Calm down now take deep breathes *Breathes heavily* you need to go find a flame forum I'm thinking... or get Dani to make one. OR better yet, just ignore each others petty comments and get on with your lives. Plus fatallah, he's right, the forums aren't just for getting answers for your homework, do some research. You have to live your life by yourself, we can't eat, sleep and breathe for you.

Well guys, Photoshop CS is out and I am really dissapointed, there isn't many major changes from photoshop seven. :( I was expecting great things from that program, what are your opinions?

slade, I'd personally consider that something like WTF? or LMFAO is a responsible alternative to making an extreme statement which includes obscenities.

Like I said, it's ok to do, just don't overdo it... you know what I mean? Things like 'lol' and other common acronyms are ok, but sometimes people will come up with something like 'bbiacom' (is not real, just as an example) and I will say, "what does that mean?" And of course, they reply like I'm a moron "Be back in a couple of minutes!!! u r just plain stoopid rnt u?" This is the point where I fly into an uncontrollable rage and plot for world destruction because some idiot is too lazy to spell out 'are' or 'you'.

Sometimes I cry myself to sleep because of this.

Your best bet would be to continue teaching yourself. Check out some flash tutorial sites such as www.kirupa.com and www.cbtcafe.com

I know this is an old thread, but I would love to participate in a contest... lol I'm guessing I'm too late. You guys were saying how some of logodesignz work was too "simple" well in most cases, simple for a website is best as I've discovered. If you do too much... it looks tacky.

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

Use gif images, they are much more compressed than jpegs and were originally designed for use on the web. Rixius was right, try the save for the web option, you can save gif files there and tweak their options.

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

Hey that's cool! Good for you, and welcome to the forums!

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

lol, for my information as well, I didn't know that

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

This won't work if they are saved under a name other than the website. The only thing I can think of is to go into the property sheet of each page (right click on the favourite>properties) and copy the url of each one into a text file, then print it. Or just open each one and copy the url in the address bar.

Hope this helped,

Slade

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

Paul,
This is because the pages you are trying to print are too big for an a4 sheet. Some web pages have printer friendly pages so you can print out the content, but not always. In which case I just select what I want to print then go to print and only print the selection, or just going right click>print.

Hope this helps,

Slade

Howdy guys! I need help with something (yes, again). What my plan is, is to have two user inputs on a website, one of these inputs will be the header for the html e.g. "DaniWeb TechTalk computer support", the other for the page content, e.g. "Hi, my name is zorba...". This data needs to be saved to an aspx file, and once that has been done, another aspx page has to display the header or title of the page e.g. "Daniweb TechTalk computer support" with a link to the aspx. Now I have thought about this a little and the input from the users can be saved into label controls in the text property. Another thing is I could have an aspx page template so that the page only needs to be copied from that and the labels inserted in the right spot. Now what I don't know is how to do this heh ;) I really hope you guys can help me with this one because I'm not sure I will be able to figure it out by myself. I have faith in you guys.

Thanks heaps for your time,

Slade

Referring to the keyboard pic up there ^, do you guys share my opinion when I say that acronyms are ok to use... just don't overdo it! People who abbreviate every single little word piss me off something chronic. It drives me insane. This world gets dumber with each coming day.

Hey guys,

I'm using VS .NET 2003, and I am designing a web application in VB .NET, I'm just wondering, Tekmaven mentioned to me in another thread of mine that it would be a good idea to use the datalist control as a menu, how would I use it to get menu's much the same as those on this site, or any control for that matter.

Thanks again guys,

Slade

Ok dude, just a few questions on this(sorry for the bother):
oh, and could you please be fairly specific on the details, I haven't used C# before :)

How do I skin it, what files need editing?
can I skin the emoticons/add my own, if so can you elaborate (how to do it lol)

Thanks you so much Tekmaven, I owe you one :)!

replace (hexadecimal code referring to your background colour of choice!)

with a hexidecimal value, such as

<body bgcolor = #FFFFFF>

will produce a white background

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

Well it works like this.

<HTML>

<Head>
<title>Zorba</title>
</head>
<Body bgcolor = (hexadecimal code referring to your background colour of choice!)>

annnd for the table

<table width="90%" align="center" bgcolor =(hexadecimal code referring to your background colour of choice!)>
<tr><td align="left" valign="top">

	 PAGE CONTENT HERE

</td></tr>
</table></body>
</html>

hexidecimal values can be found at http://www.december.com/html/spec/color.html or http://www.web-source.net/216_color_chart.htm , give us the link to your site so I can check it out :D

Happy coding!

You could a thousand times better than somebody with a degree but they would still be hired over you... in most cases. It really does depend on the employer but basically, you need some hard copy qualifications nowadays (My dad used to work for Jobs Australia lol, a compan0 that deals with finding people jobs and now I'm working for Golden West, which is also does the same thing). For the most part, an employer will choose a kid with a degree rather than somebody with a mere bit of experience under their belt. I work with two highly qualified programmers, and they hold 8 degrees between them, trust me when I say they get jobs easily. Anyway, so yeah, I'd say go for the degree.

I think I should mention here that my failure teaches us all how careful you must be with a pc. Do surgeons play around with body parts they don't know about when they are operating? No, they know exactly what they are doing and what the procedure should be. In most cases. The same should be with a PC, you shouldn't screw around and rough house them in any way, inside or out. Just thought I'd let you all know, when operating on a pc, make sure EVERYTHING is in order before switching it back on.

Just didn't want you guys to make the same mistakes I did :)

Cheers,

Slade

But still, I feel bad that I had overcome one obstacle but didn't acheive my ultimate goal :(. I love the sense of achievment but the sense of failure has exactly the same magnitude of effect except opposite to achievment :(. It bites.

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

lol it's not that big of a deal really, it has a 466MHz cpu for crying out loud. It's absolutely old, and damaged at that. the notebook case is cracked and basically rotten, someone from our longreach branch found it in their car after so many years so they gave it to me to fix, since the other techs had no idea what to do anyways. So I just did anything, they said they didn't care if it broke AND a bonus to it breaking is I may just be able to flog some of the RAM and some other parts for my own notebook lol.

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

No, I hadn't changed any more, just the on one. Perhaps I should change more? Couldn't hurt right?

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

Well, I think it overheated, I'm not sure. I went into the bios system setup, was there for a couple of minutes, then the screen went blank. I reset and the screen remained blank. The cpu was pretty hot too so I don't know what happened. To my knowledge all fans were functioning. There is no response from the computer whatsoever when I turn it on. No screen, nothing from the keyboard, it's just dead. But it still turns on, what happened?

Slade

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

lol, it's a bios thing, but don't worry I screwed the whole machine by overheating it. Tis all good though, no-one went nuts abuot it. It was a hunk of junk anyways. Perhaps I can save some parts.

Thanks for your trouble
