So sorry, forgot about that. My apologies.

I turned off, but I'm not sure if it actually did anything since the file was saved.

Is this what you want?

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Thank you.

So after removing IOBit, now my computer is even worse than before :(

Now I can't get other programs to open when I click on them, I have to wait like 30-40 seconds b4 they are recognized.

I had problems w/ Malware (Anti Vir noticed this) & I made the mistake of deleting my Fx profile by accident b/c that's where the malware was & it wouldn't stop notifying me when I clicked delete or quarantine.

I reinstalled Fx & it wouldn't work, a lot of sites were being blocked & we couldn't figure out why b/c nothing in the settings was blocking it.

When I was finally able to accept the one site that supposedly wasn't trusted (it was hanging when I tried to accept it yesterday), that somehow allowed all the sites to start loading.

<sigh>

Now I'm having the problem with being able to click on an open program & get it to move right away.

How do you delete programs from startup?

I updated Java, but I really don't think any of these things are causing these problems.

As for the graphics card, that was an issue from the moment we reformatted & reinstalled everything about a year ago.

We couldn't figure out how to get rid of this message about the graphics card, so we just left it as I had to get back to work & it took me 3 days …

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Ok, here are the issues I'm having & yes I run a lot of anti programs including Advanced System Care which some say they love & a few people say caused problems.

Honestly I can't remember when the problems started, at least 4-6 months ago & it may have started after I bought the ASC, but I just exited out of it & still no change.

1. I click on "my computer", & it takes about 20-30 seconds to let me have access to the window. That's even after rebooting which I just did.

That also happens with Fx, but when I've rebooted, everything is very quick until I leave the computer & come back, then it takes several minutes to let me have access.

Also in the last several days I'm having problems with TB (thunderbird) & I didn't have hanging problems with TB b4.

2. This is the most frustrating thing.

At first I thought it was the site, but then it started happening on 3 different sites & after bitching & arguing, I have to admit it may very well be on my end.

Either:

a) www.cj.com

when I login into the membership area (main index page is fine), the CSS files don't load so I can't do anything within the site. Others don't have this problem. That's on both Fx & IE.

b) www.odesk.com

Hi all,

Happy holidays if you are in NA.

So I'm looking for the best live chat/help software there is.

Years ago I used one & it wasn't that great.

Features I want are:

1. Makes a loud noise when someone tries to connect b/c we don't want to have to sit on the site all day waiting, as it's not a busy site.

2. We can try & contact them even if they haven't initiated contact.

3. Allows me to see transcripts of conversations.

4. Allows surfer to read over previous conversation.

5. Won't screw up the site hogging the memory, won't cause problems with popups already on the site, etc.

6. The skin is nice looking or we can change it.

I think that's it for now.

Thanks

Michelle

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Yes, but I doubt they allow adult type sites.

Michelle

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Can't use AdWords anymore, Google discontinued the word "escort".

I'm not an escort agency, but I am an expert for the industry, so I sell business kits on how to open your own escort agency, how to become an escort, I offer a legal membership with monthly articles, etc.

Now I'm stuck unable to find professional reliable companies that offer PPC where I can advertise & actually make sales from.

Thanks

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

So I was looking for those companies that can get my ad out to those pages that have parked domains, & Fabulous gave me the 3 or 4 they know of.

My assistant researched them & I decided to go with Miva.com - BIG mistake.

All was fine until they told me it would take a day or two to authorize my credit card.

I found that very strange, but said fine.

Then instead of getting an e-mail from the person I spoke to on the phone, I got an e-mail from someone else & his communication skills weren't very good. He didn't know the interior of their application, so I had to repeat my question over & over again.

I also had no idea who he was since he didn't really introduce himself to me as my new account manager which is what you should do when one has already spoken to someone else.

He also didn't answer all of my questions.

Then after me finally understanding how to submit my credit card for the deposit, I get another e-mail days later from someone else entirely different saying she is contacting me to answer my question about bidding when I never even had a question about bidding b/c no one had walked me thru their system yet NOR had I even been notified that my account was now set to go.

I started to question why it takes soooo …

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Hi,

I already use 3 different spyware programs & everything has been removed.

