cant test it on a help forum that for sure ,you will need to have a tech look at it . ,and as far as cost goes that depends on the severity of he problem, and what the local computer rate is in you area !.

NO! ,thats what im trying to tell you .it could be a lot of things besides the video , I have replaced dozens of power supply that will power on but not boot windows fully and show anything on the screen ,I use a power supply tested to check the psu, before i change it !

you could open the tower and unplug cd drives ,remove any pci addin cards if any, remove ram ,and then try and boot.if it make beeps because of missing ram reinstall it ,if you have more than one stick of ram just put one back in and try again .
a power supply going bad can cause it to only half boot up!

hard to help with that ,because it could be anything ,actuall it could be a bad power supply , or ram even ,do the cdroms open ,can you hear the windows sounds if enabled ,do you hear the harddrive running .

hi ,does the computer bootup at all ! if it does what happens ,and how do you know it the video that is causing the problem, if it boots up but has bad graphics ,maybe you just need to install video drivers .
as for getting new GMA 900 graphics processor that would involve changing the motherboard,or PCI conventional video card

not likely ,it would boot and show the first screen ,i would say to make sure you have the front panel power button plugged in correctly ,also what is make and model # of the motherboard

If I'm reading it right it seem to be that you want to know if reinstalling it will make it not a counterfeit copy ,my answer is NO! it will always be a counterfeit copy . or if reinstalling it will get rid of the nag screen then my answer is yes

You say you tried it on the onboard video connection and nothing happened ,did you remove the video card from the computer when you tried that .

also when you clean video card fan of dust are you also cleaning the processor fan and the power supply fan as well !

also, if its a sata harddrive you will need to load drivers for the controller,by hitting f6 on winxp install . you will need the drivers ,they are usuallly on the motherboard disk or on the dell site. using the tag on the dell case go here and type in the tag number,

GPU =Graphic processing unit , . so that makes it related to the temp of you video cards main chip!the one with the heatsinc or heatsinc,and fan.

the computer was built from a dell xps model, i do know it has a different sound card

so its not just simply a dell xps

my opinion is that the correct video drivers weren't installed after the winxp reload !
go to device manager and check for any red and yellow ! or x indicating driver problems

you should post in the Vista forum section ,and also Vista has the ability to partition a drive with out 3rd party software through the disk management section

NO, not necessarily ,what you need is to take you computer to a computer repair shop and have it checked out ,no one here can tell you have a bad drive based on the little info you gave about a burning problem !it could be just a bad disk burner

as the trojans you have will likely stop you from getting it from any site ,also try the link in my signature for superyantispyware ,

anywas cant to run a few programs to try a fix .
first is not a program but a windows command ,you may have already done this .
from RUN , type in "sfc /scannow" with out the " and there is a space between C and /, you will need the windows cd to replace missing system files .

then may i suggest ,www.ccleaner .com , to remove tmp files and also clean up registry .
then this superantispyware ,to check for and remove any nasties .the link is in my signature .

good currant antivirus helps but doesn't always catch it or its different variants ,latest is called antispy 2009 i think ,download ccleaner to have install and use to clean temp files and folders .

Here's what we do here at home to stop it from installing on computer . because all commands on the first screen that pops up are "yes" like, cancel /no/ the X in the corner !
don't touch anything ,do a ctrl+alt+del , go applications and end task , open and run ccleaner scan harddrive and clean out temps ,reboot computer ,Remember ,next time you open browser if it asks if you want to restore last time connected say no and start new ! or else it will try and load scan 2009 all over again
