They didn't win in Korea.

I thought the US won korea? They aided south korea by making sure the communist power didn't come in from the north (aided by communist china). I only thought the US won because the communists didn't obtain anything from south, their borders remained the same rather than Vietnam... (according to a history book I randomly noticed in the school library...)

Actually, I learn lots of new things everyday and it's what makes me get out of bed in the morning.

And that is what puts me (and my peers) back to sleep and not due to the fact that we don't like learning but it is because we have to wake up early (before 7 and function on minimal amounts of sleep like I am right now) and go to school...

I got 21/21 on the first try... which is hard believe due to the fact that I avoid much of the grammar rules when typing in message boards/texting. Also... all those questions were ridiculously easy, at least for me it was.

Well... my grammar is gooder, and that is why I am taking AP Lang next semester because I am one of the bestest in my english class ;)

A man flying in a hot air balloon suddenly realizes he’s lost. He reduces height and spots a man down below. He lowers the balloon further and shouts to get directions, "Excuse me, can you tell me where I am?"

The man below says: "Yes. You're in a hot air balloon, hovering 30 feet above this field."

"You must work in Information Technology," says the balloonist.

"I do" replies the man. "How did you know?"

"Well," says the balloonist, "everything you have told me is technically correct, but It's of no use to anyone."

The man below replies, "You must work in management."

"I do," replies the balloonist, "But how'd you know?"*

"Well", says the man, "you don’t know where you are or where you’re going, but you expect me to be able to help. You’re in the same position you were before we met, but now it’s my fault."

@Jim, I guess TV shows are just meant to be entertaining than accuarate. I don't think it matters to the producers if it makes sense or not, if it was realistic, 1 CSI episode would have to take about a quarter of the season. Might as well cram everything in a half hour or 1 hour or however long episode...

Daniweb isn't the only site that follows that policy. Many sites follow it and I am in favor of it. Besides, 5 posts, 5 days of membership, and 15 rep points is not that hard to earn.

@Jim, that pianist is awesome. He is one of my favorite pianists. My grandfather once met the fellow by attending one of his performances.

@blackmiau, I think he is pretty impressive... but my style of piano performance is a bit different from his and not to be a guy with a big ego (i have a big ego XD) I believe I play better (I have recieved some university offers just for my musical skills, let alone my academics, verbal languages, sports, business skills (long story), and other extra curricular activities... though my computer science skills are not there yet, but will be by senior year of HS XD).

If you guys were wondering, some of my favorite pianists are: Artur Schnabel, Kempff, Rubenstein, Svietoslaf (I think i spelled his first name wrong) Richter, Claudio Arau, Sergei Rachmaninov, Alfred Brendel, and so many others. I like the classic figures (though some of the figures I listed aren't exactly classical due to them being 1900s... some argue saying they are not).

i honestly don't like music unless it is classical (which is weird coming from a 16 year old at my size). I typically enjoy playing the grand piano (8+ years), violin (1+ year), and cello (3+ years).

Some pieces that I like are: Peer Grynt Suite No. 1 (Edvard Grieg), 4 seasons (Vivaldi), anything beethoven, anything mozart, some from correlli, some from bach (I like brandenburg) and so on... I basically like all the songs from this list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_50_Greatest_Pieces_of_Classical_Music

Lets not be surprised that I hate our generation of music... what do we have for "talent" now? 1D, Bieber, Mahone, Cody Simpson, and rappers of all kind... yeah, no wonder why i don't like our music of this decade.

At the risk of derailing this thread, you have the right to be offended. I have the right to not care. In any case, your statement is incorrect. You are not allowed to draw a picture of Mohammed or Allah. I can do whatever the hell I want, and you can feel as offended as you want. Besides, in the first cartoon the author explains that he is not drawing a picture of the prophet, just someone who looks like him. In any case, since nobody knows what he looked like, who is to say what is or is not actually a drawing of him?

Well, it is true... i am not able to draw him nor can 1 or 2 billion muslims. I am simply trying to point out that one should not be doing anything to offend another person... in this case it was not you offending me, it was the creator of that site. But oh well, lets just move on and just imagine that this issue never occurred.

<M/> 170 Why so serious? Featured Poster

In islam, people are not allowed to make drawings of the prophet nor Allah. If you draw a picture of the prophet and make it in a way where it is the artist's depiction of him, you begin to start worsphipping the wrong person (I may need to reword that, i feel like i wrote that poorly). It says so in the quran and you can ask any muslim, only those that are devoted to their faith. When sites like the above draw images like that of the prophet, it shows disrespect to islam... and people begin to wonder why the people of islam get angry.

There was even a controversy when South Park made an episode where it featured the prophet in a bear suit, which led to many controversies towards the producers (it went to extremes where some were giving death threats to them; terrorism and doing such acts isn't islamic if you were wondering... just a reaction)

Here is a (not the best of sources, but it is good enough for this case): http://middleeast.about.com/od/religionsectarianism/f/me080322.htm

<M/> 170 Why so serious? Featured Poster

@Jim, the jesusandmo site highly angers me because it draws pictures of the prophet of islam, which is opposed in Islam because no one is allowed to even draw a picture of the prophet nor allah/god. Also, a lot of what they post is wrong anyways... I am not trying to start an arguement but that is just my word for it.

Well, as far as I am aware of... HACK is supposed to be a better version of PHP, so it should be object oriented and uses of HACK should be very similar to the uses of PHP.

Here is something I found:

Hack is a programming language for the HipHop Virtual Machine (HHVM) invented by Facebook. The language is open source.
Hack can be seen as a new version of PHP that also runs on the HHVM, but it allows programmers to use both dynamic typing and static typing. This is what is called gradual typing, which has been mostly seen as an academic exercise; as described by Facebook, it is the first to bring gradual typing to a "real, industrial strength" language.

For more info:
http://hacklang.org/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hack_(programming_language)
https://code.facebook.com/posts/264544830379293/hack-a-new-programming-language-for-hhvm/

I am going to start learning HACK during the summer... seems like it is worth a try.

We will see... Dani always gets things done asap. I also noticed that when your trying to provide a code snippet to any forum, the line count seems to flyout the editor, overlapping the navigation on the top.

<M/> 170 Why so serious? Featured Poster

Well exactly people, because most people that have such questions turn away because there is no immediate place to look for such a specific forum.
Yes I agree, CSS/HTML/PS all go hand in hand, but to the average forum user DaniWeb simply does not provide for PS/Design questions. As a result, DaniWeb looses traffic to other forums :'(
But I can quite understand where you're all coming from on finding somewhere to put it all and how Daniweb is already established as a dev forum (but Google was established as a search engine - what's stopped them branching out)
So I think it's a case of 'do we want to take the chance to accomodate another area of technology (and a wider audience)'? Which is someone else's call to make.
As for tagging I agree, but I've had an idea which I'll post shortly.

Exactly! If only I worded it that way...

as such things are a bit outside the already very broad scope of DaniWeb, which focuses on development and IT.

Isn't it best to be diverse? I mean, look at Google... they are not just a search engine. Or even a competitor of yours, Stackoverflow... they have many different forums that are completely different from each other, though their users who answer your questions abuse the new users and their environment and everything sucks...

Honestly, I would love to see a new forum on daniweb that would contribute to people like designers who use photoshop/illustrator and so on. Though, the con would be that not many people would use it because Daniweb has been established very strongly as an IT and Development forum. Also, i don't see room on the navigation for new forums... unless you create a subdomain.