I think the browser is working a little better today, I'll wait & see what transpires.

Thanks a ton :)

Michelle
P.S. RJCO - there is nothing to repair, so I'm not sure why you would suggest to do that when we have no proof the registry is corrupt.

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

My computer has been dragging & acting very strange, mouse moving on its own, etc.

I can't find anything that shouldn't be there & I just deleted an add-on to Fx that I thought was the problem, but I guess it isn't.

I have all the relevant protection software which updates & scans regularly.

Thanks a ton :) Michelle

P.S. Personal Assistant is an ok program, I've been using it for years.

Oh god, someone PLEASE help me!!!

Certain websites aren't working for me via Fx & IE, but they are working for others.

In fact I had just installed AVG, thought that was part of the problem & uninstalled it (I'm going back to Anti Vir), but it's still a problem.

Some sites aren't loading at all, others certain buttons click, others just act as dead links & yes I did reboot when I uninstalled AVG.

I hope you find something in here...

Thank you :)

This site Sameem posted http://iclix.hostsnake.com/ is actually his.

He made it seem like it wasn't his & he was just another surfer.

He says he doesn't care if I sign up, so I guess he doesn't care if anyone else signs up either.

I tried to sign up initially, & got some error messages that weren't even in English. That concerns me, especially b/c he's in Toronto.

Then when he gave me another URL which redirected to UTube for a tutorial he created, I'm assuming it's actually for marketing, but I didn't watch it.

So, I deduced that his programming skills (he said he was doing programming for them) weren't the greatest & that concerned me, & I told him.

He got offended by that, said he didn't care if I signed up & that I made the mistake.

He sent me the link again, & yes, this time his signup link was now working, but it seemed really weird. Who doesn't check their signup area when they have just launched a new application?

And I don't see how my computer could cause a redirection problem with a link.

Anyway, does anyone have any thoughts about whether it's worth it to join up with this guy?

Heard anything people?

I just don't like the fact that he made it seem like it wasn't his site, then it is his site, & then the problems with signing up, …

Sounds like that scam I got involved in many many moons ago back in what was it, '98, '99. I think it was called Ad Advantage or something similar & b/c I never got to the $25 min., I never got paid one penny for my time.

Hi there,

Ok, I think I had ATF on my machine at one point, but I'm not sure what happened to it.

That's done.

I'll never remember when I DL a new version of JS b/c it's not something I do very often, but I'll try to remember.

I've also had Fx crashing many times in the last month which I never had happen b4.

I don't boot up in safe mode & at one point I don't think I could even get into safe mode.

I don't remember if it was with this machine or the last one, I think it was with this one.

When I can't restart, I just hit the restart button, I don't have any other choice.

Which forum should I post in?

Thanks a ton

Michelle

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Ok, I never got a notice someone responded to this thread.

That happens with Dani Web I've noticed. They must be on the grey list at times.

Ok, I did that t/y.

What was wrong w/ my Java that was there?

The computer won't restart when I click on restart which is HUGE, as I've never had that happen b4 on any other computer including this one. It only started recently.

There are times when the computer's HD just keeps running for no reason.

Just now TB got all screwed up deleting the contact list in the new e-mail windows, & it wouldn't auto fill people who are in my address book.

There are other things, but I can't remember right now b/c it's been a week or two since I finally had to post this.

Thanks & TTYS

Hi there,

Thanks for responding, but this must be a really old thread. Yup, almost 3 yrs. old.

I've actually found a programmer FINALLY & we are just tying up some loose contract ends & he will be starting shortly.

We may need some very p/t help, if anyone is interested in applying.

Take care :)

Independent Contractor

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Yes, it is very sad.

It's ridiculous actually.

The net has been around publicly since around '94/'95.

That's 12 years now & people still don't take the net seriously, banks still treat online businesses like crap & there's still no safeguards in place for companies & professionals.

I've seen your site before, although I don't think I've ever used it.

I use Guru & I need professional respectful intelligent ICs to join my team which I find really hard to find.

How does Guru & Elance manage their Escrow area?

