsewhere, this took your total points to 10 which automatically means your account is banned until your points expire.

Don't take it to heart, is all I can say. Most reasonable people would probably agree with you on this one, but every member has the right to their own opinion and to express that (as long as they do not break the rules in terms of being unpleasant etc) by leaving reputation and up or down voting.

Hehe, prepare for disappointment come the World cup then - based upon the overall Irish performance in the 6N. Sad to say, for much of the time, the Irish looked like a team past the sell by date.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

Being English myself, erm nope - despite my Irish Romany heritage!

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

I think the overall result for the 6n was about right, in terms of England on top ahead of France. Ireland and Wales could have switched places, as could Scotland and Italy in the end.

England - typical loss of focus half way through a tournament
France - great start, great finish, loss of focus in the middle
Ireland - great finish, crap the rest of the tournament
Wales - never got out of first gear
Scotland - brief flickers of promise but nothing more
Italy - great performance against France but little else

All in all, not the most memorable of 6N tournaments for me...

First things first, you can feel free to ask your questions here at DaniWeb without worrying about having to pay - this is a free IT support and discussion community, nobody charges you anything to provide all the help and advice you need.

As for the rankings you mention, well every time you post something to DaniWeb members of the community have the opportunity to either up or down vote your posting depending on whether they found it useful, interesting or perhaps confusing or in breach of the rules. Most of the time, most members will not vote on postings at all, but if you've contributed something particularly worthy people may be inclined to reward your effort with an up vote and possibly some reputation points which are just a further method of showing gratitude.

The more you post and the greater your reputation score becomes, so the more power you have to influence the reputation of others.

The Scottish defence was pretty damn good, plenty of heart in the second half. I think England took the afternoon off, lucky to get the win. Predictable...

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

Big congrats to Italy. That put the biggest smile on my face of the whole 6N so far, even bigger than when England thrashed them. Italy deserved that win, France played with so little heart it was embarrassing.

And well done Wales, about time some of the luck of the Irish went your way - although how the linesman missed the new ball for that pass to Phillips is beyond me. Was he polishing his nails or something?

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

I think some national coaches just have a real problem with letting go of what they know and trust, even when it patently isn't working any more, and taking a risk on something new. Certainly that was the case with Johnson and England, where he insisted on keeping all his old chums from the World Cup winning side - Borthwick as captain was the most obvious old mate hanger on I reckon - and kept losing until he pushed them away for the new blood that has proved so devastating in the 6N so far.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

The Boks need to select those awesome young players though, and start kicking the old guard into touch. Let's face it, they have looked pretty static in many of their recent games.

South Africa now reminds me of England six months ago: all that promising young talent, but a manager who prefers to play the same tired old men in the same tired old way. No disrespect to Wilkinson, but look at the difference Flood made at number 10...

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

:) I'm guessing you will not be sending Andy Robinson a Xmas card this year then?

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

I await the announcement of the England line up with interest, and am hoping that Johnson doesn't meddle too much and 'try out' some different players to get an idea of how they might for the world cup as some have suggested. My hope is that Scotland is treated with the respect the team deserves, despite the relatively poor performance so far in the 6N.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

OK, so it's Six Nations weekend coming up again: predictions?

England will beat Scotland, can't see any reason this year of all years to break the 23 year home run of Calcutta Cup victories.

Likewise, I can't see Italy bothering the French winning record in Rome much either.

Wales and Ireland will be the match of the weekend I reckon, should be very close and very tough on all concerned. I, for one, cannot summon up a prediction for this though. My Irish genes want them to win, but my love of Wales (we plan to move to North Wales when the kids have finished school and buggered off) says the Welsh deserve this one.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

Can I just say Exeter Chiefs, wowser! What a performance against an admittedly underspecced and struggling without Ashton/Foden Saints side, but what a performance nonetheless.

I've always said that if the Tigers were not my closest premiership team (Leeds are about the same distance in actual train/drive time but they obviously don't count) then I would probably support the Saints as I love the way they play. But if the Chiefs were on my doorstep I'd be proud to wave the tomahawk and do the ha ha ha ha Indian chant (well maybe not, they sound like right knobs doing that)...

Aaaaargh! Tigers lose at home to Saracens, again!!! Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Seriously, what a way to spend your Saturday afternoon: getting cold and wet, angry, elated and ultimately disappointed. Sort of sums the game up for me :)

Now, if I can just find Billy Twelvetrees, the ref and a big box of dynamite I should be able to make everything better...

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

@HG - can't agree more. Imagine our befuddlement at the fact that the WRU chose him as the face of their advertising campaign just before Christmas. I reckon a soup dragon was involved somewhere in that plot.

I felt really sorry for the Welsh lads who had been giving their all, playing for the national team and giving their all and yet were looked over for that gig in favour of someone who had pretty much proven he couldn't give a toss about club or country.

Seriously, you guys need to get rid of Warren Gatland and the upper echelons of the Welsh game who employ him...

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

Who is playing flyhalf if he is not playing?

I think Saracens are playing Owen Farrell, son of Andy Farrell, at the moment. He's actually pretty good for a kid, but he is still a kid and needs his game to mature somewhat before you'd consider him a rel top flight premiership player in my opinion.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

People rate him highly due to his profile more than anything. I think his courting of fame may backfire on him.

Henson narks me as he has pretty much proven that he doesn't take rugby seriously enough. The guy was a total genius, then decided he liked the 'celeb' thing a little too much.

