.......Attached is a picture for you Jaymz (cmos battery is circulled in red) .Theres a small lever (circuled in blue) that you just clip to the back releasing it will remove the battery.leaeve out for a couple of minutes and replace.
??
ohk,but you were able to access your BIOS before the format and install right??if so than try prost #4.theres a reason why i incline. However if thats not the case for you then alternatively you should take it to your local lappy repair shop seeing your cmos is welded to mobo.
??
ohk congrats on that.
cheers for now
try to track where exactly the noise is coming from when it freezes.according to what you telling me sound like its coming from HD,if you can track it down and find it coming from HD than you have a winner.Good things with HD's is they dont always die brutally just like that,it will always make a noise(like a spinining noise) untill one day...shame sounds so sad...he dies
see what you can come up with and drop a post
??
i am crosseyed.. lol..
thanks everyone..
maby thats the reason why you cant get it fixed....lol
Just toying with ya buddy
ohk lets see,why dont you slave the drive seeing you wanna format and reinstall anyways, then format and insert back in your machine install OS
??
You can actually change the drive letters cos it sounds like thats the main reason why you cant see both C : drive's.make sense right. windows cant display two drives with the same letters at the same time thats why when you slave your drive you in another machine, your drive thats usually C: (for example) for get a new drive letter ie F:
if you dont use both OS why dont you just delete the one for it will be easier other wise you can change one of the c: drive letters so all drives can be displayed
??
meaning your laptop doesnt work without the charger plugged in??
Hi There friend
so far you did a good job. Heres wha t you do this time.in your girlfriends machine insert your drive again as you did go into windows and do a format by using disk managment (full format recommended) when done with the format remove your drive and insert it back into your notebook.using your boot options change it to boot from cdrom (cd/dvd)first and install windows that way on your machine.once the installation is done drope another post.
for Raj-converter info
Ola Friend
in the current state that it is,does it give aniy beeps?
what happens when you remove all the ram does it scream, beeps etc.
you say theres power (fans spin etc) but theres no display right?
Hi and Welcome Danielsan
I guess you mean theres no display.[giggles]
is there power on the monitor,is there like a orange light on you monitor.if there isnt any power than you must test your buddy's monitor.
Also read this post that will provide more steps that relates to your prob post #8
it is not most likely that the other hardware componants will be dead but yeah as you said you did quite some overclocking so the posibillity is there indeed.but I can tell you that it would be a coincidence if all the pci cards etc is kapoot.you might even experience that no all your other componants is still working gr8.
usually this accures because of memory or the most obvious, display adapter (or card as it is in your case)
What you can do is use your two piece (or four pice if its 4 256's)RAM one at a time and try it in all the slots(starting your system up each time you change to a different slot)If the RAM test fails with all 2(or 4) sticks, then remove all RAM and startup see if the machine complains (you can do this first also).if you do get complains from the RAM then it sounds like all is good there. Now remove your dislay card remove cmos bat3 and leave so for couple of minutes.Replace all and see if you get display.Failed!?Try a junky (that works ofcourse)of a graphics card to test it in your machine, remove your current one and test it.
??
I believe its already dead. if resetting th ecmos doesnt work than that means CPR didnt work.morale of the story shes dead
HI buddy
please be so kind and rewind...lol
Im not with you...backoption folder option doesnt work?give some more infor for me to help you
I assume its a notebook if it is theres three possible reasons that Im aware off for this this behaviour
1-not enough power to give proper supply to lcd
2-some source cabling not making firm contact
3-yeah you guesed it lcd running out of life
if you comfortable with opening your lappy than you can do so and just make sure all cabling is makinng firm contact
??
yes overheating is a main suspect, dust inside your case can also cause this behaviour so do look inside your pc to see if thats the case.also whilest in there see if there is proper coolin ie fans working etc.
??
mind me for being slow,do you get any powre when powering up?display?
yeah thats right.Ive also experienced a NIC gone bad when the light stays on even though the network cable is unplugged.
meaning you are within the same range (say sitting in your house)all the time
A woman is on her deathbed, with her husband at her side. She keeps trying to tell him something, but he keeps saying, "Shhhh, don't worry now darling, just rest."
"But honey," she whispers, "I need to make a confession before I die; I slept with your brother, your best friend, and your father."
"Don't worry about it, sweety," replies her husband, as he wipes the tears from her cheek, "I know. Why do you think I poisoned you?"
