I attempted to do a restore on my Gateway laptop from the restore DVD. The disk would keep stopping and a screen telling me to choice either F2 or F10 would come up. Nothing would happen after hitting either of these keys. Know when I try to start the disc again, the cd rom spins, the fans go on and nothing happens at all. I am not even able to shut it off unless I disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery. Can anybody tell me what is going on??

Jump to Posthi nhc, if not the disc problem it could be a faulty dvd drive, try to plug in your restore disc on another pc, check it can be read.. try what mechbas said clean your disc then try again...

Dirty or contaminated disc? Seems like drive read errors to me.
