Re: Plasma screens aren't really the best as computer monitors. Firstly, because of the burn-in issue. Secondly, because you can get a higher resolution if you go LCD. Plasmas are better for TVs, but LCDs are better for PCs, IMHO.
Re: Unfortunately, this is just a new "feature" of the latest version of vBulletin, the forum system DaniWeb is based off of. After having problem after problem with the wysiwyg editor, I have to admit I won't go near hacking it with a ten foot pole. I will see if anyone …
Re: Unfortunately, join the club. I think that a neverending question is "what can I do to get a new web surfer's attention just long enough for them to look at what I have to offer." There are multiple ways of doing this, but I think the most important is to …
Re: Thank you so much for your feedback! It's appreciated and I'm glad you're enjoying our community. I'm confused with what you mean by point #1. Let the subforums be there? Where do you mean, exactly?

Re: Hi!! :) Welcome to DaniWeb ... I hope you enjoy this place and hope to see you around a lot.
Re: I highly doubt that this is a problem related to MySQL, specifically, so I am going to move your thread to the network configuration forum where I think you'll get better responses.
When is it appropriate to use KEEP ALIVE (persistent connections)? How come my Apache comes with this setting off?
Re: Who is your target audience? In other words, does your site attract a professional audience, teenagers, etc? It seems strange to me that you can offer authorative research and online games on the same website, while still maintaining a well-grounded site with a single theme.
Re: For some good tips, check out the official AdSense blog on Google's site :) Or, if you have any specific questions, post them here and we'll help you out. We just have a non-site specific policy around here because otherwise your thread would just be an invitation for everyone with …
Re: In the vB admin panel, click vBulletin Options in the left frame. Under the category entitled User Registration Options, click to Require Unique Email Addresses and also click to Verify Email address in Registration. If it's a problem that bots are auto-registering on your forum, youmay wish to also enable …
Re: There is no best number. For me, I get about a 5% conversion rate for search engine traffic and about a 3% conversion rate overall. But there is a difference between members and actie members. I would rather have 1 really active, dedicated member than 100 members who registered and …
Re: I'm confused what techniques you're employing. Do you mean you are using meta keywords and meta descriptions? I suggest you read up in this SEO forum to learn all about some of the other techniques that are used to gain search engine rankings.
Re: Hi, Thank you for bringing these to my attention. I was not aware of either problem. However, until IE7 is officially released, it is nearly impossible for me to debug. I don't have IE7 on my system, and trying to fix CSS issues that pertain to one browser and not …

Re: There's no way you can make a fool of yourself at a UPE ceremony because the ceremony, itself, is so screwy. Upsilon gives a speech to Pi ... Pi acknowledges Upsilon ... Epsilon lights candles ... and so on and so forth (yes, I know I'm wrong about who does …
It's been said time and time again that one of the best ways to promote your website is to post in other forums and link to your site in your signature. Many other people, myself included, frequently visit various webmaster forums out there (such as this one) and ask for …
Re: I like it :) My friend just showed it to me last night. I especially like the endlessly long pages hehe. Guess that'll eliminate SEOs screaming "I'm on page one of the SERPS!" :)

Re: You would simply use the WHERE and LIMIT clauses in your MySQL select statement. For example, [inlinecode]SELECT * from mytable;[/inlinecode] selects all rows from a table named mytable. [inlinecode]SELECT col1, col2 from mytable;[/inlinecode] selects only the columns entitled col1 and col2 from mytable. [inlinecode]SELECT col1, col2 from mytable WHERE col1 …

Re: The hardcore Microsoft folks around here are going to think I'm crazy, but Apache (the great Linux web server) has been ported to Windows and is open source. I'm not sure if it supports ASP out of the box. If you're looking for a remote solution, check our Web Hosting … |
