Re: Launch Disk Utility, then select 'Burn...' from the 'Image' menu. Navigate to your dmg and off you go. When Apples support site says it will have the same format as the original file, they mean the same CD format - ie. ISO, HFS+ or whatever NOT dmg. Hope this helped …
Re: Are you sure that's not AI instead of AL? If it is, it's an Adobe Illustrator file. If it really IS AL, it's an ALAW format sound file - just don't ask me what that is supposed to be ;)
Re: Don't worry, you haven't lost anything :) It sounds like your Finder hasn't re-launched itself for some reason, try quitting all other programs and see if that helps. If not, hard-reboot the Mac by holding down the start button for a few seconds. If all else fails, pull out the …
Re: As you said in your original post, it IS legal to make a personal back up. You can use a dvd ripper like MacTheRipper (great name isn't it?) which you can find on versiontracker, and then burn it using Toast. MacThe Ripper can also bypass protection schemes and region limitations. …
Re: Try holding the option key down during startup, which gives you a chance to select any available system disk to start up from.
Re: You could also install OSX without having to format the drive - but if you're going to start afresh, you may as well do it properly. Format, install, run software update, fix permissions and you should be ready to rock 'n' roll. Unless you have particular software requirements you won't …
Re:
How do i make a hyperlink out of a c:/ command
No idea - ask on a Windows forum :)
Re: It'll be fine, but more RAM would definately be a good move - Dreamweaver can be a bit of a hog :) . Get as much as you can afford, there's a 1 Gb limit in the mini, but that's plenty, 512 Mb is pretty much a minimum working level. …
Re: All Macs come loaded with software ideal to the classroom, iMovie, iPhoto, Garageband and Appleworks to name just the obvious ones. They are also easy to network, virus free and, as your friend points out never crash. All of these points make the Mac perfect for a school situation where …
Re: Start up your Mac up from the System CD. Look in the menus - there is an option there to change the Admin password. Reboot from your Harddisk. Done :)
Re: Thanks for posting your solution :) I've been looking for something like that too
Re: If you ask me, it's worth the upgrade for Layer Comps alone. This is a great way to have multiple versions of a file for client approval.
Re: I knowe this probably sounds like a stoopid question (;)) but: Have you tried rebooting your Mac?
Re: What are you using for e-mail? Apple mail? Entourage? Or is it web-mail? Try checking your account settings (though I'm sure you've already done that a couple of hundred times;)) Some ISP's don't allow 'relaying' - maybe this is part of the problem. Have you changed any other 'bits' of …
Re: Use iPhoto - you already have it in your Applications folder, and you probably still have it in your Dock, unless you removed it from there yourself.
Re: Or zip the folder into a single file. Right click on the folder and select 'Create Archive of "Folder name"' - this will create a zip file of the folder with all contents intact in the same location as the original folder - then you only have one file to …
Re: You can just plug it in, on top of the existing drive - the cables are right there waiting for it :) Remember to set the drive to slave, using the jumpers.
Re: Hi Christian :) err.. what's a PITA???
Re: What are the webcams? There is a depressing lack of support for most web-cams from OS X - which seems to mean that only horrendously expensive kit works. Did the cams used to work? has he installed any other software recently?
Re: You can also use the "save as..." command and select a different file type from the menu at the bottom of the save dialogue box. PSD files are Photoshop native files with layers, alpha channels, paths etc and can't be opened with most other apps (though there are exceptions). Try …
Re: yeah - thanks for going to the trouble of posting the fix :)
Re: If you drag and drop files over to your external drive, your Mac will copy the files, not move them. Remember to delete them from the internal drive otherwise you won't have saved any space at all. Sorry if that sounds obvious and condescending.
Re: I assume that this is somehow a legal copy of the application? Didn't you get a physical CD with it?
Re: You already have Safari - it's in you Applications folder. Firefox is a free download from mozilla.org. Both are good browsers - better than MIE.
Re: I agree, the price of the Mac mini makes processor upgrades very unattractive. Prices in the UK start at 339 quid (including VAT), which is more than you were talking about, but you can use your existing monitor, keyboard and mouse and I'm sure you could get at least 150 …
Re: Hmm... that shouldn't happen. I'd expect a 200 Gb (I assume you mean Gb not Mb) to leave you with well over 180 Gb free space. Maybe Panther can't handle more than 128 Gb pr unit?? Anyone know about limitations on this ?
Re: Channels are greyscale only - basically, they define a selection. If you want to add colour, go back to your layers pallette and click on they layer you want to adjust.
Re: You being able to see the photo in iPhoto doesn't help anyone but you, unless of course you're inviting us all over for coffee and a slide show ;) You need to upload the file somewhere on the internet and post the URL (Uniform Resource Location = the unique 'address' …
Re: Go ahead, resize it -drag the bottom right hand corner. Your screen has a resolution of 1400x900, which'll probably be too big - adjust to taste :) You may want to consider using a different browser though - MIE is hopelessly outdated, not to mention SLOOOooooow. You already have Safari …
Re: Sounds to me like you've downloaded a PC program. PC installers are usually called something like setup.exe, Mac installers either don't exist (just drag and drop the software wherever you want on you disk) or they're called something human like 'install'. Make sure you download Mac versions of youe software, … |
