Where to start? I can't tell where you are in your classes on VB.net apps so I'll start with a question.
Do you know how to respond to the Click Event?

@Hiruni_3. Please read the Community Rules. If you need to farm this work out there are sites like Upwork you can use. Here, it's all about you showing effort, telling where you are stuck and working on your project. As presented it's so poorly formatted I didn't get past a few lines. Then I looked for your question and didn't find it.

Read https://www.daniweb.com/welcome/rules

I'd look into filing a GDPR complaint.

While poorly formatted to the point of unreadable, you didn't ask a question or tell us where you are stuck.

Tell more. By console you could mean the command prompt in Windows or something else. But let's look at Warzone. A quick look finds it uses the following engine: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IW_(game_engine

If games and game developers need speed they pick an engine. But here you haven't written enough for me to offer much else other than go get a game engine and build on that system.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

You mention data access but didn't mention much about the datastore. For what apps I've developed I use SQL (don't make me list all I've used over the years) and this seems to solve the concurrency issues since the data commit is done by the SQL server before it processes the next query. But hey, that is what I'm seeing. I can imagine if you rolled your own database you get to wrestle concurrency issues.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

For gaming I found I need pretty high end systems to get high performance unless I'm running an old game such as Doom. Details are absent here but I have run into folk trying to write a game (console or not) on old laptops with Intel graphics and they are like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. A little lost but at the beginning of the journey. Eventually they learn that you can only milk lower end PCs for so much or move to a better machine. About 1 in 100 will double down that they can get the performance up on their machine and few of those achieve their goals. It's that hard. Even I tried to see what I could eek out of Intel graphics and the short story is lesson learned. Hardware is cheaper than spending years trying to get triple A games to work well on the low end PCs.

Still can't see how https://developer.chrome.com/docs/extensions/reference/tabs/#method-sendMessage will let us interact with say, a Facebook page. Now if the pages are all yours then your code could have scripts in said page to receive and act upon your JSON message. But I still don't see a good explanation of what you are trying to achieve so my thought is that you might be trying to automate interaction with Facebook or other sites than your own. If you were CLEAR about what you were trying to do, maybe I could offer ideas but as it stands I don't see how this API will do much with pages that you don't control.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Can you think of any example where this works? My thought is if this did work it would show an exploit or bug in the browser since a tab is sandboxed from other tabs. It's valid to expect the messages to work in a single tab but would highlight a security/exploit issue if messages flowed sideways between tabs and browsers.

As Dani wrote, maybe there's another way.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Why did you put a semicolon at the end of line 127?
There may be other errors but you should at least correct syntax errors first.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

There's so much missing here. Maybe this is homework and you didn't read https://www.daniweb.com/welcome/rules about homework.
Next there's the small issues that C++ doesn't have native SQL support. Along with what you wrote above doesn't seem to detail enough for any seasoned programmer to create this app. Maybe there's more to be told but here, for homework you present where you are stuck, show code for what doesn't work as well as write why you think it's broken.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Before you or anyone writes a script, you would describe in detail what said script would do. Or you would perform the work manually then automate it. Do you have the steps documented that you would then cast into code?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Such bugs are reported back to the author of these extensions. If folk don't report then the author won't know to fix it.

Since C++ doesn't have native graphics I take it this will be just text. Try this link:

Maybe you can talk folk into watermarking and pay for it or better yet try to sell them a NFT.

What is "working well know"? "know?"

About the BIOS, the question on the BIOS is put to the motherboard maker. ALWAYS. Why? Because no one should tell you how but the maker. Or tell you to have a shop do this.

But if I take it all is working, we don't update the BIOS.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

While PC details are slim, 200 Watt power supplies and the age of the PC are working against you. If the client would pay for the tech time we would try another PSU on the tech bench. But the issue of age is front and center. We know to never work on old working PCs of that or older times unless it's something simple like a new drive or such.
-> Try again but unplug HDD, etc to lighten the load. Even then the cost of a new power supply will fetch a Core2Duo desktop from Ebay here.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Given the age, working on this old gear can break it. The shop if it sees this will advise the client find a working machine and salvage what's good in said machine.

95C won't kill those Intel CPUs so that's not it. But age and stress from the work can break solder connections so you know to work lightly and refuse machines this old at the service counter.

-> Find another working PC to salvage what you can. Most likely a motherboard failure.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Let me start with an observation.

A man with a watch knows what time it is. A man with two watches isn't quite sure.

There is no reason to expect these to match as they are by two companies and as such should not match. There is no mystery here.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Seems simple.
In psuedo code:

  1. Open file.
  2. Loop
  3. Read a line.
  4. If match, close file, return result.
  5. End of file? Close file, return not found.

I take it this is not only the usual circuit analysis but the GRAPHIC display. As "c" doesn't do graphics natively you have really created a mess here as whatever graphics system you choose is likely to be highly specific to your choice of platform.

You have a long road ahead of you if your top post is as you wrote. Figure at least a few days to pick out your development kit and graphics system.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Lucky. The clue here is you pulled from backups but it's unclear what that was or the exact steps were. Count this as a win and make sure you don't tempt fate again.

Given the sparse details, you can see if https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/workaround-and-recovery-steps-for-issue-with-some-parity-storage-spaces-after-updating-to-windows-10-version-2004-and-windows-server-version-2004-0337f14e-579e-4976-74d9-7acff8aab50e works but remember that the CLEAN OS INSTALL means the Storage Space is no more. Windows in any version I've seen with software RAID of any version has never found an old array and put it back into service. I wrote one of the reasons above.

