Re: SEO

I'm not quite sure what you're asking, but you can use Google Webmaster Tools to suggest the rich snippets that you want to use for your site. Is that what you're asking? Sorry, I'm confused by your question.

We originally became purple to be *different* and stand out from the 1,000,001 blue IT sites that existed back in the late 90s and early 2000s on the web. Purple was chosen for a number of subliminal reasons. Ten years later, it looks like Microsoft is actually copying *US* since …

Making money from AdSense is definitely possible but you need a content-rich site (i.e. not an e-Commerce site). It's a popular revenue maker for forums, especially, because forum goers tend to not click on traditional banner ads as they browse around the site. Text links that are contextually targeted to …

It really comes down to a time factor. The amount of time it would take to redesign a front end for tablet and mobile devices when only 1% of our audience is on a tablet/mobile device. From what I understand, half of that percentage is just Davey alone.

It seems to me like a problem with the sound card drivers. What sound card is it? I don't think you can overclock a soundcard because I don't believe it has a processor in it, but even if you could, and you did, it would just speed up the clockcycles …

Most blog systems often require comments from registered users to prevent spam. Bloggers want to encourage people to register to, as you say, build a list of email subscribers, but also to allow guests to comment on their articles. If your system does not allow any extra privileges, guests are …

That's way too much code for me to read, but what you are going to want to do is store the integer by itself in the database, but on DISPLAY, when printing out the number, wrap it in the php number_format() function.

We salt passwords uniquely for each user and store them in the database, because that is how vBulletin did it. When we migrated to our own platform, it just made sense at the time as the easiest way to not require everyone to create a new password. In order to …

I think we'll see more Panda refreshes and updates to Penguin in the form of putting more emphasis on catching false positives. For example, better work detecting which version is the original when duplicate content is detected, and even more emphasis placed on social signals (number of Facebook shares, Twitter …

While I know a lot of people who listen to music when they code, I need complete silence in order to really get into it. Years ago I used to keep the tv on in the background for company, but I can't do that anymore for some reason.

There are no time tracking devices in the room, but no one said there's no ruler in the room. Take a ruler and measure the candle, and you'll know how much needs to be burned for 45 mins.

Last week, James and I had been having memcache issues, where establishing a connection to memcache was slowing down page times significantly. I put it there to help me debug the issue, and left it because I thought it was a cute lil statistic to have.
