Something keeps seizing my computer & I don't know if someone is trying to hack in or what. I have to reboot each time & someone set up my new wireless router & it worked when he set it up, but now it's not, so I'm going straight thru the cable modem now :(

We defraged & I've run every program & Anti Vir is up-to-date & scans & updates daily.

Update...

I tried a system restore 3 times, it did not give me back my TB folders :(

I'll just restrict the user's account for now.

Unfortunately he has a limited imagination to play & have multiple hobbies, as do sooooo many kids these days.

He never used to be addicted until he came across this game (Maple Story) & now he IMs w/ his 1/2 brother & friends instead of just talking on the phone like we used to. In fact b4 I couldn't even get him to go on to the bloody thing.

No I can't have him in my office, I'm busy working & I can't have distractions.

No offense taken, I know it's an emotional issue, but I'm unable to just "solve" his anti social problems & little did I know that he would be sooo much more comfortable socializing online than in person, but hey, so do millions of other scared fear based humans who are double & triple his age.

Anyone wish to change their behaviour too LOL It's an unfortunate foreshadowing & even current reality. Pretty soon no one will see eachother anymore, they will be married thru the bloody computer & I happen to be a nettie & an nentrepreneur, but understand more & more how crucial it is that we need real live human interaction.

Wow, my log file is great LOL, that's a first.

I'm not sure if it's just FF, but I have a HUGE memory drain on my computer that happens every so often & I have tons of memory too.

Can't remember how to find it without rebooting.

Btw, have you ever heard of this program & if yes, your thoughts about whether I should pay for it, as the free version is just about to run out...

Not seeing anything bad in your log. You may want to try uninstalling FF and download the latest version. Version 2.0 being it.

Well, I guess it's about time I do this.

He won't stop playing one particular video game no matter how many times I delete it from his computer, or he agrees to stop or limit his time, so I need to control the entire computer & if I can give him access to only certain areas where he may need things for school, that would be much better.

First, how do I p/w protect the entire computer?

I've had people do it for me, but I've never done it myself.

Second, is there a way to give him access to only certain websites, I doubt it, but figured I'd ask & I'd have to do it for both FF & IE b/c he has both on his computer.

Third, can I give him access to only Word or hotmail?

I don't want to have to go downstairs every time he wants to access the computer, but at this point I guess I don't have a choice, his addication is causing major problems.

Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.

Hi there,

I'm on XP & FF vs. 1.5.0.7 & the cursor keeps hanging every so often.

It cleared up when I shut down FF & restartedm but it's happening again.

Also, I'm not getting websites, I have to refresh the page several times before I can get it & I unplugged the router & the modem & it's still doing it :(

Yes, that happened to me once too, & I pissed the customer off as well, but you know what, I apologized proffucely, explained the situation & he was ok with it b/c I was honest & apologetic about it.

One has to know how to handle customers when they call & not just treat them like they are the guy next door.

This guy just ignored me & I could tell he either didn't care or just didn't understand my English.

That's where he lost me b/c nothing will turn me off faster than people who ignore what I have to say. That's disrespectful & a slap in the face.

I work from home too & I have no problem with people who work from home, but if one gets tons of calls (I don't b/c I would never give out my home #), then I feel at that point it's time to invest in a new number, or at the very least a VM #. That's what I have now, with a complete VM system in place.

In fact I just switched from a local # to a toll free one & I realized this bumps up my image 10 fold. I even get more calls now than I did b4 & yes it costs me an extra $3/month, but how many extra sales do I make too b/c I look more professional?

Yeh right, no offense, glad you enjoy them, but I just tried to call them & here's what happened...

First the guy answers"hello" instead of with a company name. Then I say I didn't know what was going on b/c it sounded like someone's home # & he should probably answer the phone with a company name.

He ignored me which will irk me to no end.

Then it becomes clear he doesn't understand English well enough, so I said I prefer to speak to someone who speaks better English.

I hung up & called the US NY # & he answers again.

He realized it was me & we parted, I asked why he's answering the NY # since he's in Toronto.

If I can't even speak to someone who handles the phones well, that just turns me right off from doing biz.

i use click-share.com. i think they're a good alternative

Pay Pal also doesn't listen to a word you have to say about your case even if you have proof the customer committed fraud etc.

They even allowed a customer of mine to reverse the charge & then reverse the reversal & then months later reverse again claiming they never authorized the transaction when clearly all the while the customer knew exactly what they were doing.

This was on a so called "authorized" account & I trusted PP to do their job & screen people who had such an acct.

Even with a clean account & near perfect record, they treated me like I was a criminal & just took the customer's word no questions asked.

I will never use them again.

Not 100% up to snuff on all the things PP offers, but getting there.

It's not that easy to set up a PP type service.