I also would never pay an IC or anyone via PP & many ICs refuse to accept any other form of payment which right there is VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.

I actually have more respect for an IC when they have their own merchant account or use 2CO or Worldpay.

Michelle

We have a website http://www.bidfreelancers.com in which any one can post projects and freelancers bid on projects. We escrow money from buyers so freelancers are safe when work is done and buyers are safe in case their is any dispute. We want a fair and we handle all escrow we just need a payments gateway. We used paypal just to take and pay $$. Pay[pal does not have its own escrow i dont know why t hey dont want to all us ??? They really suck.

Though we are in morden age we don't have freedom and way …

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

einfoway I just PMed you a Pay Pal alternative.

I would place it here, but don't want to be accused of spam.

Pay Pal sucks, everyone knows that. I've been waiting for a company to come around & shoot them out of the water.

Pay Pal stole from me years ago & also blocked my acct. & listened to the fraudulent customer. Back then they wouldn't even take my evidence saying it was a non tangible item, so it didn't matter.

This company is still small, but we need to support them so they become larger & offer the speed PP does. If everyone keeps refusing to sign up (it's illogical for someone not to unless they are just lazy), then of course they will always remain small & not go anywhere.

They have a high level acct. that won't allow chargebacks unless the transaction was made fraudulently by someone who used a fraudulent bank account.

As for Escrow, I've been looking for an escrow service for about 2 yrs. now.

escrow.com sucks.

They won't allow anything to do w/ something that is intangible.

I had one guy over there who said they could do it, but it didn't sound like they'd protect either party if there was a dispute & that's the only reason I need escrow in the first place.

This is a HUGE problem when it comes to entrepreneurs who hire ICs online to do …

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Thanks, but I wasn't asking about the specs, I was asking which is the better unit. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

The 2nd guy said he'd put another 100+ MB of RAM in there.

Michelle

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Ok, I need to get a laptop & now I've got each person telling me theirs is the better laptop & I'm getting confused.

Pls. let me know your thoughts, but only if you know specifically that one unit is better than the other.

Thanks :) Michelle

Oh right, I think I read about that somewhere.

Well no, this link will do the split testing on its own, I just need to know where to put it in my account.

I have several ads, kws, so I have no clue where to put it.

I guess I don't need that new Google feature if this URL will do it for me.

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Hi there,

Sorry for the delay, I didn't realize you had posted.

Ok, a few things...

1. I have no idea if Anti Vir has a firewall behind it, but I also have Zone Alarm & I finally got the new wireless router hooked up.

2. The computer is still acting up. It hangs, seizes up & it's clear something is hanging it, or grabbing all of the memory, b/c there are times I click on my task bar to have it pop up & the computer won't let it. I have to exit out of something in order to get it to work.

3. I also had problems with FF.

www.guru.com is a site I've been using for almost 2 years. Their programmers started changing things about a week ago & bamm, I was having problems.

The guy told me to delete my guru cache & that didn't help, then he asked me to delete my guru cookie & bamm, now I can't log in.

Others with FF can log in, I can't.

I even upgraded 2 versions of FF, rebooted several times & I still can't log in & I can log in via IE & Opera.

4. I also had problems with Yahoo's newest IMing version. I had to uninstall & reinstall today b/c it kept crashing.

There are times when I can't even work & it takes a long time for …

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

P.S. If there are no problems, what if someone is trying to hack into my computer?

Is there a program out there that can let me know if that is happening?

I have Zone Alarm & I was behind a router until recently. I just moved & someone set up a new one for me the other day, but then it stopped working & I have to work, so I had to plug right into the modem.

Thanks

Michelle

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Hi there,

LOL, ewido scared me b/c I kept seeing AVG on the DLs page & haven't used that program in years since I use a much better program now. I didn't realize they bought ewido out b/c if memory serves me, it was an anti virus program b4.

RSI Saver isn't a problem. It's a little program that helps you to prevent carpel tunnel syndrome etc. It tells you to move around & do little exercises :) I can tell you where to get it if you want it, it's only found on one holistic health site here in the Toronto area.

As for the scan from ewido, it said it found nothing & there is no report. Is that right?

Thanks :)
