Now i just updated my pc to sp2 again. And i have seen in other peoples logs that when they install sp2 it brings out viruses hiding on their system. so better safe then sorry.

what grade you going into i am in 10th

today was the first day of school for me and it sucked. high school really sucks, but im almost done. was it anyone elses first day.

I found a beta of longhorn on another forum(for legal purposes i am not allowed to say the name of the site [forum rules]). Once it is down downloading i will install it on a virtual pc. But right now i think that 2006 is a little fast for a new windows to be released. Xp should just be updated with the new features but you know Micro$oft all they want is for people to by more expensive porducts like office for $500 that is ridiculous (thats where bittorrent steps in hint hint.)

Yeah bentkey is probably right with the memory thing. open up your machine and take out the memory and put it back in. If it still doesn't work then one of your memory sticks is bad and needs to be replaced. if you have a warranty you can call up and get some new ones for free. Only do this if you cant boot into safe mode.

If all else fails and you have no other options then the power supply might not have enough power in it to give to your machine. If this is what is happening your computer will slowly die (it happened to me and after at first the computer would just shut off after an hour or so, then thirty minutes, then it would just boot and shut off). Your computer manufacture will probably give you a new computer dell gave one to me (it was even better then my first everything was upgraded).

So consider those things but like i said if you can boot into safe mode then you dont need to try any of those things

did you try booting into last known good configuration. Sometimes that doesn't help your computer it just makes things worse so i would set a restore point with some program (i dont know if system restore is provided for windows 98)

did you try booting into safe mode and renaming msmsgs.exe to msmsgsoff.exe it is in the directory c:/program files/messenger.

Yeah it doesnt look like it would hurt your system but it isn't necessary to have it. So yeah follow catweazles advice and your computer should run smoothly all the time.

well if you cant even get to the login screen then what you need to do is run the xpcd and do a system restore with that. That will reinstall any missing windows components without making you have to reinstall all your files again.

That seems a little more complicated compared to alias wavefront's maya unlimited. It may cost money but (bittorrent hint hint) it was used on things like the lord of the rings, and some video games.

Thanks K_t, hey im just curious do you have a modeling program that you think is the best to use. Right now i am using maya 6 unlimited. Its ok it took me not much time to figure out how to do fairly simple modeling and animation. I tried 3ds max but i didnt like the setup.

Switch to mozilla (if you want) or just get something like outlook, or mozilla thunderbird so you can manage all your email acoounts without logging in three times.

Run Spybot and Adaware first. In addition to what Killer suggested, all the red.clientapps should be deleted. Scan again and post a new log for one of the guru's to review. Your friend might also want to install SpyWare Blaster to help prevent further infections.

I did some of those things i still have to do a spybot scan but i dont know if you just posted this at the exact same time as my post but if not please read the posts before offering a suggestion it sort of hard to get answers when you have to repeat yourself.

I wont be surprised i know how much this kid has messed up his computer i got rid of some spyware (ran ad-aware 700 detected), then i fixed some registry files (registry mechanich close to 400), got spyware blaster, switched his browser from IE to mozilla firefox, cleaned out some old registry files and got rid of some programs that he had that dont work. So i pretty much gave his system half of an overhaul in 20 minutes to an hour. See someone had gone on his computer while he was away all summer and these people who were watching his house left it on for who knows how long. And i know because a automatic update finished where if he was there he would of cancelled it 9i got like 80 for all except sp2, i didnt need more hassle right now).

Also he is the only user on his computer but somehow it says that the admin has turned off access to taskmanager.

And how do you increase the signal strength on a wireless router.

I know this a lot of questions and i thank you for anyhelp its just this kid really needs to learn how to take care of his pc wich cant take much more.

Sometimes even if the computer has different names it will still pose a problem but that will go away. My computer and router are all plugged into one of those multiple plugs boards with the switches sometimes when you turn off that switch and then turn it back on it will restart the router and you will get a duplicate ip message but that will go away usually after you reboot. I dont know if this happened to anybody else but it probably isnt a concern.

I will tell you one thing it wasnt good. it probably was the power supply. So i would get a new one or if you are not entirely sure what it is then open up your computer and see what part is exceedingly hot.

I've actually seen some linux distros that have livecds say that you can run it off a usb flash drive.

About it being dark i hated having to scroll to my flashlight but then i downloaded a mod so now i have flashlight built into all my guns. I like it it does get a little boring after playing it a while. I think half-life2 will be better story wise, but judgng from the counter strike source graphics and half-life2 screeshots doom3 has better graphics(the shading and lighting in that game are so great).
