hi
The small speaker cable enables the sound lie when theres no RAM sticks in it will make the beeps. You might have removed the cable without noticing it. check that and get back to me asap

Hi is there any harware that you're installed lately. IF so remove the HW and startup without it. Alternatively remove all none- essential HW that excludes CPU, OS Harddrive, RAM one stick. Use Onboard GFX and startup. If this works than install the othert HW one at a time performing a restart after each HW install to see witch part is causing you're machine to restart.

Hi
Make sure you're speaker cable is pluged onto you're mobo. Then remove all memory modules and plug them into the other available RAM slots. swop them around and power the PC on after each swop.
PS: How many memory slots and sticks do you have???

Check to see if you're have daemon tools or Alcohol or any other similar Tool that uses the image. Unmount it if necessary and try to delete it. Some program is holding it and its most likely a Image program like the above mentioned.

Hi
Thi machine is compatible to run XP. Try installing XP. Due to HW these conflicts might happen.

He probably deleted files on a previous occasion without realizing that its worth to mention.
And its only after the system restore that he tried to uninstall some programs due to performance issues only to realise than that it coulnt uninstall. Im sure if he tried uninstalling those programs on a earlier stage the results wouldve been the same.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi
First get a registry cleaner/ restorer and run it on the system. If that fails to help than you can try uninstalling IE and reinstall. Even better yet install FireFox

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi
If its a cabled network than try another network point, preferably a network point that doesnt give the timeouts/ Weak connection

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi
You wont be able to boot from you're external from all the machines using you're external as the Boot up disk. However you will be able to access you're files from that resides on the external. If you prefer using you're external as the bootup on you're machine than you can follow the previous posters advice.

Cheers and good luck

Hi friend

It sounds like you're infected with a virus/spyware. I'll recommend the following witch is great virus removal tools and has worked for a number of people on this site/forum

Use TRends and Glarys tools in combo

download trend micro's DOS application here (2.1MB) and the two essential pattern files namely lptXXX and sspdaX_XX(X means latest versions)witch you can find at the same site

extract/install the DOS application and the files in a temp folder(all inthe same folder) in the root of local disk, now go into safe mode and run the DOS application
??

Glarys Utilities
Download Glarys Utlities http://glary-utilities.en.softonic.com/

Cheers and good Luck
Do get back to me

HI
Try to defrag another disk attached to you're pc. If you dont have one than borrow one so long. By doing this you can determine if its a windows or disk prob.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

the hard drive can be removed and hooked to another computer and filrs retrieved ,to do this you need a usb device of sorts ,like a usb external hard drive case for a laptop size hard drive .or take out the hardrive and take it to good local computer shop and they will retrieve files for a small fee .

Hi and welcome

This post actually says it all. If you can remove the hard drive, then youll be able to get all data from it and store on another machine or even better just use it as an external [hard drive connected to USB] hard drive

orginal post may be long gone ,im thinking it couls be the power supply ,sometime known as a psu or a sps

I like the way how you posted you're post this time around.hehe
I just call it a PSU
[If you're know what Im refering to]

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Yip
There you go Chacky. I guess we learn everyday

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

:?:
Nvm, so you up and running again? Ok then

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Well Im from SA and we call it thermal grease, Grease, CPU paste, among some others. My apologies if I misinstructed anyone due to the way we name it here. :$

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

hi SethMajormi and welcome

Start the machine and tap f8 or other key that will allow you to boot into safe mode. Once in safe mode youll be able to see how long the pc will remain on. That way youll et to see if its a virus or not. Ill diagree slightly with chacky (with all do respect though). Viruses can also cause this behaviour.
Go with the obvious suspicion, try another PSU to test if thats where the prob lies. Also apply new grease as it was previously suggested. That may very well get you to a happy computing afterall.

Cheers and good luck with that

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi there
Kindly provide some more info please.
Is there any display? how many beeps do you get...?

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Theres is (or atleast was) a OS on the disk ie Boot.ini on disk C. But since you deleted you're C's OS it will BOOT from D: Thats if D's OS was installed correct. Yes some programs installed on C whilest you were running the C: OS back then will result in you going to have to install it again. However that should be a train smash... Or so I hope :)

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

A windows repair will replace the files witch infact is needed files. Last nite I had a machine with a NTLDR missing. I didnt want to doa win_repair because I was looking for a 'workaround' just to get into windows. i was forced to do the win_repair at the end.

NOTE: when you're done with the windows repair, open explorer>tools>folder options>view. Tick the checkbox that ive circuled in red in the image thats attached. Reason being so that you dont delete the neseccery files again by accident at a later stage :)

Hi
The only thing I can think of is drivers not being installed or configurations thats not adding up. Complare the two in depth and see if you can make the settings of the Desktop the same as that of the Laptop.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi
Theres a couple of things you can do. One is, if theres valuable data on the C drive, then you can backup the data and format that drive. Youll still be able to BOOT from the D drive. That is if you're willing to reinstall you're programs that was installed on you're C, like Nero, Winamp etc.
Or Two you can follow the instructions on this tread on how to delete the Winxp from the BOOT.ini file. Yours will be slightly different but in a easier way, Being it will display with the drive letters C and D. You delete the line with the C as the drive letter. And copy the line with the D drive letter as the option to BOOT from

Hope thats clear enough. Feel free to ask...

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Im among the people that actually like it.I didnt have any problems with Chrome yet, so theres no need for me not to like it. However I still prefer and would still recomend FF. with all respect to Google's Chrome. :)

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Ill go with cool

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

How do you remove the operating system you are no longer using, if it is on c; drive?

Roger

if theres more than one OS on the C: than you first need to figure out witch one you're not going to use (want to delete). You can determine that by the way it was installed. Say you've installed a second OS also Win XP and you want to use the second one rather than the one that was first installed, then the boot.ini will by default display the OS as it was installed. meaning the OS first installed will be first and the second one installed will be bellow

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi
If theres no form of power and you're sure the power cords is plugged in correct than Im afraid you're mobo went kapoot.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

it still means that ram or mobo failure is in running out of life. Sooner OR later it might give up on you

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

cheers :)

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Im Boggled :)

Nevertheless...thats what amazes me the duration of the time its goings to take. Its obvious but still its suchj a mission...
