For what ever reason in Windows XP Professional some of my icons seem to go from black text to blue text for no reason, mainly in directories. When there is a new icon the text is black but ones that have been there for a while are blue.
This doesn't really worry me but I would like to know why this happens.

Jump to PostI bet you use 'Disk Cleanup', and when you do you select the option "Compress old files to save space"?
The blue text simply indicates a compressed file. Don't confuse that with 'Zipped' files though. the compression referred to here is NTFS compression, which is different.

I had a look and I don't think that I check that box but I do have some compressed old files that can be chosen.
Any other theories/explanations that may cause this?
