Hey all! I am in college doing a speech on programming and one of my topics is to explain the difference between Java, C, and Objective C. I have been programming with Java for 3 years now and just started with C last month, but I don't know the differences between the three. I want to be able to explain what each is used for and such to people who don't program. I have seen the site where it compares the languages to family members, but that is still a little confusing. If you could explain or point me to …

What is the Windows equivalent of Cocoa from Objective-C? I'm thinking C++, but is there anything that includes an easier way to create a UI? (If there is an IDE that features a UI builder for C++, please mention) ((Sorry if you don't think I should've posted this here. Since it's software related, I figured 'Microsoft Windows' wouldn't be the best place to post it.))

I wanna build a program that allows you to send a mail and advices you when you have new mail. I know that for this I have to kee it running in the background. Would you recommend using C++ for such a purpose? (It's pretty much a mail client for now, but latter I plan to add a ton of things). Also, I've read the best way to achieve this is trough sockets. Is that true? Could you recommend some articles on the topic? Thanks for all :)

I am trying to connect objective c application to Java.. I am relatively new to both.. Basically I would like Java application front-end which can call the objective - c app. I was thinking about first creating the obj c library in xcode and than wrap it in java somehow to get it called by my Java front end. somehow using JNI.. I am fuzzy on the specifics of the mechanisms... I was to get some advice from some of the experts out there... Any pointers to articles or books or code example are greatly appreciated..

Yes, almost every single business out there wants to start a social media outreach, but I do wonder, from a marketing standpoint, which objectives are you trying to measure or answer with a social media campaign? IS it engagement? Or does having a Facebook page increase brick n mortal sales? It depends by business but I do wonder.
