This problem is related to web browsers ... so I'm moving it to web browsers section so that appropriate "gurus" can have an eye on that.
It wont do anything ?? from where are you downloading the player ? You should be downloading it from macromedia site as suggested by belama ... and if you are having trouble downloading it from there then ask us again.
First of all I have deleted your email address bcuz the policy of the site admin doesnot allow to post email addresses in any posts.
Now with your problem .... are you booting from cd ?? if you're not .. then boot from cd and format the drive before setting up windows ... you can do so by first deleting the partition and then recreating it ... and then formatting it .... the setup process will guide you through all the process.
See if your processor usage is fine ... if its upto 100 % .. see which process is taking the processor ... if its explorer.exe ... end process and then start a new task "explorer"...
You cant do anything without partitioning the drive ... so partition it and see if your recovery software works fine for you.
Can you provide us with some more on your problem.
Delete microsoft office from your startup and then try again.
Uninstall any toolbars if any ... and run spyware and antivirus.
Click tools in internet explorer --> properties ---> Content --> Autocomplete --> clear forms .. and you're on your way.
Is the pop up blocker turned on ?? if yes .. turn it off and try again.
Post your hijackthis log in viruses, spyware and nasties forum ... I doubt you've not done hijackthis cleaning properly.
Have you done a spyware scan recently ?? Do so or post your hijackthis log in our virusus, spyware and nasties forum.
You mean three different physical hard drives or you're talking about three partitions in your hard drive ??
I'm afraid you cant do it without a windows cd .... the only other possibility is that if you have a windows xp installation files ( i386 folder ) on your hard drive.
You'll have to get a copy of your windows.
What does a right click on that system do ?? same thing ?? or its doing the job of left click ...
Has any of the cds got a folder called i386 ?? If yes browse through that folder and then press ok. i386 should have all the files you want to install.
Just Right click the folder you want to protect from other users ... go to properties and then security tab --> here you'll have a list of users and their capabilities (whether they can read , write or they have full read/write permissions) ..
hello Sana n welcome to daniweb .. Looking forward to help and be helped ... :)
Are you using any proxy servers ?? try connecting without that ...
ask your ISP about the problem ...
Most probably you'll need an mpeg4 codec to run mp3 video files ... you can get it from here :
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/divx_3_codec.cfm
Cool dude :)
You solved it yourself .. and we learned from you ...
marking the thread as solved.
If you have an ntfs partition then you can easily change its permissions to your favour.
You mean that an application runs by itself automatically and then stops in a second ??
We arent bothering you about anything either :D .. just suggesting some recommendations .. anywayz your windows will run on 256 mb of ram.
>How can you stop windows to crash ..
If ever there's a crash .. do remember to note the error code (its like this 0X000000xx .. where xx is any digit or letter) and tell us the error code .. we'll tell you its cure.
What parts are still there in your computer ?? some expired registry values or some empty folders ?? They wont be affecting anything much.
If something else is residing ... please name it.
This is a description of the process from microsoft :

Try end tasking explorer.exe and then running it again.
This microsoft support article should solve your problem :

This is the thing I've been thinking about ... but I dont get any permissions tab in the folder properties. And whenever I uncheck read-only .. press ok and then open the dialog again .. its checked again.
I tried copying to temporary internet files folder of another OS when it wasnt active ... but got an empty folder when booted to that OS. So no success yet.
okay ... but there's almost a chance that I dont ... cuz I'll have to setup all those updated security measures for the other windows too ... I hope I'll go for win 2000. Or I'll just use my roomate's laptop for net usage if I need to ask anything from you.
I use both the windows 2000 and 2003 for study purposes .. and before implementing anything I set a restore point on that drive .. and when I'm finished I simply restore windows .. So the windows are always brand new.
Nope .. I mainly use windows xp for internet access .. the other two are for practice purposes .. no antivirus or firewall or any other facility installed on both others.
Are you installing it from a cd ?? verify that the cd is not corrupt.
Copy the antivirus installation folder from cd to your hard drive and then try installing it from the hard drive.
okay thanks .. I'll report when I reinstall.
I'm not worried ... if I lose all my windows then I'll have to install each and everything again .. thats frustrating for me.
All my drives are ntfs.
C drive is 10 gb and 6.8 gb is free .. it has windows xp in it.
d drive is 7 gb and 3.5 gb is free .. it has software in it.
e drive is 7 gb and 3 gb is free .. it has games in it.
f drive is 7 gb and 5.5 gb is free .. its my roomate's drive.
g drive is 7 gb and 4.5 gb is free .. it has my study stuff.
h drive is 7 gb and 5.3 gb is free .. it has windows 2003 server in it.
i drive is 7 gb and 5.5 gb is free .. it has windows 2000 in it.
j drive is 7 gb and 5.5 gb is free .. it has all the i386 folders of all the windows installed.
Thats all. Is that enough or I'll have to give some other specific info?
So should I first delete the swap file ( is that the paging file ? I do have paging file on all my partitions) first and then continue with deleting windows ?
If you're planning to have windows xp with service pack 2 ... then I would recommend atleast 512 mb of ram ... otherwise you can also run windows on 256mb ram fine (I have 256 mb of ram with windows xp sp1) ... but as casperjack said that you'll need another 128 mb for smooth performance.
You'll probably have microsoft java virtual machine on your windows preinstalled ... and if you want to run java applets .. you would probably need to install sun's java virtual machine ... and you can download it from the link casperjack gave.
Yes I do have windows on different partitions ...
Will the delete process recover all the space on the C drive ... I've seen in my previous experiences (it was windows 98 long ago) that some space is still taken on the drive ... what is the reason for that ?
Or if you want to persist with this windows installation .. you'll have to disable all the services and processes (startup items) relating to McAfee ..
I have three windows ... 2000, xp and 2003 server. My primary drive ( c:\) has a windows xp installation ... now my windows xp is getting corrupt and I want to wipe it out and install a fresh one.
The problem is that if I format my C drive, I wont be able to run my other windows again (or if I can how ? ). How can I overcome the problem.
Your question seems to be about windows software ... not about windows itself ... so I'm moving it to windows software section so that you can get an appropriate response.
Did you delete mcafee or uninstalled it ?? Do uninstall mcafee ... I dont think mcafee and norton work together.
blank taskbar button ?? can you explain your question further ??
Kindly post your hijackthis log in the viruses, spyware and nasties forum.
I saved some web pages which only play properly when their files are in temp internet files folder ... so whenever I empty the folder I have to get online again to play the web pages. So thats why I copied the files in another folder but they cant be re written again to the temp folder. How can I overcome that ?
How can I write in Temporary Internet Files Folder ... it seems to be read only and I cant make it writable.
There's a forum 'windows software' where you can get an appropriate reply ... this is a windows problems related forum. So for your convenience I'm moving it there.
How do you connect to the internet ? through lan or dial up or something else ?
