hi my laptop keeps crashing it doesnt happen with any particular program but when it crashes and i restart it comes up with os not found. running windows xp home sp2. please help. thanks james

What kind of laptop do you have? One of the reasons for this could be overheating. I had a similar thing happen to my TOSHIBA A75-S209. It would overheat, crash or have a thermal shutdown, and then when I would boot it, it would say that it could not find the harddrive.
Next time it crashes, try not to turn it on for a long time (an hour or two). Then boot it, does it still say OS NOT FOUND?

Could be the HD heating up. Check the temperatures as MIGSoft suggested.
