Back to the problem at hand, is your power supply voltage set correctly? Test your power supply unit ( PSU ). Are you good with computers if not i suggest sending it for repair to have an expert to look at it. What Mjdodd said can be true too about the motherboard problem. How old is your laptop?

Is your friend PC is damn old, why not buy a new one? ( If he has the budget )

I need to know all your computer specifications including how old it is and what is your PC brand and model. Can be an overheating issue. Try clearing the heatsink.

If the problem is with the drive and not the drivers and CD itself, you can always buy a new CD drive and replace it yourself. It is very easy as there is only 1 to 2 screws.

Chrome should have that features as well. Go and check your plugin.

Do what RenanLazarotto. It is an simpel and easy solution to most conenction problem.

First try to see whether other computers or laptops can connect to the same network wirelessly. If yes nothing is wrong with the network but with your PC instead. If not, you have to reset your network.

Reseting Router ( if you have one at home )

If you have a router. There will be a reset button at the back of it, use a pen and hold down the reset button for 5 seconds. After that your network settings has been reset to default try and see whether you can connect to internet. To change back your router settings go to your router control panel. You should have a link if not try this link http://192.168.1.1/

If you are totally sure nothing is wrong with your network but with your PC instead, that means some settings may be blocking it. Check whether firewall or other security softwares are blocking it.

At the same time, at the bottom of your screen, click on the network icon. It will open a new tab for you. Go to network sharing center ( something like that ) and try reconnecting from there to your network again.

This may seem an idiotic question to you but have you type in the correct password. Secondaly, can you connect using an ethernet cable?

You need to have xcode. Sorry for repeating what you said Arkinder. You can get xcode for free in the mac app store.

The symptoms you mentioned above point clearly to a graphic card problem but we should not make a rash decision first. There are still some steps you can try. Do you still have the installation disk, if yes, insert the disk into your macbook pro and hold down the c button. See whether you can start up?

Hold down F2 when you start up to see whether you can do a hardware test. If you use an intel macbook, hold down D when you boot up.

Have you installed any new softwares or change your hardware parts recently?

Sorry i did not know your install disc were in the UK. Welcome to Singapore buddy, I am a Singaporean here. Singapore do have Apple Store. Go to the websites and check to see their locations. By the way what is your macbook version?

What rch1231 said is true. If you have a router, if will come it with a built i firewall, you can always go to the router control panel and change it. Do you want to block sites on a network or on a computer?

What rubberman said is correct have you done that. You can always use your phone as a wifi hotspot so your computer can connect to it. How are you connecting to the network? By wireless or ethernet cable?

What is your laptop model, go to device manager and check whether your driver is already installed. If yes check whether it is properly installed. It should not show any yellow exclamation marks or red x.

What you said is true, but chrome browser crash less on an average basis, still i am not entirely a chrome fan. Firefox for me!:)
