I'm assuming you have a regular PCI slot then (not PCI-express). There are some graphics cards that use a PCI slot, but you can expect fairly old cards with pretty low bandwidth! Just do a search on newegg or any online retailed, and set the filters to PCI only.

Before I go ahead and buy my hard drive , I have one quick question. Will there be a performance increase if I went with SATA once I have actually opened an application? (Faster rendering times, or a higher frame rate in games) Thanks, and sorry for the silly question …

Hey all, I'm in the process of choosing parts for a new system I plan to build, but I always get horribly confused when it comes to choosing RAM. I'm planning on getting an AMD 64 3800+ processor. My first question is would it be better to take advantage of …

The problem is probably with the power supply. If you have a friend with a power supply rated at 300W or above try his in your system. Personally, I would recommend you return your PCI card and get an AGP one and a new power supply. AGP is much faster …

Actually, in my opinion the 3000+ 90nm is the best, bang for your buck. Believe it or not, the max the 3000+ 90nm can oc to (and still be stable) is the exact same as the maximum oc for a 3500+ (90 nm), the only difference is that the 3000+ …

Overclocking can yield some nice performance increases, but only do it if you: 1) Need the extra speed badly. 2) Have a cpu/motherboard that overclock nicely, and if it's a dell I can assure you your motherboard is NOT a stable overclocker ;P

Those temps are good. As long as your not going over 50 a lot you should be fine. If you see 50+ a lot you might want to consider a new case fan, or a new CPU fan or heatsink.

I recently finished putting together a new computer. When it's working, it runs fine. However, at completely random times, it will power off and power back on very quickly, with no error message or anything. The temperatures are all under 50C, and usually under 40. It can restart during an …

Remember, overclocking is very dangerous, it can easily fry your CPU in 10 seconds. Please make sure you know exactly what you are going to do, and know what warning signs to look out for before you even start the overclock. You could even buy an older system for cheap …

The Soltek K8T Pro is an excellent choice for a socket 939 mobo. A very fast, fully featured mobo for around 100-120. Best bang for your buck 939 mobo in my opinion. The Asus A8V or the Abit AV8 are also excellent options. EDIT: Didn't see the post saying you …

I was browsing xoxide recently when I noticed these cases. http://www.xoxide.com/vtech.html The 7105H looked especially nice. has anyone heard about these cases before? I understand that they are relatively new and it's unlikely that people have too much experience with them, just curious. Thanks.

I would either get a 6800GT or a 6600GT. Make sure you find the AGP model! 6600GT is an excellent deal. 200 for a 16 pipeline card with an excellent clock speed. It beats the pants off of a X800 pro. 6800GT is competing with the X800XT, the 6800GT costs …

Your computer looks fine. If you do a lot of intensive gaming, a newer video card might be a good idea, but otherwise your system is good.

Aye, at the very least restart your computer every couple of days. Try to keep your computer turned off when your not using it, if it's possible. This will help you get the most out of your computer ;)

I recommend getting rid of the PCI slot fan unless your graphics card gets dangerously hot without it. (which is doubtful because your system looks like it has planty of cooling) PCI lot fans actually do very little for cooling the case and add a ton of noise! All for …

I don't think we can expect mainstream BTX for another year or two. The Antec Superlanboy is an excellent case. I also really like the aerocool aeroengine cases, but that's just me. If cooling is important, the Temjin 6 is the best air cooled option.

Something else, rcrevolution was saying that you could simply overclock a 6800GT or X800XT to 6800ultra and X800 PE. This is semi-true, if you know what your doing and you have good cooling, you should be able to overclock 6800GT's and X800XT's to run about as fast as a 6800ultra …

Sorry mate, from the sound of it, the problem can't be fixed by doing anything yourself. Try bringing it in to a computer repair store. It might be time for a new compuer.

Ok, I have narrowed it down to these builds for my upcomining computer. Before I list them, however, I have a couple of questions. I know very little about RAM and how it works, sadly. Right now I have some inexpensive Rosewill pc3200 RAM picked out. It looks fine and …

I had a couple of questions. First off, has anyone seen what the expected retail price of the upcoming A8N-SLI Deluxe Asus mobo will be (http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socket939/a8nsli-d/overview.htm)? Also, I noticed that I won't really NEED a lot of the features it has, can I expect them to come out with a …

Judging by this article http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2284 SLI 6600GT's consistantly outperform a single 6800GT (both on the same mobo) by a good margin. However, when AA and AF are turned up, the 6600GT's lag behind, probably because of their smaller bandwidth. With these stats in hand, how would you expect a 6800GT …

Both cards are evenly matched. The Ultra performs better in open GL games(doom 3), while the X800XT outperforms the 6800 ultra in DirectX applications (Half life 2, Far cry). Overall it comes down to what you will be using it for. If you are really interested in top performance, a …

CPU speeds aside, does anyone know which of these 2 setups would perform better? 1) Nforce 4 chipset, 2 6600GT's (SLI PCI Express) 2) Nforce 3 chipset 6800GT (AGP 8X) Thanks for the help! EDIT: Ack whoops! Wrong spot... could anyone move this to the motherboards/CPU section please?
