I have a home lab I am trying to configure multiple subnets on and use Routing and Remote Access LAN Routing to get everything talking. I have two hosts w/ 5 physical NICS running Hyper-V. I have the NICS configured on each host so they each are in a different subnet. Example Host 1 NIC 1 10.10.10.1 Host 2 NIC 1 10.10.10.2 Host 1 NIC 2 10.10.20.1 Host 2 NIC 2 10.10.20.2. I can ping the IPs of each hosts nic from each other. So I know the two hosts are communicating. I setup a RRAS server with 5 virtual …

Hello Daniweb Community, I'm wanting to know if anyone has an idea on how to distribute wifi throughout a motel? The idea I got is kind of simple but the thing is how do I set certain bandwidth of guests/rooms? so when a guest checks in they are given like 1GB for example then when they use it they can purchase more then the manager just adds in however much they pay for. My idea was just adding users however what routers can I use? Here is my plan: ![Motel.png](/attachments/large/3/61f88438e93033f9ce4bd4008fe5434c.png "align-left")

Hello Daniweb, I'm going to moving houses soon, a house we might be moving into has a bungalow and I was wondering how I'd go about running ethernet from the house to the bungalow? My idea was to some how run the ether from the house to outside then dig a trench from the house to the bungalow run the ethernet throught a PVC pipe (not sure if it's worth it, only thinking for better protection) and lay it in the trench a bury it then find a way to feed it into the bungalow. Not sure if my method …

Good Morning, As this is a homework question, I'm hoping for some guidance in the correct direction or a website. I was given an IPv6 address and I need to find the EUI portion of the address. And EUI is just the first 24 bits of a MAC address with the seventh bit flipped, followed by FFFE (16 bits), and the last 24 bits of the MAC address. Naturally, if you see FFFE in the address anywhere, it's an EUI address. These are the IPv6 addresses: 2005:007D:4500:000C:0000:0010:11D8:6E71 2005:007D:4500:000C:0000:0002:4A5C:E1C9 The prefix is 2005:7D:4500:C::/64 FFFE isn't in either of them. Did I …

Good Evening, I just can't seem to wrap my head around this IP addressing. Lets say I want to use 192.168.1.0 default gateway. Then Router IP Address = 192.168.1.0 Lets say my subnet mask is 255.255.255.224 = 32 IP addresses and 30 hosts. That makes my first line out g0/0 from the router to switch1 ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.224 That gives me a network address of 192.168.1.1 Host range of 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.31 A broadcast address of 192.168.1.32 Lets make G0/1 from router to switch2 ip address 192.168.1.33 255.255.255.224 That gives me a network address of 192.168.1.33 a host range …

Hi Guys! I want to seek advice on how to deploy a Firewall Appliance side-by-side with a cisco router. The topology is like this. Cisco Router -> Firewall Appliance -> VLAN SW. I have already created a transit link between the units. The firewall appliance can see the router interface but the cisco router received reply time out from the appliance. Thanks in advance!

My Linksys Dual-N Band Wireless router is not assigning IP addresses to my wireless devices. I accidentally reset the darn thing and now I forget what my settings were for the type of security mode and encryption. It says it can connect to the SSID with WPA2-Personal and WPA-TKIP or WPA2-AES encryption, but it doesn't get an ip address. Any ideas?

Hey, I'm new here and could use some help. I just moved into a new apartment, and I need some help getting my wireless network set up. I cannot access the internet through my router. The internet is provided through my apartment complex, so I don't have the modem or anything, just the ethernet jack in the wall. I can connect if I hook up the ethernet cord directly to my computer, but I cannot connect to the internet when I hook up my wireless router. My macbook does connect to the network, but it does not allow me to …

Hi, I'm a developer by trade but I've done some networking in the past (mostly buying and creating machine specifications but also a bit of firewall management and AD policies,) In a previous company I was even Manager of the Systems department (Developers and IT guys) Anyway I've recently joined a small ( 6 person,) company and so it is upto everyone to do what they can. Currently we have a wired Windows AD network with a 2003 SBE server as the Domain controller. We all have smart phones that the company pays the bill for and because we spend …

Hi ! I'm trying to learn about sockets using winsock in c++. What I want to do is have one computer (my computer) act as a mini server for my friend to connect to directly from his house (different ISP). I have a basic chat program set up which works fine as long as it's within my router (I can connect to a 2nd computer in my local network with a 192.168.x.x …

I'm currently in the process of getting a CCNA certification (well, beginning to, anyway) and I'm starting to think about what kind of setup I should have to experiment with and observe network communications. Packet Tracer is useful, but it isn't meant to be a replacement for actual routers and switches anyway. So I'm looking for something that will give me hands-on experience with networking -- something I can experiment with long into the dead of night, rather than being restricted to the routers at school. The problem is that I don't know how to do this effectively without spending …

I've been building a commercial website and I'm ~30% finished, but there's a little problem I've been dealing with that I think I can stop but before I do all that I want to know if it works. So here's the deal. Right now I'm running Apache on my machine and everything is working and I'm using 192.168.1.56 for my ip address which is nice because since I have my ports forwarded I can get to the website from outside by using my public IP. That being said, I have a very finicky wireless connection to my router that drops …