They also allow for adult or high risk accounts which which won't allow customers to commit fraud & do chargebacks even after receiving the product/service you are selling.

You pay more, but they protect you.

One of my site offer shopping cart. But not sure how flexible you want it to be - fully customise is possible to match your site, but the down side is the shopping cart is hosted on my server rather than yours.

I wouldnt' touch PP if you paid me.

Use Paypal Pro - you can have the payment page look as your site, and you can have subscription too. More importantly, the fee is much lower as compared to 2CO.

you should try chitika the click through rate might go down but I get about 0.16 cents for terms that would pay 0.05 in google so it's definitly worth it if you don't have a high paying keyword site (like lets say a myspace code or arcade type site).

Ok, things are moving along, so my hosted SC is no longer able to support my next project.

I have an application I'm going to be building & I need a shopping cart (server side or OS) that will allow me to not only process my transactions, but also my customer's transactions, as they will be selling stuff on their site thru my application.

My former PPC guy told me about it.

It's way cool, but I can barely find anything on it when I searched.

It conforms your ads according the keywords the customer typed in, so if they typed in buy green apples, the ad you have in your campaign will slot those words into your ad so the customer will be more likely to click. You know, word recognition.

Now he only did it w/ my title & not the content part & he must have taken it down b/c it's not working anymore, hence me wanting to do it for myself.

You may receive a duplicate content penalty by them forwarding their domain to your site.

Since they did it without your permission you should ask them to remove it immediately. If not, use the DMCA to have their site taken down.

Well, I learned something new today :)

I just recently started my affiliate program about a year ago, & since I don't have an experienced affiliate manager, I am learning slowly rather than quickly.

Anyway, I just recently noticed that one of my affiliates had their domain pointing to my site & I got upset, b/c I never gave him him permission to do that.

At first I was using the words "copy", which he was focusing on to avoid taking responsibility for what he was doing & then I realized he wasn't really "copying" my site per say, but I still feel it is unethical, certainly lazy, if not a violation of copyright laws.

Then someone pointed out that maybe Google or other SEs could penalize me b/c his domain is actually forwarded to my site & then the affiliate URL is cloaked.

Does anyone have the answer to this as to whether Google would penalize and/or whether he is actually in violation of copyright laws?

I'd love to hear from another company where this happened to their affiliate program & what they did.

Ok, very strange.

When I closed everything down but my IMing programs & my personal assistant, ZA etc., there were no .tmp files in the processes area, so I didn't disable anything.

I ran cleaner, but when I went to run ewido, it had already expired :( so now I'd have to buy it.

Do I really need it?

I'm going to past the HJthis file here...

Nope, I have a strong feeling that, since its a *.tmp file, its spyware.

SO, after disabeling it, run CCleaner and Ewido again.

Exactly. But, the ~ in the name means that the computer doesn't know exactly what letter, per say, it is.

SO, with luck, it'll appear in the Processes as
~e5d141.tmp . However, it's more likely that the ~ is some other letter or number.

Examples of possiblities:

te5d141.tmp
le5d141.tmp

And such like that.

Yea, good idea, let's try that. However, it'll get caught up on some running processes that we need ended.

SO, let's open the process manager and disable any of the following first:

~e5d141.tmp

where ~ is a random letter or number.

After doing that, run CCleaner and Ewido.

Post back here, after that, with the Ewido log and a new HJT log.

Nope, not using anything wireless.

I don't believe in wireless as there are too many problems.

I did have problems in the past w/ the keyboard only b/c I had to press the "delete" key very very hard to even get it to delte e-mails in Outlook, but I always assumed it was an Outlook problem b/c I have soooo many e-mails in it & Outlook is buggy in general IMO.

The odd time my clipboard doesn't work either.

I can copy & paste to notepad, but not to a site or something simalar.

These problems have happened periodically, it's not a daily thing & for the majority of the time, the delete & copy works.

Can't I just use the cleaner without being in safe mode?

Hmm, I don't know about the Safe mode.

Do ya happen to be using a wireless mouse of the sort?

If so, try using a wired mouse.

Geeze, not good :(

I tried to get into safe mode 4 times & I've done it b4 on other computers w/ no problem.

The first 2 times the F8 key didn't seem to be working, so the 3rd & 4th time I pressed harder.

The 3rd & 4th time I got to message that started counting down & gave me the option to get into safe mode by using the arrows, but none of the arrows would work, yet they work everywhere else :(

What's wrong?

Ok, I did everything until I got to the part of rebooting in safe mode.

It's been a while since I've done that & it was always done w/ someone instructioning me, so I need the instructions plus how to get back into normal mode once I'm done in safe mode.

You also said to run cleaner in safemode. Is the cleaner I have open now going to keep all the settings so when I see it on the grey desktop I just open it & press "run cleaner"?

Also I don't know what ewido security suite is or where to find it.
