I had to replace motherboard on a Acer and am unable to repair with the traditional prompts. Do not have Vista CD. Is their a copy created at install time and can I run from command entry?

Do a HDD surface test. Place the hhd to another pc and do there the surface test. Or you can download a liveCD and do it from it.

There is also a Vista Recovery DVD made by MS (free) to repair such problems. You should try to use it.

Anyway try to describe (photo) of where it is stuck or doing loophole.
