Hi, I have a secondary 160GB Seagate Harddisk and a primary harddisk on which I have windows xp with sp3 installed . Suddenly today while using the pc, my secondary harddrive was facing some problems and so i ran chkdsk /r on it and got it fine.. But when i restarted the pc the seagate 160gb harddisk was no longer showing up in my computer. When i went to the Disk Management tools it showed that the drive is not initialized and that it needs to be initialized and formatted.

I tried connecting my harddisk to another pc with the same version of windows and on it the harddisk appeared perfectly fine. I would like to know what could be the reason for such a problem? and how can i fix it, without having to format the drive, i.e. reintialize it?

Try switching it to the other IDE channel or a new ribbon cable.
