The LHC at CERN is scheduled for start up today and apparently some scientist say it could creat a black hole which will swallow our galaxy. Most believe this to be false but i guess when your creating conditions that haven't happened in our universe since the first billionths of a second it was created, you never know.
Heres a link to a live webcast of the events a cern: http://webcast.cern.ch/
Dont think so:). It sure will be interesting to see the outcome
Hi

Welcome C
Once you get a new HD the latitude will run like a metley superstar
Regards
Ok this sounds like fun.Coincidently I had the same prob with my personal pc last night. I got it right though. :) enough of me.
So tell me darthnite how many HD's do you have connected to you're machine? For now make sure theres only one, the OS HD. pluged in in the first IDE (MASTER), And make you're BOOT choise the MASTER HD.
Hi
The series of beeps can be memory or mobo. I dont know exactly if that can be of a bad CMOS but it wont hurt to try :)
So heres what You do: get a stick of RAM from a friend and try it in you're mobo.Swop it round in the RAM slots. If that fails to work than its most likely you're mobo Im afraid.
God luck
Ill recommend that you do another chkdsk. If it finds bad sectors again than do it for a third time. Reason for doing chckdsk more than once is, if it finds bad sectors all the time then you know its the HD going bad that will soon probably die on you.
Cheers
Hi Darthnite
Welcome to the forum
Well first of you dont have to worry about the HD yet. Remove you're GFX card and RAM then seat them properly. Then Remove you're CPU fan and CPU and replace it properly. Make sure you have enough grease on the back side of the CPU/ Heatsink.
I know you might not have removed parts from the mobo but things might have goten loose when the transfer took place. Its eighter you're RAM or GFX card. Worst case scenario its broken. But lets noot get ahead of ourselfs.
Do that and lets check it out
Hi there
To make the matter broader a machine (XP included) can restart on its own for a number of reasons including: all harware and software problems. So a if thats a genuine techy guy telling you that it might be You're HD causing a comp restart, than hes probably telling you the truth. He is a little to exact to say its bad/ corrupt sectors. Nvm so yes to answer you're Q it can be HW and/ SW
I didnot understand what changes have
you made in the default line in the boot.ini file?
By removing a line in the Boot.ini, it simply means that you give instructions witch OS to boot up from if you have more than one. By deleting a line you're saying that you dont want to boot from that OS, witch is what they did in this tread

I often say smoking is the most stupid thing a grown up can do. not that it should be reccomended for teens. but just think about it. You pull in...Blow...and then what... STress relieve :) .
i had people smokking that admits thats the dumbest thing. never mind
Joke:
Dr. Phil was conducting a therapy session with four young mothers and
their small children. "You all have obsessions," he observed. To the
first mother he said, "You are so obsessed with eating you've even
named your daughter Candy." He turned to the second mom: "Your
obsession is with money. Again, it manifests itself in your child's
name, Penny." He turns to the third mom: "Your obsession is alcohol.
This, too, manifests itself in your child's name, Brandy." At this
point, the fourth mother gets up, takes her little boy by the hand
and whispers, "Come on Dick, we're leaving."

Talk about being lucky. I must say thats quite interesting. Its eighter they doing great service or they realized afterwards the lack of "no Boot" issue's.
Let us know how it went and what they say was causing it to happen.

Hey welcome Jenitta
Glad to have you here.
Hi
tell me how far does it actually boot. Does it boot to a certain point then shut's down? Or is there no display whats so ever? If there's no display then try a desktop monitor to see if the display comes up.

The users email account is already up and running on his XP machine, But now I want to import his address book witch is resideing on the Server. Question is 1.Where can I find the address book on the server and 2. How do I import it
Thanks in advance for you're help

Actually, the way they have it set up is that each tab is like a separate process so if one tab freezes, the rest of the browser continues to work. It's a good idea, not quite enough to convince me, but a good idea none the less.
Thats something great
You are driving your car, should you pass?

HI there
Make sure of the following
1- Signal cable is plugged in (firm)
2- Video card is plugged in. If you need to, remove the video card(Graphics Card) and put back in properly.
If that doesnt work than its probably a RAM prob. But try the above first
[Sorry for similar post, previous poster posted more or less the same time as me, but Ill leave my post anyways]
