Well, I reinstalled windows and now the screen just goes blank after a while. Once in a while I get blue screen error and it goes away. I am more of thinking about that a virus infected the memory. It is very random. Sometimes laptop works fine for hours before the screen goes blank so. I would change the memory and try because everytime I remove the RAM and put back in, the computer screen does not go blank for a while. It is just confusing and that is all. Anyways, thanks for the reply, I would try changing the memory.

you could plug in your friends hard disk into your computer as a usb device then run a virus scan, scan disk, and defrag etc.
something like system machanic 6 will also sort out any ram problems you have.

oh yea they changed my personal information right away, my location, secret question, and even my alternative email....

i did contact the hotmail support last night i guess i just have to wait and see what they do... if i dont get my email back all im hoping is for them to just close it so no one can access it

i would also contact all the people in your contact list to let them know, perhaps get them to block emails from the address until you regain control of it.

You can't unknowingly spread a virus becuase there are none. Now, even if you start writing a viruse you die.

You guys are missing the whole point. Linux and Unix are better servers systems than there'll ever be.

so you want all the windows based servers out there to run linux instead? who would do all that, wouldnt be cheap to change them all over who would fund it all? :twisted:

Yes, I think once you're getting more than 100 or so records, it's time to switch to a database system. It's faster to manage and update, and Acess gives you a nice way to build an interface to show it off :).

you can actually do some pretty neat things with access, although i can see using excel causing a few problems.

I'm the only IE6 user here, eh? I'm not a fan of tabbed browsing because I prefer just to keep windows side by side. I can do that with my crazy high res monitors.

looks like it :lol: the only problem i've found with tabbed browsing so far; is that if you get an error, like the macromedia flash errors i've been getting, it wants to close all the tabs, not just the one with the error, whereas with ie6 it would only close one i believe. but ie7 does have some neat options for rss feeds, these may well be somewhere in ie6 but i cant say i've seen them.

Exactly, what is the score with Women and computers? I joined this site because of Danni! She is an inspiration to all women out there!! And she has proved that women are just as good (if not better!!) at computers than us men are! So, why are they getting such bad press? Why arn't other women going into the computer industry? I do not mean just secretarial, but ALL aspects!? Because they are dumbed down by the ignorance the men!! Women programmers are much too few and far between. And the reason for nearly all computer games being so violent? Because they are programmed by men! We need more women (like Danni) to be interested in computing! Its not JUST a mans world anymore its for everybody!! Just a note, I wonder what the ratio of men to women on this site alone is? I unfortunately bet its 1 women to 10 men!! (I hope I am wrong!!) People who made viruses would automatically die. It would be a natural thing. So macs are perfect for home use, even though they're expensive, they are perfect. Linux is also perfect for servers.

the first thing you should of done was used the secret question to change the password back, although he has prob already changed it, there used to be a few ways of retreiving hotmail passwords (something we did almost daily to each other at school :lol: ) but hotmail have revamped their security so what worked 2 or 3 yrs ago wont now, i would try th secret question, then contact msn or hotmails online help, as you dont want them to catch you hacking in to an account even though its your own,

Hello, I'm currently thinking about purchasing a webcam... and I'm not sure which one I should try.

My guidelines:

• Small, preferrably small enough to where it can't be seen (I have siblings that like to take my hardware *grunt*)
• Not expensive, but "good enough" video/image quality (preferrably under $30)

have you installed the drivers for the mouse? as without these its unlikely to work, as it was a new install it also wont have the updates thay may contain drivers etc, so i would update windows, then either find the disk for the mouse or try the manufacterers website.

right, so you and your friend ran avast update, it froze during the update, then you restarted it, to a blackscreen?, then you took out the ram, and re-installed it, then re-installed windows, was it working ok at this stage? if avast was in the process of removing old updates etc as it froze it may has lost some core windows files, however re-installing windows would normally correct this, if you turn it on, is a blank screen straight away or does it boot up first?
