Hi Rayo
Seeing that a virus is the most obvious, Ill recommend that you check you're system for trojan/ viruses first.
here's a malware scanner that a user on this site recommended:

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebyt...are_d5756.html) to your desktop.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure to checkmark the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.

Ill recommend MRT that is good with removing Trojans

>>Hi, the monitor has its own power and still seems to work fine<<

Hi
When you say the monitor has its own power, does that mean the signal cable (thats the cable with all the male pins for input and two screws on the sid) plugs computer box and kettle plug witch is the power go into the wall and not into the computer box???
If thats so than thats ruled out, and I'm thinking mobo might be oto kappot lanf :(

As for the CMOS battery, they usually last for three to five years. The only time the cmos muct be changed is when there's a massage in youre post indicating cmos problems OR you're time and date inside windows changes everytime

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Does you're monitor's power plug, plug into your power supply or directly into the wall's power?

As for the CMOS bettery heres a picture attached

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi guys
See if a windows repair will fix you're problem. It sounds like a virus to me.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi Mai_
If the BSOD comes returns reply with the BSOD code and other info on that screen. dont wanna be the barer of bad news but should youre prob be fixed than you're one random lucky guy.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

.... ebay any good? lol :)

I guess so.As long as you make a good buy.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi Steve
Seeing theres a change as the monitor turns on Ill say youre connection from youre power supply isnt making correct contact with your mobo. have a look at that

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

looks like its rights after all

1-try what i suggested, thats:
-share a any single folder/ file and give full rights to everyone.
Or
2-Create the computer users that is created on comp A and B exactly the same with the same passwords and the greyed out should become editable that way you can give a username from comp A and B and password to get access through the network

Access method one should do the simple trick thats giving rights to the everyone group

Theres a Couple of ways
1.If you are in a network environment than you can install it by using another machines DVD drive
2.Create a image of the Data on the disk
3.Slave/Make youre drive Secondary drive in another machine that has a DVD drive and install OFFICE 07 on youre drive

Hi warreng
according to my understanding it can eighter be one of two thing namely:
1-the video controller is not currently in use
or
2-theres confli]ct between two video controller drivers

As for the directX issue go into safe mode and install the the latest version thats required by the video controller. If that fails install an older version and than update it with the newer version

sorry I could'nt be of more help

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

If the physical and logical connection is right and you know that for sure than it can eighter be a firewall (windows or Anti virus) or permissions.
try sharing another file/folder give full rights to all users and see if it works

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

HI
If the Chipset is set for DDR (DDR1) than DDR wont work,it wont key in to fit. DDR1 is more expensive cos the older the product is the more expensive it becomes, specially when it comes to pc's technology.
DDR2 wont fit on you 845 mobo. when buying RAM also check for the highest speed that your chipset supports witch in youre case is pc133,or you can go with pc100.
cheers

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Are you sure this is a video card that you're not using currently?I dont know if that can be resulting in whats happening to here, but there isnt much that can be wrong
On a final note you can reinstall the mobo chipset drivers, following the controller drivers again and see if that can fix it. I dont know what else it can be

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi
You can completely uninstall the driver and in stall the files manually

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

welcome wil
kindly post your HJT log in the viruses and other nasties forum.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

hey there Catalana
reading your post it sounds like you have quite a "oldy" there.what you can do is blow out your machine with can are to remove all dust.youll be amazed at the results. chances are its dust thats preventing your machine from performing. do that and we'll take it from there if theres still no change
??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

what you can do in device manager is to right click the hard ware>properties> click the update driver and locate the location of the downloaded drivers.

if the driver is right then it should work this way
good luck

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

mc is right...if you have any other difficulties, than
give me the make and model of the motherboard if its onboard
OR
if its pci/pci-e than give me the name of the card and Ill help you to find it.
??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi there
Install another Browser Like firefox, chances are it will work

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

hi
go to the drive properties and see if you can roll back the driver.if not than youll need to install the vga drivers that you got with your mobo or graphics card

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

I actually have a bypass that I wanted to post but I figured nah.this forum is cool but sometimes I just wanna do the naughty things. sometimes i think why larry why. why so strict. dont answer i know the rules i just want to be naughty as i mentioned before.

also
-apply grease to cpu
-clean machine from dust

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

10 months thats like forever without a pc. ohk lets try somethin else in the mean time can you track down your mobo name written on the board

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

.......Attached is a picture for you Jaymz (cmos battery is circulled in red) .Theres a small lever (circuled in blue) that you just clip to the back releasing it will remove the battery.leaeve out for a couple of minutes and replace.
??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Ola Friend
in the current state that it is,does it give aniy beeps?
what happens when you remove all the ram does it scream, beeps etc.
you say theres power (fans spin etc) but theres no display right?