Has anyone warned you of this and the other issues we are discussing here?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Regarding the comment about "software RAID..." As I wrote above that's not enough. Which RAID you implemented must be known as well. The most expensive recovery is when you have a client that doesn't know which RAID they implemented. You are left with the highest paid data recovery experts to dig in and figure it out.

Mikey37 commented: Windows reports "Parity" +0
rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

In regard to your comment, around our office we use USB drives for backups. Now with HDD prices in the dumpster such as 400USD for 18TB WD drive at https://www.newegg.com/red-pro-wd181kfgx-18tb/p/N82E16822234430 we rarely run into a client that has more in their desktop or laptop.

Data recovery is expensive and unreliable. Backups are cheap.

When I started on our Android apps I leveraged my prior programming experience so for me the best sites didn't repeat much about basics such as files, variables and JAVA. I also had apps on many platforms such as Windows Mobile, PalmOS, and a few others. For me, Google's own and a few others I found with https://www.google.com/search?&q=google+android+developer+tutorials
The result was we were able to get going with out apps in about 3 months.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Maybe this needs to be added:

I can very easily cause data loss situations in every single configuration that I have tried where Storage Spaces should be able to recover.
https://www.tenforums.com/drivers-hardware/161012-windows-storage-spaces-replacing-failed-disk-two-way-mirror.html
Also:
Yes... an important caveat and warning. As Storage spaces works 'under' Windows, it lives/dies at the whim of Microsoft and its updates. [I was unable to create a Storage Space under 2020 update btw...] Wish it were more insulated from unwanted/unforced breakage as it has some nice features to include easy transport from Windows system to Windows system and ability to be 'seen' from a Repair disk. Appreciate you adding the info!

I can't know what hasn't been told by the OP but my view is Storage spaces are fragile and need to be treated as such.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

As to Dani's question I have yet to find Microsoft Documentation for that. However my lessons over the years is to NEVER move RAID drive connections around or replace a drive in an array without full backups. Remember it all matters what sort of RAID it is but operations on a RAID such as drive swaps and movements are never done without full backups. Sometimes you encounter a new tech that thinks they can replace a drive in the usual RAID 5 array with impunity. The lesson follows.

If the OP did lose the Windows OS drive the situation can be dire since a fresh install of any Windows I've seen over the years has NEVER found and put the StorageSpace array back into service. Why this is has many reasons including a fresh install, accounts don't necessarily have the same SID (nod to https://devblogs.microsoft.com/oldnewthing/20141128-00/?p=43513 and other documents.) So it's impossible in a Microsoft universe to fresh install and a software RAID to, as they say "it just works."

Mikey37 commented: They work even though connections were changed! :>) +0
rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Storage Spaces is not a single option of software RAID. For example "Simple Storage Spaces or Mirror Storage Space" and other options mean those that run such must not only know what they are running but be aware that any data storage is never complete without full backups of what we can't lose. Sometimes it takes a total loss to move folk to review and implement backup systems.
Example about Storagespace recovery at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/workaround-and-recovery-steps-for-issue-with-some-parity-storage-spaces-after-updating-to-windows-10-version-2004-and-windows-server-version-2004-0337f14e-579e-4976-74d9-7acff8aab50e
But I can't tell if that applies as the details are absent here.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

You may agree but as of now I had to change a setting in Opera and Chrome to stop what you call animation/scroll. Daniweb is the ONLY site that I saw this and it only occured after your recent updates.

-> But hey, if you like scrolling, mission accomplished.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I'll have to know a little more. That is, is this a form of RAID? Recovering RAID data is a huge discussion area. Recovery varies on what system the RAID used. Software RAIDs are typically the worst followed by failed RAID controllers. Recovery is usually so time consuming (costly!) that the owner often won't opt for the work to be done. Get quotes from data recovery companies in your country.

If the drive is not encrypted or some striped version of RAID I can often recover the files with RECUVA and a second drive to receive the files. Maybe it needs to be said:

  1. Never write to the drive that has the last copy of files/data to be recovered.
  2. We only lose what we backup. Often this means "No backup, no data."
Mikey37 commented: Hopefully you now understand it is a software RAID controlled by Windows. +4

Put me in the other camp. I want to view to jump to the item. Scrolling is visually awful and this is on my tablet and PC. If a site couldn't be fixed, it would be a reason to reduce my visits to said site.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Yes I did. That system works for password recovery but at the time there was no path to reset your security questions which are the challenge when you want to deregister a phone so it can go to a new owner. No problem with name and password, it's something else and I found that Apple and the Genius Bar to be no help as it appears this is the way Apple intended it to be. I used to admire and use Apple products but after this, can't use or recommend any product that has a built in trap system.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I felt let down by Apple about my account. It was my fault for not writing down the answers to my security questions but to have no recovery method for that meant that I could not deregister my two iPhones and give them away to family members. Instead they had to go to a local third party repair shop to be used as source for parts.
Because of this, Apple products are not going to be an option for us. Apple and the Apple store didn't see why I thought this was a problem. They said to buy a new phone and create new accounts which meant losing what apps I had on the old phone and account.

As such, I am now free from Apple.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I have to agree with JamesCherrill as that has been my experience. Java with GUI can run on so many different devices so a GUI builder has yet to handle re-sizing and more (see JC's answer.)
