Re: Yeah, just create a directory called 'images' and store a string in the database which would be the path to the image. On the save command then upload the image to the directory. Probably should append a datetime to the filename so there isnt a chance of duplicate filenames.
Re: For the clients wanting a PR upgrade, what is their reason? It seems the end result of seo should be brand awareness and lead generation. What does PR really get them. There are plenty of low PR sites ranking quite well for given keywords.
Re: Thanks for posting. Looks like a useful tool.
Re: We have recently gotten into Wordpress development and have only good things to say about the platform. A large community of coders creating great themes and plugins. Either will get crawled quickly if using something like Pingomatic.
Re: I would recommend Google's tool as well. However products like Wordtracker will give you more detailed stats on keyword but you have to pay to use.
Re: Since you are a startup it is difficult to know the expected usage of your toll free number, but there are services like Grasshopper, specifically for companies like yours in order to get started. You get a set number of minutes a month with most of these types of services …
Re: As already noted, you can find more articles than you probably want on this topic. In the end, they all pretty much say the same thing when it comes to link building. Directories, Blog Posts, Forum Signatures, Reciprocal, Articles, Paid links, etc. The key in link building is to make …
Re: PR comes down to link building and getting good quality sites to link to you. IMO PR isn't worth worrying about unless you are wanting to sell links or ads on your site which in that case PR becomes a selling point. Traffic is what you want instead. This can …
Re: Short answer is no. However we did do a test on this very topic and got interesting results. For a keyword phrase that gets around 13 million results, we were able to get first place organic ranking without doing any link building to this page and only the basic on …

Re: I would rather have you spend time writing quality posts on your blog than submitting to directories. Quality content will make visitors bookmark your site and keep them coming back. Sure directories will increase your link count, but the amount of traffic you get from them is typically small.
Re: PR and traffic aren't necessarily related. There are many low PR sites which rank well in the SERPs for their keywords and thus get a lot of traffic. A higher PR simply means that you have a larger number of quality links "voting" for your site. In my opinion, traffic …
Re: If you want to offer very basic ecommerce, then you could get by with just having a Paypal account. Since the transaction takes place on Paypal's site, you would not need an SSL cert. For the ecommerce sites that we typically do, SSL runs about 250 a year through GeoTust, …
Re: If you want a solid cart that is PCI compliant and has a good forum community behind it, try AspDotNetStorefront or AbleCommerce.
Re: Both SEO Elite and Keyword Elite from Brad Callen are very good.
Re: Exact match will most likely bring in less clicks as the targeting is very specific unless of course your keyword is auto insurance for instance. Less clicks in not necessarily a bad thing as exact matching will qualify your visitors better.
Re: A simple Google search should bring up a huge number of results. Probably be able to download a free squeeze page template with signup code included.
Re: You could always give away 100 dollar bills to each subscriber to increase your conversion rates. Kidding aside, there are so many factors that go into converting visitors. Reducing your bounce rate, increasing pages per visit, time per visit, analyzing navigational paths, ensuring your content is relevant to your visitors, …
Re: I believe storing an MP3 file in a database as a blob would be similar to storing an image file in a database. Neither would I recommend unless you are worried about someone finding the directory and downloading them. Usually it is best practice to store the path to the …
Re: If you are doing something that is Grey Hat, Google is probably already working on a way to stop the exlpoit.
Re: 99% of these online money making programs are the same. They all have you setup a squeeze or sales letter page for a niche product. The problem is that once the site is launched, the owner says "now what?" Thus forums across the internet are filled with the same questions …
Re: Most likely the find control statement as I have a code example in front of me right now doing the same thing although our role is hardcoded into the add role function. Have you tried stepping through the code and seeing if the dropdownlist has a value?
Re: The content of the email is a big factor in whether the campaign will succeed for fail. If a company continually sends emails that are always sales focused, the receiver will end up not reading them after a while. The goal is to use them to build trust and credibility …
Re: We use GeoTrust for most of our certs. Price is about average.
Re: In most of our campaigns the content network has never performed that well as far as conversions go and that is across a broad range of client industries. It is however, an inexpensive option to get started in PPC.
Re: Use the built-in AJAX controls to do this. Call the thread.sleep function to make the illusion of a wait time.
Re: Since it looks like you are working locally, if your html or aspx file is also sitting on your desktop, then you can simply path as 'thumb.jpg'
Re: This requirement seems a bit expensive as far as processing goes. What kind of application are you creating that needs this. Maybe there is another way to handle it.
Re: Using the AJAX controls built into the .net framework you can update certain portions of a page without causing a postback.
Re: I would say no to putting up duplicate sites. Put up the new site on the old domain as it will not incur the new domain penalty. If he still wants to purchase the new domain, just point it to the new site on the old domain.
Re: I dont think that special offers cheapen the brand. They are simply used as a way to increase brand awareness and bring in new customers. Strong brands such as AT&T, Direct TV, Wells Fargo are constantly offers deals of some kind. With that in mind, I cant think of the …
Re: You will want to ensure that the template includes clean and easy to use navigation when it comes to product catalog so your visitors dont get frustrated and leave your store. Account and shopping cart links are typically in the upper right portion of the page.
Re: What is the reasoning behind not using the built-in ASP.net login control since you are already using their register wizard control. That is one of the benefits of .Net 2.0 and beyond are the built-in membership management controls.
Re: If the downside of using google maps, which in my option would be a great tool, is not having a domain, where are you planning on hosting these pages?
Re: Great rant CanadaFred. Made my Monday morning a bit more tolerable. I agree completely.
Re: I have only used this particular re-writer one time in an IIS 6.0/ ASP.net 2.0 environment. I know we had to add some settings to the web.config file. What does your config file look like?
Re: Developing this site in asp.net would be a good choice because it has the built-in functionality to allow for secure logins, role-based content viewing, profile management, etc.
