No probs man...We will help you out as much as possible. nothing to worry for...have a nice sleep. I think it is midnight at ur end :)
VLC won't help if you are missing out on Drivers. I too earlier thought that installing VLC would solve all issues but once for all I had installed K-Lite Codec Pack and many VLC shortcomings too vanished. He can use any player once Codec is installed. Anyways VLC ofcourse is the best compatible lighweight player available.
it can be downloaded from
http://www.videolan.org/mirror.php?file=vlc/0.8.6c/win32/vlc-0.8.6c-win32.exe
Then the probabilty is higher that something is wrong in Hardware level. I know it is tedious to download Linux and I'm nowhere near to fetch you a copy but just to be sure it is Hardware problem alone so that you can be sure whether to reach out to a service center or not, I am persuading to check out with linux.
Just try to get a copy from any of your friends. They must be having one Live CD for Linux atleast. Many Linux magazines supply complementary copies of Linux.
Good Luck!
Hi, what it now looks to me is that there is a serious problem with your Graphics Adapter/LCD Ribbon. If at all Linux does not have this problem then we can be sure that there is some Hardware/Driver incompatibilty alone.
Hey do one thing. While the windows boots up. press F8 and then boot it in Safe mode. see if the same happens.
I'm really dumb why din't this strike to me earlier.
The same used to happen with my OLD CRT monitor when I used to increase the positive potentials on the vertical deflecting plates of the Picture Tube. It used to reach the extreme end and wrap up like a folded sheet of paper. Am I able to picturize your problem correctly?
This means you are having a wrapping up of the display. the conclusion I can draw for now is that either your Display Adapter is sending wrong signals/LCD Ribbon has some problem.
When you try to boot it in Linux does the GUI behave the same way as it does in Windows. I need to know are there similarities if any.
It seems there was a typo. It is PXE-E61 Error. Actually the laptop is owned by a person who initiated the thread I have referenced with prev link.
It became clear to me that his laptop has a PXE ROM and in BIOS Network Booting is enabled so while doing a POST it tries to discover a host to boot from. Further on finding none it proceeds with Windows booting. Now is this an error that can be neglected or needs some serious probing?
I got it now. This actually means you have a network boot option in your boot sequence. In case there is a PXE ROM in your Mother Board. it is just to have a network boot option enabled. you can most probably disable it from your BIOS.
And regarding the Mouse Cursor. I could not picturize the scenario. It is bit vague to me. can u hrow some more light on it.
Oh now i know what i mean
I know such things exist for networking. Its called "Homeplug"
how is it different from a normal socket.
6.0 is a lot different than 2005.
That is what takes developers a lot of time to port programms from one version to another. So atleast a fair amount of knowledge would be necessary in order to know how and what is working inside a program.
Tell me if i'm wrong.
ok I take back my words. No isssues
That's what was warned earler too, these are buggy drivers. What is the version of SUSE you are using?
Welcome to Daniweb!
Looking forward to see your Active participation in C# Forum.
Good Luck :)
please download the all in one codec pack from
http://ftp.isu.edu.tw/pub/Windows/softking/soft/en/k/klcodec330f.exe
Install it andrestart. I bet your problem will be gone in the next reboot.
Good Luck
Using the Opera browser I am finding that the thumb shots are staying open after passing over links
Try the solution provided in the screenshot attached.
Though your General Browsing expereince will become a bit slow but will most probably solve your problem. Good Luck!
I also like Opera but all the editor boxes don't run for all the three following forums
1) http://www.daniweb.com
2) http://www.codeproject.com
3) http://forums.microsoft.com
I'm Using Opera 9.21 but still this problem stays. For Daniweb and Codeproject the editing options won't come and for MSDN Forum the editor box itself won't show up.
Otherwise Opera is really better than Firefox and IE
Hi,
can anybody tell how come a standalone laptop is giving this error.
PXE-561
I tried Googling just to end up without finding even a single result. PXE alone yields many results but nowhere 561 is mentioned. what i it some kind of error number I suppose.
For more information please refer the follwing link

Obviosuly not. This was 1 min ago
Mine to 60 seconds ago
yay i was correct
quick question, do you use apache 1 or 2 and php 4 or 5?
