So occationally my computer will suddenly stop recieving packets, but will still say its connected. To be able to connect to anything (including the router) I have to disconnect from my router and then reconnect after a couple of minutes.

If it helps diagnose the problem I'm very rarely able to share between this computer and my laptop. Sometimes it works, other times I'm unable to connect.

I have a D-link Rangebooster G Router as well as the same for NIC.

If this isn't a hardware problem, it might be interference. Microwaves, portable phones and others can cause this.
I'd start by changing the wireless channel, which you can access through the router's setup page.
