Hi, my name is Hope and not a newbie but right now I feel so dumb!!

I was cleaning up my second computer with XP on it and went to empty the recycle bin. It told me some of the files I was about to delete were being used by Windows.

I tried to cancel the action and it told me to insert the Disk 2 of XP. Well, my XP only came with one disk. I tried to do a system restore and then once that was complete, it would not let me get in the recycle bin to restore the files that were lost.

I even did a scan disk for errors to see if I could find the problem. My computer is now soooo slow and takes forever to get on IE. This machine is usually such a powerfully fast machine and I have 2 gb of Ram so I cannot figure out how to restore this to its fast speed again.

Any ideas?

Hope

You could try using the system file checker. PUt your XP disk in the drive, open a command prompt and type "sfc /scannow"
