Why post in purple? It's annoying, and it doesn't make your posting any easier to read. If what you have to say is worthy then you don't need flashing lights, bright colours, big pointy arrows etc as the content will stand up for itself.

I'd forgotten about Atomic on the iPad, it's been ages since I looked at that. Might be worth a quick re-download and taking another look then for those times I only have the pad with me when I need to do DaniWeb stuff.

Different bits of the UI don't work on different mobile device platforms, not least as there is no dedicated 'mobile DaniWeb' interface. So, for example, anything Flash powered doesn't work on an iOS device.

Quality and consistency of contributions does it every single time over qauntity. Or put another way, it's not who can yell the loudest in order to get noticed but those we notice are quietly getting on with helping others that tend to get the nod for a mod job.

Someone whose name is unknown to me, be that a new member or one that has just started posting actively, and all of a sudden has gained enough activity points to be on the radar is generally: getting help with a difficult problem, or spamming. The top stats activity points list helps flag such accounts for further investigation.

It's helpful to trap the occasional spammer when a newly created, or newly active, account appears in the activity points top twenty list. A quick check of that member reveals if the activity is genuine or spammy.

Please read the rules - in particular: "Do not ask for help to pursue any illegal activity including, but not limited to, hacking..."

It's very difficult to know if your request is genuine or you are just trying to access something you shoulnd't be. It's also very hard for our members to offer you help without breaking the rules as a result...

No, you should simply abide by the rules. It really isn't that difficult...

The vast majority of DaniWeb members do not find it particularly difficult to post in the correct forums, without being abusive or rude, and without spamming. Most DaniWeb members who do break the rules, usually early on in their membership, take heed of any warning or infraction given and make sure they do not break the rules again, especially the same rule they were warned/infracted for breaking the first time.

So the answer is yes, you should make sure that each and every post abides by the rules, just like everyone else here does.

These explain quite succintly how to get those infraction points and, indeed, how to avoid them...

You were given 2 infraction points under the 'keep it organized' rule after posting the same question in multiple forums, this following a promise you made to me not to break the rules any more (following your breaking of the keep it pleasant rule by stalking one of the mods, copying/stealing his avatar and making a nuisance of yourself - for which you did not get any infractions as I chose to give you a chance to behave yourself and correct your behavior instead).

After that keep it organized infraction the reason was explained and you stated "will not do in future" - after which you broke exactly the same rule once again. Hence the second infraction, and another 2 points.

It's not that anyone doesn't want you here, but everyone wants you to abide by the rules which apply to everyone. You only have 4 infraction points, you are not banned until you hit 10 points. Your existing points will expire by the end of October. If you abide by the rules then you will not get banned and your points will disappear.

Please explain why we should make an exception for you, and not infract when you break the rules? I am all ears...

Cracked software distribution pre-dates the Internet, of course. The cracking groups, also known as Demo groups at the time IIRC, on the Amiga (and to a lesser extent PC and Atari) platform existed to break copy protection on software and then redistribute either by post or BBS.

My understanding of portable softare is that it's simply anything coded so that it can run from removable media such as a USB thumb drive, for example. In the context of my experience, it also leaves no trace of usage behind on the host machine that portable media is connected to - portable browser, email client etc. And, yes, it is legal.

As for cracked software, are you serious? That is software which has had the copy protection broken so as to run without a commercial license being required. And, yes, it is illegal.
