You will need to get a CD of the previous OS. Doesnt matter if you own it, or if it's Win98, ME, 2000. During setup of XP, you'll need to pop in the said CD when it asks you to. Thats it.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

you mean 3.0 GB/S and 1.5 GB/S right?

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Cant wait to get it...hehehehe

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Personally, i feel Vista is nothing but eye candy...

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

I suppose. Try contacting the original vendor who provided you the computer. He may be able to help.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Okay. I have a seagate sata drive, but i dont see any jumper pins on it. that means is a sata2 drive? What's the diff between sata 1 and 2?

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

So what happened when you plugged the SATA 2 disk on your mobo without setting the jumper? It didn't get detected?

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

No. An upgrade version requires that you have an old edition of a product. I don't think you are even asked the old product's key.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Actually, hacking means finding vulnerabilities / loopholes in a system and then telling the owner of such a system about the said vulnerailities so that corrective action can be taken.

Cracking on the other hand means finding vulnerabilities and taking advantage of them to either make money (illegally) or to gain access to restricted systems with malicious intent

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

^ has a nice face

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Sorry. You'll either need to get an ethernet card installed, or use your phone line to dial in to the internet.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

I have to agree. Cracking (its the correct term, BTW) is illegal, unethical and wrong. If you do crack into accounts for any reason, you deserve to be punished maximum.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

When you launch IE, does IE open wih the xonents of the desktop or does it minimize immediately and show you the desktop?

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

But you will be required to enter a new serial number, provided on your XP packaging.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Flash player 8-->107 megs? No offense, but that sounds crazy. The flash plugin is barely a few megabytes in size. You must be downloading some other flash app.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

I'll have to agree. Why would you want to plug in your phne cable into your ethernet slot anyway?

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Sata 1 had jumpers? I thought sata (1 or 2) didn't have any jumpers...

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

I think we're going a bit too far about installing a game on DVD. Have you actually installed a game on a DVD before?

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

I kinda suspect the drive here.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

It shows up in device Manager, but not under Disk Management? That's quite weird. Can you check the disk on another computer to see if the disk itself isn't kaput?

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Thats what im wondering.......

Well,we all know that XP has a "compatibility mode" and maybe he used that to make it work,i dunno.....

Yeah, but to run it in compatibility mode, you have to install it first. how'd you get it to install?

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

I know what you mean dude. The same thing happens on my machine as well as other machines ive run 16 bit apps on

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Wgere are Questions 2 and 3?

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

How'd you get IE2 on XP?

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Actually, what you're experiencing is perfectly normal. I don't know why, but running any 16 bit task seems to eat up CPU time like crazy. If anyone else can explain why this happens, I'm all ears.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Danger --> Top Gun

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

yeah. same here. PM me your email IDs. Got about 92 left.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Vista needs a dedicated graphics chip (at least of the FX5200 level) with 128 MB of dedicated vram to switch on the eye candy. I doubt you can view the aero interface in all it's glory using an onboard chip.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

The remaining 128 MB is probably dedicated as VRAM. That means you have an onboard video card and of your 512 MB, 128 is being used exclusively by your Vid card. You can change a few settings in your BIOS and actually reduce the amount of mem the vid card uses.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

I dunno. I have 2 machines, one with a FX5200 and a 6600. The rest of the specs include Athlon64 2800+, 1 gig RAM and 120 Gig HD. Vista runs quite sluggishly on the one with the FX card. I suppose MS will polish the performance of the final product.
