i got xp pro from some one else who got rid of it and wanted to know if there was any big or any difference at all from windows xp home.

adaware or spyware search then say goto hijacked this log and sya fix

try in this order
1. reinstall
2. update
3. internet options back to windows default
4.adaware/spyware scan
and if all else fails
5.get mozilla, or opera
6. (only if needed system restore)

try reinstalling your IE, update it, and then scan with ad aware and spybot search and destroy to get rid of anything that might be affecting your internet explorer if all else fails there is always another browser to use like mozilla, opera, or deepnet(which can download from the gnutella p2p network).

when you say explorer do you mean IE because in that case you could update it to 6 or switch to mozilla firefox it is what i use.
if you are talking about the program explorer.exe that runs in the background and runs all the visual effects on your desktop then try system restore.

if i dont have a domain name but have an ftp server like cuteftp how can people download from my server is there an ip adress for it. Do i need to get at least a subdomain.
My main reason for wanting to know this is that i want to share some files over the internet and would need about 10-15 gigs of space so i need a way of sharing them without using torrents or things like magnet links because they dont work very well.

if u want to delete registry files goto run type regedt32 and then look through all the folders marked software and delete any registry entries that belong to uninstalled software but if you want help on deleting reg files you might want to post this under a more specific or different title.

geese if its that much of an inconveince to type www. why not just get mozilla firefox all you have to type is yahoo then it runs a search through google and comes up with the best match it works for pretty much every site even if the dont end in .com

you might need some codecs download the divx codec then the klite mega codec pack and see if that works or just download the new wmplayer 10 from microsoft.com. But i would think it is a codec problem if your video files are avi then you probably need divx or xvid

when you delete all your temporary files through internet options make sure to check delete offline content also if that is wat u want to do. if that does not work then go to a program that uses the standard window s temp directory then go to search enter the directory just as it was and search all files and folders and a big list of files like picture and stuff from websites should be there

goto run msconfig and see if you have the dialer program there like if you have verizon it would be verizon online.exe and then uncheck the box and press apply, close.

try downloading xmms or a better media player.
in your second question do you want to dual boot windows and linux in that case download osl2000 bootmanager or acronis os selector.

try setting your internet explorer settings back to windows default then try using zilla connection accelerator it worked for me. y doesnt mozilla work for you it is a lot better than IE?

I think you should go with the amd 64 they are much more powerful. It is a better buy too. Asus motherboards are some of the best motherboards so with that and and the amd 64 you should have a good computer

wat about the port forwarding and port triggering would that have any effect on my router setup

i can ping the router
i can not ping other computers on the network

try going to 192.168.1.1 where you can edit your linksys router settings it is the same place you would go for port forwarding and that sort of stuff. there you should be able to fix any problems with tcp/ip stack. if not go to network connections and try and reinstall the tcp/ip protocol if that does not work than i have no idea

yes sometimes but it only safe deletes it does not delete any files that are necessary to your computer also just using adaware is not good enough adaware only finds programs that are linked to ad software not programs that are linked to useless spyware programs. adaware is better and finds more faults in your system, but spybot alwats finds somethings that adaware does not search for

ad aware works fine if you scan like every two weeks you might want to use spybot or spyhunter also. the plugins for ad aware are helpful. make sure to check for updates often also so that it updates what files are bad for your computer

try mozilla it works better and has better browser options, try and go to internet options delete cookies and temp files, then click settings for cookies and adjust the amount of space that your browser stores cookies, if all that does not work then try zilla soft connection accelerator(i had a similiar problem before and that fixed it)

i just recently forwarded and triggered my ports for emule, bit torrent, IRC, and ftp would this have any effect on me setting up the dsl network

i have a linksys BEFSR41 etherfast dsl router and i am having trouble setuping up the network. I had intsalled on my computer but then explorer.exe messed up and i had to restore the system.
I can get to the last step where the computer and the modem are both connected to the router through the ethernet ports but then it says that it is not connecting and that i should turn off and then turn on my modem again but that does not work. could someone here tell me what i need to do.

i have fedora and i cannot boot it from a cd on my computer it always says that there is no system response. Right now i am running it on a virtual pc but only have a few days left on the trial. Also the virtual pc is not as good as the real thing.
I was wondering if there is away of installing linux without rebooting or could i take the info on my virtual pc and put it onto a partition and change the boot.ini
