I would suggest you take a look at the Site Management category, in particular the Growing an Online Community forum where I think you will get the response you require.

Sorry. I didn't know it was a member popularity contest (quality of content is why I think toulenwoek is hands down winner).... I'll stay away from it then in order not to cause any trouble.

But that's exactly what I am saying: your favourite is Toulenwoek because you rate the quality of his blog postings higher. Other people will disagree, that's the nature of a vote.

I'm not suggesting it is a popularity contest based upon which member people like most, but based upon which blog they like best.

So no need to apologise, and please don't stay away either! Obviously we are just differing on how we interprete the use of the word favoritism in this case.

I'd suggest you take a look around the MS Windows sub forums and ask there.

ePublishing is a fairly broad catch all, it seems to me, covering everything from blogging through to the sale of books in digital format (PDF for example.)

What did you have in mind, beyond the 'make some money out of this' premise?

Welcome back Dani, here's hoping you've had your share of hardware hell for many years to come.

I always dread it when I change machines every 3 years or so, for exactly the reasons you have been experiencing.

I wouldn't sell my body for tattoo space, that is far too valuable a commodity. It is costing me a fortune filling the available space with tattoos, truth be told.

I like to ride bicycle, read books, rollerblade, and plot world domination. That's all I have to say about that, unless any of you fine individuals reading this have any questions for me.

Just the one: how do you ride a bicycle while reading a book?

I suspect the answer is 'very carefully' or something. :)

Hi Gordon, don't get me started on old computing kit. I collect it, but mainly from the video gaming perspective. That said, I do have a range of Speccies up in the attic, about 20 in full working order and most fully boxed, plus at least 50 for spares. My wife thinks I am a very sad bloke, although the UK Museum of Computing prefer to think of me in terms of a useful chap to borrow display items from :)

PS. Dani, I would hate to have been born in 1982 as I would have missed enjoying being a teenager during the birth of punk rock in the UK. Some of my fondest memories include seeing bands such as The Damned, The Clash, The Stranglers and The Sex Pistols live in their prime. Movielad: That's a real shame, I think that whatever external stresses you have got the better of you here. The wolfpack comment was, it seems to me, meant in jest. If I had been around I would have honored your request, but I would have wanted to PM you first to make sure you really wanted to withdraw as you seemed so excited at first. It's a also a real shame that you took the action that you did WRT your blog, which was uncalled for I think. But such is life, and I trust everyone can move on.

Dani: I did mention that I'd be away for a couple of days on business, but was hoping to have at least some connectivity. Unfortunately, my notebook packed up on me while away (battery died a total death) and was unable to get near an Internet Cafe or alternative due to workload. So apologies for my silence, these things always strike at the worse time huh?

Everyone else: I trust that this whole matter hasn't spoiled an otherwise excellent blooging contest, a contest which was designed as a fun thing to encourage more people to blog, and enjoy their blogging. I sincerely hope that this will be the case in spite of the movielad hiccup.

I suggest that you take a look at the DaniWeb How To which Dani has just finished turning into a really useful and easy to understand guide to using DaniWeb. I would also advise that you read the DaniWeb Rules as these will also help you to get the best out of the service we offer.

Someone will most likely be along soon with a spot on suggestion of where to ask the question. That's the beauty of DaniWeb, with nearly 100,000 members (yep, we are nearly there!) there is always someone in the community who is going to be able to help out. Of course, being a global community everyone is on different time, and what with work and leisure getting in the way (especially over a weekend) an immediate response is not always possible. Hi dmksh, I think you have posted this in the wrong forum mate, this is for DaniWeb related stuff only. Sounds like you need to find the most appropriate sub-forum in the Linux and Unix section of Tech Talk.

Difficult to choose just the one, as it depends on how I want to relax. Cool off and then fall down would be bourbon, cool off and get rather happy would be beer (either a German weis beer or my favourite pint of classic English Ale, Courage Directors). However, to cool off and calm down without any of the booze related after effects it has to be tea every time, in my case that is green tea, preferably with lotus blossom flowers or jasmine blended in. Ah, sheer bliss...
