Does anyone have the procedure for creating Desktop Icons for “Computer Shutdown and “Computer Restart.
for shutdown ,right click on the desktop ,new /shourtcut icon , and put this info in the first field when asked ,sorry i don't know the restart one
%windir%\system32\shutdown.exe -s -t 00
It's the same thing except change the s to an r.
shutdown -r -t 00
Beware! XP will load updates to be installed during shutdown. They are noted during the "standard" shutdown sequence by a flag that appears on the shutdown icon. Creating a desktop icon will shut down without installing the updates so it's advisable to at least infrequently use the standard method. Does anyone know if shutdown.exe has an option to do the install?
