Re: With most modems I have seen, when you are using the USB port for connection to a computer, the ethernet port becomes disabled automatically. If that is what you have at the moment, you will need to pop an ethernet card into your computer, pick up a decent 10/100 WiFi …
Re: Sounds like you actually have two problems. In regards to broadcast messages: If you are connected to a "switch" instead of a "hub," you will not recieve broadcast messages. Switches are intelligent and route packets differently than a standard hub. A hub broadcasts packets to everything connected to it. A …
Re: Linux can have some undesired after effects on hardware. I've even seen a monitor go pop and start smoking after having misconfigured the X server. My suggestion, back up your linux partition then perform a secure erase of the hard drive just to make sure there are no viruses left …
Re: I may be able to help better if I knew why you were trying to achieve this. I've looked through the configuration files for Firefox and I do not see an option to prevent it from accessing your hard drive.

Re: Hiya, Sounds to me like a possible firewall issue. I'm not familiar with that specific modem. I do know, however, that some dsl/cable modems have a built in firewall that can be set to block certain domains or IP ranges. Find the manual for your modem and read it over …
Re: Reinstalling the program then Uninstalling it again is probably the best or easiest way to get rid of them. Otherwise you can manually uninstall by simply deleting their program directories, removing the icons from Start Menu, and if you are feeling really squirrelly, checking your registry and removing the program …
