I would also recommend you first clean your hard drive from viruses and then reinstall windows... if you dont want to take headache to scan your hard drive for viruses and malware ... just backup your data to another source other than the hard drive and repartition.

You should also check for the capacitors on your motherboard ... see if they are alright ... most probably your system fan is not working or some capacitors have burst ..

Permissions can only be changed if you're using NTFS file system. Fat32 hasnt got any securities.

And check your cable connectors ... make sure the connectors are properly connected.

I assume you're working in a workgroup environment .. Can you ping other computers when the problem occurs ?? by their names or by their ip addresses ??

It seems like the network DDE service is not running which is required by winchat. Enable it and then try again. To enable it .. right click My Computer -- Manage -- Services and Applications -- Services -- Find network DDE and turn it to automatic. By default it is set to manual.

When Boot CD comes on the screen ... press enter multiple times until it boots from CD. Its the way my pc boots from CD Rom.

If you are not on a domain, I think you will need to be a local administrator. It might ask you to login and prompt; I am not about to break my domain to test if for you.

I've used AVG antivirus for quite a while now .... it was good until it let come a virus that ruined all the apps of my hard drive. Then I tried ZoneAlarm security suite ... it was also good not taking much resources... but I had some minor problems with the program. Now I'm testing Panda's Titanium and PCTools AV.

I would recommend you to try ZoneAlarm security suite if you want all in one solution.

You should first install drivers for your graphics card and then see if it happens again...

Clean installing again would most probably solve your problem.

c$ is for administrative shares only... share the drive with some other name ..

Yes .. you should install the display drivers provided by the vendor ... or if you dont have a disk .. download from the vendor site.

See in the task manager which process is taking so much cpu usage ...

Do you have a canon camera? ... it makes this file ... dont have much info about the file but it means zoom browser thumbnail ...

See if there is something in your startup ... make sure there's nothing starting with your windows startup ... from msconfig ... and then tell us the results.

Yeah I misunderstood your question. I thought you were talking about tirefox rather than IE. Sorry.

These kinda problems usually are fixed after a fresh install of windows ... but your problem persists .. so I suspect some pest or virus doing the job for you ... so scan all you hard drive for viruses ....

Go to Tools -- Internet Options -- Security -- Click Custom level in internet --
Scroll down to "Downloads" - "File Downloads"
Check the "Disable" circle
All done!

The page opens okay on my side too. Clear your internet cache from temporary internet files folder ... clear the autocomplete entries and then try again if you can access the site.

You can just reinstall firefox without uninstalling it. It'll fix the problems while your data will remain safe.

Can you tell us more about your problem? What did you install before the problem ... did you alter some hardware? Did you see that the sound card driver is properly installed and working properly ... or if the windows sound service is not disabled? Tell us more so that we may be able to help out the problem.

General Windows startup entries are stored in the registry key:
HKLM/softwares/microsoft/windows/Run

You should enable all the items from msconfig and then remove the unwanted from the registry... or if you feel uncomfortable with registry editing .. you can use advanced tweek se or any other tweeking software that can edit startup entries.

I dont think that quantity of posts is of major concern ... its the quality that matters ... so when I find something worth I can help ... I do a post ... otherwise I keep quiet.

It could be some type of virus or spyware infection I'm afraid... you should post a hijackthis log in our viruses, spyware and nasties forum.
