Well I'm sure ya all kno how to bypass the Google Images filter and such without using a proxy.

1) Google.de

2) Now, go to advanced settings, and set the main language back to english

3) search pictures away :)

Then again, our WebSense filter's pretty lax anyways...

what we did for google images was simple, search for lets say jennifer aniston, wait for the results, then click images, that got us passed ranger from sentinel software. :cheesy:

Hey guys. I've done a bunch of searching and I can't figure this one out. I'm helping my friend set up her router with her sbc service. She used to have a Linksys router and I was having a similar problem. I thought it was the router so I bought her this one, which is the one I use with my comcast cable. (I'm switching over to SBC DSL soon, so I hope I can figure this out.)
Here's the problem. I set the router (Netgear WGR614)and the modem up (Speedstream 4100). It looked to be working fine, however, sometimes the internet stops working. Usually I can still see the network, but there is no internet access. I plug my computer into the router and it still doesn't work. I unplug and restart the modem, the router, and my computer like a monkey pulling wires until it works again.
I hate when something only works sometimes. I'ts much harder to troubleshoot. It's like when you bring your car in because your breaks don't work on occasion, however every time you bring it in, they work fine. So, I guess what I need is for someone to tell me exactly how I should be configuring the router and the modem and her computer to make this work the best. The only thing I've left out is that her computer is a laptop and she brings it to work and connects on that wireless signal too. So, I guess that …

I've run ethernet wiring all around my house, hooked up some RJ45 plates in the wall, and connected the other ends to RJ45 plates near the router, which are then plugged into the router with short ethernet cables. The router is a DLink DI 524 which then plugs into a DLink ADSL modem.
Wireless works fine; plugging straight into the router with ethernet works fine; but none of the other connections work.

Where do I start? I've already tested each of the cables and they seem to be fine. The cable itself is new.

Please help! Thanks!

nick

first, check each cable and plate one by one, i.e plug router or pc in to one end, and laptop or another device in the other if you dont have a cable tester, repeat this throughout the house, if they are all fine, look at where they join, i.e hub, switch or another router, is that working correctly, and do the current setttings allow you to do what you want. lastly, i hate to sound patronising - but have all the plates been wired right, just as in, have you by acciden not lack of knowleadge put cables into different holes or double inserted a few?

I just bought a toshiba satelitte notebook a few weeks ago. I had it set up on my wireless network and everything was fine. Now the last few days, it just will not pick up a signal. I have a couple of computers on my network and they are all still working fine. So I'm pretty sure that I have narrowed it down to just being my computer as the problem.

It will still show full strength but it still says limited to no connectivity. The other computers are still connected and they are not experiencing this problem. I have recently tried the ipconfig/release..... but it has not solved the problem.

So my two questions are this,
1. How do I fix this problem, or what are some ways to try at least?
2. How do you think this happened in the first place?

The reason is that I just turned it on one day and it stopped working. So I would like to know what possibly could have caused this problem so that I can make sure to not let it happen again.

And all of my adware, spyware, virus protection is up to date.

So any help would be very much appreciated.

i had the same problem with my acer aspire, try ipconfig /release, then ipconfig /renew . this sorted it for me, hope this helps

In internet options check never dial a connection (on connections tab) then add a connection, connect to network via brodband, next, type name for connection (may be anything ie Brodband connection) now click finish This should work

if that doesnt work try the lan settings if your using a home network or ethernet modem / router, internet explorer - tools - internet options - connections - LAN settings - unless you know your lan settings, check the box saying `automatically detect lan settings`.

if that still doesnt work (no reason why it wouldnt) open up cmd, then try ip config /all, then ping a webpage i.e ping www.daniweb.com, take a note of how many packets are lost and received.

have you tried the card in a different pci slot, it could just be the slot thats damaged, has your motherboard got on-board sound by the way, as you could always look on the manufacturers website, such as gigabyte - as they often have the drives for the devices installed online.

if xp was actually installing when it restarted then it could have caused some problems, as you'll only have part of the os, in which case its often easier to format and start again, providing your not upgrading as this will cause you to lose any work saved on the machine.

somewhere in media player there will be an option for selecting audio output type, stero / mono / left / right, this may also be in control panel, if that fails try windows media player 11, from windows live.

do you know what these entries are the first one looks kind of odd to be in your WINDOWS folder
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ehTray] C:\WINDOWS\ehome\ehtray.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlwaysReady Power Message APP] ARPWRMSG.EXE

hi guys,

ehtray is a process usually online found on windows media pc's, it's supposed to give you easy access to the media manager,
ARPWRMSG.exe is also a aplication that was made by microsoft, and belongs to the ARpower message application by microsoft. this is a hidden program, the only way i know of finding it is via the registry - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

hope this helps,

Just wondering if acer makes quality laptops... I found a good looking one on newegg.com and it's very reasonably priced (<900), but I've never used an acer before. I know newegg has a very good reputation, but I was hoping someone could help me out with acer.

thanks,
Nate

i have just brought the acer 3610 aspire, 80gb hard disk, 512Mb ddr2 ram, Intel celeron 2.0ghz processor, and dual layer DVD writer. £600 from comet, performs well but doesn't make a good replacement for a desktop, only had it 4 weeks and already thinking of adding another MB of ram, only managed to get and hour out of the battery so far, crashes occasionally, otherwise great budget laptop :cheesy:

Thanks for the response.

I'm sure the Linksys is firewalled so i will check it out to make sure its allowing access to the switch. I thought maybe i had to configure it to be in AP mode and not router mode, but wasn't sure how to do that. Or something with the configuring of the IP setup since it is acting like a stand alone router and network, and not as an acces point that it should be.

I'm helping out a friend in doing this because they know absolutely nothing about computers. And they didn't want to pay someone a bundle just to get this set up right. so i dont know when i wil be able to fix it for them, but will try out all that you advised when i have time to help. It seems like i should have been fine with how it's set up, but you're right the firewall may be the issue.

thanks again, anyone else with information is greatly appreciated.

no worries mate, as for changing it to access point, 192.168.1.10 should be the web config for the linksys router , although the differs from model to model, the way you have it set up should be fine, just need to get it all talking to each other then your all sorted!

Hello all, I have a small office that im dealing with that has this configuration: A cable router that plugs into a dialer, that then plugs into a 6 plug switch. 4 of the plugs go directly to four different computers via ethernet and one goes to a linksys wirelss router/AP that has two wireless computers that link to that.

The problem that I'm having is trying to network all of the computers to share files and one printer. The two wireless computer have no problem linking up to eachother to share files, but i can't get any of the wired computers to link up to my wireless computers in "my network places." could someone please help me out with a step by step instruction on how to get everyting configured properly thanks.

Greg

hi mate, firstly, is the wireless router fire walled? this may restrict access to the 6 port switch from the wireless computers?, does the linksys wlan router have spare ethernet ports? - often they have a couple you could try and plug the current 4 computers via cat5 into the wlan router, if that doesnt work, try the 6 port switch into the router, so rather than the wlan router being the last in the chain the switch is. and lastly you could try making the current 4 wireless by means of a usb adaptor of pc card. hope this helps
