Well I hate to say it but it is now back... I'm slowly drawing a blank, the file pointed to in the registry does not exist. A new dll gets created but I delete it in safe mode. hijackthis shows up some entries which i remove in safe mode, I then run, spybot, noadaware etc, cw shredder, about:buster, in safe mode, for each user, but then it comes back.

any new ideas?
Do you reckon sp2 will help? I can only see it leading to problems to be honest if other microsoft software is anything to go by.

you should defrag regulary to put files back were they belong .to optimize the file system ,windows works better when it doesn't have to go looking all over the drive for files!!

This one indicates that you are using msconfig to kill some programs please go to msconfig and set it to Normal startup and restart computer and then run hijack angain and post a new log .

no comments with your log ,did you run the peper fix and if so did it make any difference ,all the file that the fix should have removed are still in you log !!

To hard to read that log ,run hijack ,the scan button will turn into a save log button , save the log ,and notepad will open up click save and just copy paste that log directly into you post .

We have no idea who you ISP is now ,so answering that question would be really hard !
Let me just say that if you are on dialup modem now and change to Cable or DSL the answer would be Yes .

sorry, i wrote my post wrong,, i didnt get rid of the boot.ini i got rid of the win2k line, from it, but during boot up it is still there, and also under msconfig, the boot.ini tab, it still list win2k after i have erased it from the ini

From what i read on the site i posted ,you remove the line frome the boot.ini ,then you have to delete the win2000 folder .Read it carefully

The person doesn't want to change the password just crack it so that no ones knowes he was in past where he's /she is allowed to go .

Got this laptop with MS Windows 2000 5.0 SP 4 in it. Now I am just a user assigned to this laptop. Dont have administrator rights. Cant download anything on this laptop.....dont even have winzip installed in this & can download it.

The person who setup this laptop is unavailable. Can someone please tell me how to know the admin password on this laptop...any software that is available for free. I got Winxp and win2k installed as a duel boot, im currently using xp and the win2k folders are in my c directory, i just want to remove 2k from my computer, and keep xp with out reformating or reinstalling.. what do i do...

Is there a feature or option that I can “activate so no other users can download anything to my machine without a password or something along those lines?

I had to install a new hdd and Win XP b/c my old hdd and win me were ruined, corrupted or something. I feel it was b/c one of the other users downloaded Kaaza and some other programs to share files and so he could go look at porn video clips, etc. I don’t care if he wants to look at porn; however, I do not want anything downloaded to my machine.
