did you do a disk cleanup lately ,go to mycomputer and click on the drive in question and right click it ,click properties and click disk cleanup, click to delete what ever it finds .

Hi, I unzipped the file and download it to system folder but after I reboot the system, I still get the same error message.

Check c:\windows and if there is also a system32 folder put a copy of the file there also !

Where are you trying to open it from ,Desktop icon /or in start intenet explorer ./ or in all progrms /internt explorer . Have you tried all 3 icons to connect to IE

oops forgot the details - windows 98 downloaded realplayer and didn't like it . when i uninstalled the real player, the regular cd player wouldn't work, kicked up the missing pncrt.dll message. tried to download the dll using the winzip program, but nothing happens. this shouldn't be this hard what am i doing wrong?

You don't use winzip to download it ,you use winzip to open the dowladed file and you then put the dll in you c:\windows\system folder .get the dll here ,2 click to get it .Click here to download pncrt.dll then when the next page opens , Download pncrt.dll ,then use winzip to unzip it ,direct winzip to the c:\windows\system ,Folder and hit unzip file

The zip file you download contains the DLL plus a readme file, you put the DLL in the system folder ,and do what you want with the readme file .

Important: Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT.
Unzip HijackThis into this folder. When you run HijackThis from this folder and have it "Fixed checked" it will create a backup file of modifications to use if restore is necessary.

you could try going to tools/ internet options /security and privacy in IE ,and reset to the default levels .

get a blank floppy disk ,put in the a: drive and go to Start,settings control panel,add and remove programs ,and click on create bootdisk. or download one ,and copy it to the floppy.

How do you connect to the insternet dialup or DSL/Cable .If dialup do you connect first and then click on the email this file in the my picture folder .

is msn your default email program .if not try this .
go to Internet explorer ,tools /internet options /programs and select what email program you want to use as the default .and try again .
Maybe if you do use MSN ,when you are loging,put in you password and see if you can check off to login automaticly

I don't know why people use and rely on those 2 email programs ,why not just use the one provided by your internet service provider !

Perhaps you have 2 or more cdroms and you are putting the recovery cd in the wrong cdrom .

Before reloading ,when you boot computer with the bootdisk at the a: prompt type in SCANREG /FIX to see if it will repair your registry .or SCANREG /RESTORe and try to restore back to a earlier date ,you should get a choice of 5 different ones.

Me again, I have rebooted the Compaq5300, changed the floppy drive and installed the CDrom drive. Inserted the windows 98SE disc, started the notebook back up, it now tells me invalid system disc. Replace the disc and press any key. Over, and Over again. HELP again!