To think that he somehow has a right to come straight back into the game at the same level as he left it, on his terms, after pretty much sticking his middle finger up at the game for the last couple of years is, to be kind, delusional of him. He just does not deserve a first team place at any first flight team until he has proven he can still play. The evidence so far would suggest he cannot.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

Somehow I don't think Ardav is a great fan of the English premiership ;)

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

Saracens did sign Charlie Hodgson, but he's not starting until next season. Which kind of leaves them a bit short in the 'really good fly half' department.

And that's about the only good news for Tigers at the weekend I reckon.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

Henson? Nah, he was so crap that Saracens released him from his contract after just a couple of games and he can now be found being very crap for Toulon. :)

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

Is Hougaard match fit yet? I thought he was still off with that ripped hamstring.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

Tigers v Saracens should be an interesting match, what with the core of the Tigers team on international duty and the core of Saracens being South African so pretty much a full strength squad there.

Not to mention the fact that Saracens are the only team to win at Welford Road since October 2008, of course :)

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

For some reason the phrase 'luck of the Irish' keeps ringing around my head today. I felt sorry for Scotland not coming away with the win, to be honest, and I have Irish blood (I'm of Irish Romany descent on the paternal side of the family, Arab on the maternal) in me.

Also, Nigel Owens had a stinker of a game IMHO. If he got them any closer in the scrum he'd have to shout "Crouch, Kiss, Cuddle, Engage" I reckon. I know it's easy to lambast the refs, and I bloody love it (the wife will testify to my anti-ref ranting during televised matches) but Nigel made some really bad decisions which cost the Scots dear in that game.

Ireland will need to kick most of their team into touch and start from scratch if they want to make any real impact during the World Cup methinks. They are just starting to look, well, really old and stale.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

One does have to wonder how things might have panned out if the home advantage had been reversed though.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

Wow, what a game just finished. England, on their home turf, well done. Not what I expected at least. Palmer deserved man of the match.

Blinding game of rugby. Not pretty at all, but talk about physical commitment from both sides.

For me, the revelation was the way that England were able to come out after the half time team talk and completely ramp up the game, pushing forwards into the breakdown and correct the errors of the first half. The French didn't look prepared for that.

Fair play to the French (and the weather) for totally shutting down Ashton, apart from the forward pass 'try' which was a shame - although not as big a shame as Tindall being giving a 'non' for his which, to be fair, I thought looked OK.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

Too close. Wales rubbish again. My prediction: 16:22 result 16:24. Not bad.

Wales deserved to win that one, mainly because Bergamasco (known as McDonald Fiasco here for obvious reasons) kicking was total crap. If Italy ever find someone who can kick consistently well, they might actually not come last in the six nations every year.

Work during the morning - then the afternoon is taken up with watching the live matches followed by those I recorded at the same time (ESPN HD, Sky Sports HD) and often I'll even throw one of those 'highlight round up' shows into my night time viewing.

Of course, if the Tigers are playing at home then the family are happy as I'm out of their hair for half a day. I spoil it when I get home and watch the match again, having recorded it of course!!!

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

That's it, England can get stuffed: give Flood and Youngs back to the Tigers. After that poor display tonight against the Sharks, I think we need them more :)

Club before country, that's my motto. Especially after a few too many pints of Spitfire. Actually, I'm not sure you can have too many Spitfires...

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

>You reckon flair has shifted across the Channel or was that tongue-firmly-in-the-cheek stuff?

I do believe, with Flood and Youngs plus Ashton and Foden, that England has actually found a decent amount of flair. It might not always show across the full 80 minutes, but it's certainly there.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

I agree that the England/France match should be close, but with Johnson pretty much leaving the side alone (apart from Sheridan coming back after injury) and the home advantage I reckon France will find it hard to scrape a win out of it. In fact, I'm pretty concerned, looking at the French side, that they are going to be going for a boring kicking game to try and counter the new found English dynamism and flair for running the ball.

As for Italy/Wales that's also going to be close if Italy can find the kind of form they did at home against Ireland. Or not close at all if they play like they did against England. But then the same could be said about Wales at the moment, up and down like a whore's drawers both of them.

Scotlnad/Ireland I'm in total agreement that, on current form, Ireland look like walking all over the Scots.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

There is no magic bullet for reputation points, they are awarded by members if and when they feel rep is deserved (and often not given even when it is deserved).

All I can suggest is that you keep helping people out and your rep will slowly build, it's not an instant gratification thing. As your profile rises on DaniWeb so your reputation as someone who is helpful will grow and your rep alongside it.

Good luck!

Plenty of people have talked about doing something like that, but the practicalities of if running properly are huge. Not least the problem of verification (every site would have to be manually inspected, and I mean every page and every link - can you imagine the media outcry not to mention legal liability if a site was registered and approved as kid safe yet had a porn link somewhere for example.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

The only way you can try to prevent kids under 12 viewing the site is to introduce some form of registration during which the age restriction is made clear. If they lie, then there's not a lot you can do about it.

There is no central registry for submitting age requirements to parental control software systems, of which there are many of course. The methods they use to determine suitability are pretty varied, and ultimately it comes down to a combination of algorithms and user feedback as a rule as to whether your site is deemed kid friendly or not.

Daft as it may seem, there is no method (other than the registration approach) for a content provider/web publisher to determine who can or cannot visit their sites.

Yeah, I just keep trying to convince myself that this is 'another 2004 team' which will not do the usual England thing and just get lazy/go to sleep/turn off like they usually do after a good game or two.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

Will it be Scotland to thwart them again?

Not if the Scots play like they did against Wales, no.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

Hmmm, well neither Ireland nor France were particularly convincing this afternoon. Too much loose play on both sides, a draw would have been the fairer result overall.
