Re: Per jbennet's suggestion, I will look into making the solved threads sortable (when viewing solved threads within a particular forum). It is not possible to sort the memberlist by solved threads, which is what I believe Salem is interested in.
Re: PFO consists of more hardcore programmers, and is strictly forums. The interface is also slimmed down. DaniWeb is more full-featured, in that we have blogs, a code snippet library, various Javascript-enhanced features, etc.
Re:
Dani had a meeting once in New York City, but I didn't go because it was too far to ride my tricycle.
It fell through. Same problem as Davey encountered.
Re: What is orkut?? You should be able to ... read up on the sites about whether they offer POP3 or IMAP access.
Re: Seems to me like a driver problem. All I can suggest doing is uninstalling your current Nvidia drivers and reinstalling the latest ones off of the web.
Re: I don't think that you should allow people to post free articles that don't include links or post articles with links for a fee. What's going to end up happening is your paid-for articles are just going to be spam and press releases. Quality authors contribute content for free because …
Re: It depends on your niche, but just under $1 eCPM is about right for a site of your size. Depending upon the demographics of your target audience, this can climb up to $10 eCPM. Ensure the ads are in prominent places and raise the clickthru rate to raise the eCPM.
Re: I don't know how to read HijackThis logs, but you might want to do a search: http://www.daniweb.com/search/search.php?q=missing+tab+internet+explorer There are LOTS of other people here who have all experienced the exact same problem. Cheers.
Re: Do a google search for color theory to get some information about the subject. What I like to do is choose no more than 3 colors that work well together and keep reusing them throughout the entire site with NO other colors. It's hard to give you an idea of …
I was just checking out the News crawl section of Google Webmaster Tools (for those of us who have our sites in Google News) and I noticed a new column in the table of News-specific errors: News Hub. Does anyone know what this column refers to? TIA
Re: PayPal because I've never heard of Moneybookers
Just want to open this thread up to opinions. Please vote in the poll.

Re: I'm not sure if SMF supports this, but if you want them to stop keeping them from coming back, make it harder for them to re-register. Make sure that no one can post unless they supply a unique, valid email address. Make them click on a link in their email …
Is it okay to blatantly sell text links in a sidebar or footer as long as they're nofollowed?
Re: Please lets keep this forum non-spammy and not plug our sites. That is what the Webmaster Marketplace is for :)
Re: Wow, broad question. I'm not so sure I know how to answer it. Being a webmaster can include everything from developing, to designing, to promoting, to managing a website. Depending on the specific model, it can encompass elements of a community, of a business, of retail/commerce ... there's just so …
Re: I recommend purchasing a sponsorship on a newsletter that gets sent out to your targeted audience. Definitely do not get into the spammy business of buying email addresses - and untargeted ones, at that.
Re: Never heard of them but it seems like they're just spamming other forums and blogs. You might end up getting into more trouble than they're worth because they'll give your company a bad reputation in the industry ... and being labeled a spammer isn't an easy thing to shake off …
Re: Hi, Sorry, you're not allowed to post email addresses either. Our community is not meant to be a place for you to simply advertise your website. The best way to get a new site off the ground is to create helpful posts here with a link to your site in …

Re: There's nothing out there that actually works. The only way to increase your rankings is by hard work and going out there and manually asking bloggers and other sites to link to you because you have a great website with great content that people want to link to.
Re: AD, stop being so cynical.
Re: I see that you have googled6167413034a6d16.html written WITHIN your web page. You need to create a new file with that name and upload it to your web server separately.
Re: Viral marketing ... word of mouth. Create something catchy and unique that people will naturally want to tell their friends about, link to, etc.
Re: It completely depends what you're trying to accomplish. Banner ads work best for branding once a site is successful and established. They are pretty good at getting some word of mouth going as well. Text links work best to boost SEO. Having inbound text links will convince the search engines …
Re: Hi Ken! Welcome to DaniWeb :) I look forward to reading lots of your stories!!
Re: I've never even heard of this tag, but I can certainly see google paying attention to it. Another trick I use is to wrap quoted text in <blockquote cite=> html, specifying the source. I'm hoping it helps me avoid a duplicate content penalty for longer paragraphs.
Re: You can?? I was under the impression that placement targeted campaigns are always CPM based.

Re: > Use spaces instead of tabs, and this problem will pretty much go away. In the example provided, Aia used tabs in the first snippet and spaces in the second snippet. It's unfair to say that I refuse to admit there's a problem. I know that the tabs are overexaggerated …

Re: What degree will you be getting? Do you have any experience with networking currently? What about the field interests you?
Re: I don't have any warnings or infractions. :-D In the past (especially back in the days when this site was a baby and more teenage-geared, as I was 19) I should have deserved one or two. But, after carefully weighing the pros and cons, I decided against infracting myself.
Re: A funny way to do it ... Set the overflow:hidden CSS style on the IFRAME.
