i just reformatted my desktop pc, once windows had finished the install, i found that i formatted the wrong drive!!!!!!!
now all my photos, music, documents and other various bits of shit are now gone. is there any apps that recover files that have been fully formatted over?

Restore them from the backup disks you made.
If you didn't make any backup disks, you will from now on. Make two copies.

It will really depend on how much data your windows has re-written to that particular drive. Use some recovery software to see if you can recover anything. Use this comparison of data recovery software if you're confused which one to use.