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

usually this accures because of memory or the most obvious, display adapter (or card as it is in your case)
What you can do is use your two piece (or four pice if its 4 256's)RAM one at a time and try it in all the slots(starting your system up each time you change to a different slot)If the RAM test fails with all 2(or 4) sticks, then remove all RAM and startup see if the machine complains (you can do this first also).if you do get complains from the RAM then it sounds like all is good there. Now remove your dislay card remove cmos bat3 and leave so for couple of minutes.Replace all and see if you get display.Failed!?Try a junky (that works ofcourse)of a graphics card to test it in your machine, remove your current one and test it.
??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

mind me for being slow,do you get any powre when powering up?display?

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

what bout post #18

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

ohk I dont know if you followed gerbill's post eighter way drop a High Jact This log here so I can have a good look to see if theres any sussy behaviour.if you not firmiliar wi with Hijack This let me know

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

It has something to do with shutdown.exe of windows. It is place at start up you can stop this one by going to run command then type shutdown -a. It will stop fro executing..

Fair enough, but if you read the whole post youll find he needs to do that every time and that should not be a continues thing when a user starts up.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Surprise surprise!this is one funky problem, we'll crack it though.Im sticking to the roots of what your prob is(shutdown problem)
---
follow these
-checkdisk
-windows repair through Recovery Console

if all fails post a HJT log and paste it here

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi see if this will help you if its on a home pc

Go to registry editor and navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Policies \Microsoft\Windows \WindowsUpdate\AU

Change the “NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers” DWord value to the required number.

0 = False (Allow auto-reboot)
1 = True (Disallow auto-reboot)

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

you could start a new treat but this fix is a quicky but just be carefull and very accurate.
right click my computer>properties>advace tab>startup and recovery settings
[here you will see a Edit Tab click it]-

a notepad will open with something like this

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS9
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS9="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS8="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

you delete the line that states windows 2000 Professional[in red that is]
note-the line that states windows 2000 professional in your case
---
further more you can delete the windows folder in the Root of your C:/ drive if it is on the same partition or format the different partition
??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

so the hutdown message happens in safe mode asswell.

I have a client that called me with the same prob so I hope its somewhat like yours so I can reference later

If you are in a rush you can backup, format and install new OS on the drive (I never instruct users to format cos im not a format techy)-
keep me up to date

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Ive been really busy lately but youve been a gr8 sport to work with.see ya around
cheers for now

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

in the BIOS run a Hard drive detection: press enter when the highlight is on primary master if save BIOS settings.what is the error that you get??when you tap f8 continuesly after exiting BIOS to get the safe mode option what happens?can you go into safe mode?
we'll get it fixed

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

whilest in the BIOS check to see if the hard drive is detected by your system if it is than look in the BOOT order and set it to the BOOT up device first.if that fails than do a hard drive format in another machine(slave your drive) put it back in the original machine and install the new OS
!Backup while it is set as slave in another machine
??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

You could go into safe mode and run a alternative anti virus program ie Trend and run the DOS appliation together with the two pattern files ie lpt and sspda (latest versions, same site).
works like a bomb

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

weldone fella

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

meant no disrespect, and was just trying to help otherwise I wouldnt have posted.yes it is your decision but you here for help so thats what I tried
Good luck though

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

first of why would you wanna have 5 different web browsers, you just making things difficult for yourself.so Ill recommend using one or if you really need more than one for some reason than rather use two.
Anyway the error massage is screaming at misconfigured Internet options or tcp/ip settings,so yeah this means something is seems rite but is not