I my Opinion it would be the invincible Combo of Apache2 and PHP5
Hope this time I've hit the Bull's Eye :-/
Yes. A Hello World Dialog box pops up when you hover the mouse over this thread listing the the Feedback forum page.
Actually it does not. HTML is disabled
:( Oops you had to reinstall everything. Hope all is working fine now!
Happy computing :)
Hi Shouvic.d
PXE-561 MEDIA TEST FAILURE CHECK CABLE
Do you think this could be of significance and is it referring to the display cable ??
Well this is really strange. PXE stands for Preboot Execution Environment. And it has nothing to do with the LCD ribbon. To add to the incredibility of this situation I could fing nothing in Google on searchin PXE-561. I am really blown out with this error. HAve you ever done a network bootup.
Well I think that the ISO Image didn't burn properly so it is not able to recognize it as a Bootable CD. Though this is very weird to Happen. For now best solution would be to borrow some of your Colleagues already Bootable Linnux CDs.
Really sorry steve! the Linux thing should have worked. I don;t know why it didn't. Ubuntu is really great.
Meantime see if u can get a copy of Ubuntu from your colleagues
when it comes to embedded nothing can beat C as it can create smallest and highly fucntional programs. Be it a small microcontroller to highly complex Avionics softwares all use C.
Alternatively, you can set them all to cable select and let the hardware figure it out. This is a lot easier, especially if you swap drives around much.
That is valid only if you are using UDMA2 cable(thin ribbon 80 wires). Please ensure that you are using UDMA2 cable then only change to cable select. Don't do it without being confirmed if you are using the same or not.
How much are mainframes used anymore? (Serious question, I really have no idea...)
Well in India whose Railway network is most dense and massive in the whole world the Reservation system throughout the country uses Mainframes with Unix RISC servers. (Motorola RX000series dual server systems).
Many other places where you need extremely fast interface with least implemenatational cost Mainframes still Dominate.
Do a windows repair. It might as well overwrite the corrupt File.
Does the Monitor raster come up if unplugged from the Video Interface but the power is on. Atleast the constantly floating dialog No Signal kind of thing.
If it shows up then do one thing. Try reinserting your graphics card by pulling it off at first. Also pull off the BIOS battery for more than a minute or two and replace it. Check all the necessary connections in detail with refernce to the Motherboard Manual. When all done press the power button and keep the Insert key pressed while the system is doing a POST. I think this would solve your problem
Sorry but i cannot see anything other than try your suggestions. Where are they?
where are what and what on earth is a Hydro Outlet. Somekind of fluid exchanger or what?
They couldn't open '07 documents in office 03?? That's strange..
yes it wouldn't because all Of2007 documents are stored with an 'x' suffixed to the extension. viz .docx,.xslx etc.
To let Office2007 files open in 2003 and earlier version there is an Option in File->Save as Office 97-2003 format
then only you can open but with considerable loss of features which are missing in 2003 and earlier versions.
try doing a repair first then if the problem still persists then do a format ur Windows partition. If u need to backup your data u can boot your system with a Linux Live CD and mount the Hard disk partition and copy all that you need.
Hope your problem gets solved.
Cheers! It would be helpful to other posters if you let us know how did you solve it! I think you should be able to do it...can you please?
very first of all...pls ct d txt tlk...
It is highly irritating. No matter how many times Senior members at Daniweb have asked, people still continue. PLease refrainf from this habit.
Coming back to your question you ofcourse can do this. All you need is a windows service application which would run at bootup and keep searching for USB devices via the available USB controller.
once detected you can use the User's Privilege Account from the LDAP server and authenticate it, If the USER is allowed to access the system with a USB device ot not.
But if you take my opinion this would be a time taking task that will make the user wait even if he/she is authenticated.
I would recommend you to creata a windows service that would run locally in each system and just access user policy rights from the Current User registry key and make necessary allows/denies as per the priviledge level defined in Group Policies
In case your network is down any day then even authenticated users' wont be able to access the USB devce if you give prefernce to the Netowrk model.
Rest you decide as per your requirements.
Finally all these can be done simply by editing the Group Policies. You need not even write a program for it. If you want to know more about it refer microsoft support in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555324/en-us. this adm file once configured in ur LDAP server will …
you can try something on IDS or Honeypots. for more details please refer to Google

please ask the author of this program I think the person can help you out with your needs
hi,
i'm trying to create a shared object. the files i want to put in the shared object use a properties file to read some of the data. is there a way to include the properties file in the so file?