Thats a good one
sittas87 VLC is common because that you don't need to install codecs to watch DivX files or Xvid files and it can play with subtitle files.
Ooops, didnt even know that, probably cos I never had interest in downloading it.Thanks
Pls am a new member and with less experience than u guys, but how do i get the download on Registry Mechanic.

I still dont get the drill with VLC,quite common,Its so a simple player
[said with all respect]
well done
cya around
for ctech-currently he has no keyboard and mouse that will work, his usb is disabled and I assume he had a ps/2 keyboard.
maby our teacher got it right cos he never returned.
so you get no display?but it powers on automatically and you must hold the power button for shutdown? am I correct?
you can run a chkdsk -r through recovery console and/windows repair that will answer your Q to weather it is a hardware or software related problem
??
video card speeds and memory info can lead to something.aslo check event viewer for leads or indication
??
RAM and CPU looks fine
start pc press f8 a continuelly untill you get a boot up screen that gives you the safe mode option.enter for safe mode.
if it freezes before that slave your disk in another machine and run a chkdsk.now try to startup again.
ill stick with ya on this one
??
Yeh man, get a hamster or a mouse and do a wheel cage thingy and make sure u stick the cheese a bit far so mouse runs real fast. link the fan and u r sorted....lol
good one.lol
you can go into safe mode and undo your actions.
http://www.ntfs.com/boot-disk.htm has a free-download floppy disk image that, when expanded to a floppy, creates a bootable disk that will allow you to copy files from an NTFS partition to a FAT32 partition (or another hard drive) or a network. The Knoppix CD will allow you to do the same thing, if you're able to boot from a CD.
is the ink for xp ass well??
hey Zoogies
you can install a new OS system within the current OS by creating a new Windows file eg name it windows1. your system will be dual boot you, boot up with the new one. when in windows you can copy your old data from documents and settings (old user name)
OR
If you have access to another machine put your drive in that machine as a slave drive and start the windows.you can copy your data that way from your slave to the master hard drive.
Theres a possibility that your hard drive might be running towards its end of days but the above two options will give you an answer
??
if in the event of conflict with OS files than you can reset the cmos and for a couple of minutes and see how it behaves.but if it is a physical componant like the broken connector port than you will have no luck with cmos reset.
if you have usb's in the front and back/side of tower and youve disabled the back, depending on your mobo design you might wanna stick your usb mouse in the front/side set of usb and you might get it back in action.reseting th ecmos might even fix th usb
??
ohk that I have to admit I didnt know. what youre saying is I had a coincidence cos I did it once.maby I was just lucky.
No offense to no(will never hurt my peeps) but Gigabyte mobo's sucks.I had a really weird BIOS prob with a gigabyte mobo yesterday and boy was there alot of people struggling with the same prob operating on a gigabyte mobo
Ill say xp cos youll find after a while that vista is a pain in the bud due to several reasons. I think microsoft realised it cos why is the next OS coming out so soon after the vista release. lets just hope that windows 7 will give us something thats worth calling an upgrade.
I prefer working comfortable and that means taking out the cpu and applying grease while holding the cpu in my hand.yes you right but we cant always assume that people are doing things as We(you/I) usually do it.
But yes you right
what you can do buddy is foramt your flash and after that use a tool that will undelete the files from the flash and see if it solves your prob.only do so once you have a dedicated tool for the job.
Im done here at work so ill catch up with you 2morrow and maby help you with a gr8 tool if that is the route you gonna follow
ohk like the locksmith said try to think back on what you did before this happened, cos yes without you realising it something was change maby not intentionally.

I love computers but hate electricity Ive shocked with electricity so many times, hardcore.very funny. IT techies should never attemp to repair a PSU.Stubborn me has abided by this rule untill a week ago trying to repair a psu I did what I did...Kaboom!!! Today Im still living, but never do I repair a psu again. conversion is fine but reairing is like Bin Ladin (god knows where he is) creating a one of his favourates
Hi there and welcome Italiantank
First of I personally dont prefer the auto update cos sometimes its the updates thats causing the problems.never the less bare in mind this behaviour can be cos of hw or software.but reading your post it sounds like a defnite software prob. I would try a system restore first if its still the same behaviour than Ill look in my graphic card options set the settings to defaults.if the default settings doesnt solve the prob than Ill modify the settings according to what it was one at a time and see how it bahaves