I think the object needs to be serializable in order to be storeed as a file. and I'm a bit unclear on the term properties file. Could you please throw some more light on it.
please refrain from posting images as a part of your jokes. This will unnecessarily occupy daniweb servers and also slow it down for no reason. there are no issues in sharing a joke but not at the cost of Daniweb's Performance.
This thread will then grow more to a spam than that of a nice place to have some fun! Hope I'm not trampling on others' fun and as well making my point clear
yipeee! I guessed Partially right!
Tons of thanks to Dani...:)
We hope there will me more resources being added to Daniweb very soon in Near Future
It really is the best place to hang out :)
if it is PostGRE are u using Linux servers (mostly yes I think). And if that is the case you must be running Apache :)
To be able to create an Exe file in Visual C++ (I hope by your context you are using 6.0) you need to have fairly good knowledge of C++. next an Exe application can be of two types Console based / Graphical User Interface. For console based you can use Win32 Console APllication (as Ancient Dragon has guided you to the tutorial) and code in the ToDo areas for what operation you want to do. Next compile and build the program. This way u can create a console based exe.
For Graphical based exe you have to learn a bit more of MFC before proceeding.
Please revert back to us in case of more clarification.
Type gpedit.msc in run. Browse through the User rights and Local Policy section and see if you have had disabled an of such related topics. Topics in sense the security policies that deny or allow links of any kind be it internet explorer/ Outlook etc. see and find for such thing. I'm really unable to help you out because I'm not a Vista User. :( Please bear with my vague directions.
GOOD LUCK
A businessman finds that his neighbor in the first class cabin of his flight is a parrot. They take off and the stewardess asks what they would like to drink.
"Glenlivet on the rocks with a twist," says the parrot.
The businessman orders a coke.
After waiting two or three minutes, the bird starts yelling, "Where's my drink?! Stop fooling around and give me my drink!"
The stewardess runs to him with his glass, leaving the businessman still thirsty.
Half an hour later the stewardess makes a second round.
The bird orders another Glenlivet and a Wall Street Journal. The businessman asks for another coke.
Again, after a couple of minutes, the bird screams, squawking, "You lazy idiot! Where is my drink?!" The poor woman nearly trips over herself getting the parrot his drink and the newspaper.
The businessman still has nothing, and after ten more minutes decides to take his cue from the bird. "Hey! Where's my coke!
The service here stinks!"
Out of nowhere the purser, the captain and two passengers grab the businessman and the bird, open the hatch and throw them out of the plane.
At 30,000 feet in the air the two fall side by side and the parrot says to the terrified man, "Wow, that took a lot of guts for a guy with no wings."
Just Curious. How many server keeps Daniweb up and running!!!
:)
Gods and Godesses of Daniweb please help. :'(
well u can get a free copy of Linux Live CDs from http://shipit.ubuntu.com but it might take some time. If you have sufficiently high speed connecttion please download any live CD Iso image from http://www.distromania.com and burn it in a CD. next u can simply boot from the CD Directly.
But mostly Magazines like Linux4u and Linux World supply distros of Linux with their complementary DVD/CD so you can catch hold of a copy from you colleagues/friends.
By this method you need not disturb the current setup files at all(Win2000).
ALL THE BEST :)
Hi I got a good link here.
I think you can get your problem solved
http://www.slipstick.com/problems/link_restrict.htm
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q310049
1) On the Tools menu, click Options.
2) On the Preferences tab, under E-mail, click Junk E-mail.
3) Clear the Disable links and other functionality in phishing messages (recommended) check box.
See if this works. I hope you have done this already.
By thye way if raise the upperlimit mean overclocking I tried that too.
And y would that be overclocking :-O
I just asked you to raise the upper limit for the temperature at which th BIOS would send a shutdown signal to the OS in case CPU gets heated. Overclocking would be to increase the FSB or Vcore Voltage of the CPU.
Please don't confuse both of them. And what fren said is an excellent suggestion. Just get a spare harddisk and a Neat installation. work for some 7-8 hrs with it and then come to any conclusion. Your CPU is still up and running man! Don't give up on it
